Even Rasheed Wallace at his craziest didn’t stop 1.4 billion people having a celebration.  Cousins may be able to score, and rebound and do a lot on the court that few players can, but he is just too big of a problem.

Kings should trade him while his value, with 56 and 48 point games, is at its highest.

Then again, most other teams should stay away from Cousins.

The Kings are going nowhere with Cousins, might sneak into the last playoff spot, and a sweep by the Warriors.  Cousins wouldn’t want to play down the road for Golden State, they have Chinese things all the time.

What next, will Cousins cancel Easter, Buddha’s Birthday, Flag Day, National Hug Day?

Don’t grossly overreact to a slight overreaction. BTW, it should be noted that Cousins did NOT "demand" that the T-shirts be banned, but he simply and by all accounts politely questioned the wisdom/timing of it. The Kings organization didn’t even take a defensive position over the "flap" because there was no wild accusation or argument against them. Yes, it was a case of hypersensitivity and no, I’m not exactly a fan of Cousins. But the headline from this story is completely unfair to the young man and misleading.

I agree with above. And i can understand, be it I am caucassian, so I can;t really relate, why Cousins would have his opinion. To hand out black shirts with a monkey on it on the first day of black history month, makes sense to me to NOT do it.  Cousins is not banning chinese new years, this title is very misleading for sure.

Cousins didn’t cancel the Chinese New Year Celebration as the NBA says each franchise still has to find a way to celebrate.  He questioned the timing of t-shirts that were made because it could be seen as racially insensitive.  He prevented the "Year of the Monkey" t-shirts with a purple monkey on them from being worn because he thought it was poor timing since at the time it was also the 1st day of black history month. He should be applauded for speaking up.

I’m reminded of a famous line from one Howard Cosell.

Lol, this somewhat reminds me of the time my fiance, when we first started dating, called me a "silly monkey."

At the time we were just chilling in bed and just joking around and she was like "you silly monkey!"

I responded with "what did you just say!?"

Lol, turns out that her parents used to jokingly call her and her sisters monkeys when they were kids and it stuck. Her being white and growing up with primarily white friends in a small affluent neighbourhood, she never even thought about how it would sound saying it to a black guy.

We joke about it to this day and sometimes it still comes out, but I’ve asked her never to say that around my parents, haha. They would be a bit confused to say the least.

I assumed the OP was exageratting with the first post. Obviously Chinese New Year isn’t being cancelled. And while I think the vast majority of people (black people and others) wouldn’t have seen anything offensive about the shirts, a very vocal minority probably would have. It was a PR mistake to begin with and thankfully it was caught before it became a bigger issue that it should have been. I know some people hate catering to a PC minority, but preventing those sort of decisions before they become a story are exactly why public relations people are hired.
