BKKnicksfanParticipantI have faith, this man is gonna be something special. He’s gonna get suspended a bunch of times, fight teammates and probably get traded once or twice….but I’m gonna watch every second of it.

OhCanada-ParticipantStill on the record saying I wouldve taken him over Wall. Character issues and all, a skilled 6’11 280 pound Centre with great touch, rebounding skills and competitiveness (whether or not hes just a sore loser at least he wants to win), is not easy to find. How many players in our league actaully make a living in the post nowadays. Lol at Wes Johnson being picked over Cousins…

KayjayParticipantYou guys are all bashing his personality but aren’t respecting his game. He’s rather impressive. You know Artest had problems for the longest time, but thanks to therapy and medication he’s an all around good guy. Come on you guys, thats not right.

JNixonParticipantCousins has to polish his offensive game and work on getting more effective using his strength and size to offset his lack of athleticism. He’s shooting too many jumpers for a guy with a raw shot, and he’s not finishing around the rim that good. It’s a matter of inexperience though. He has the potential to be special, but he has to work on that and of course getting more mature, along with getting better on D. He’s too foul prone right now and he’s a mediocre to below average post defender.

Iggy what are you expecting from him perfection? He averages 14-ppg and 7-rpg with bad percentages yes but post defense isnt anything rookies are usuall fit with in thier first year in the league. These things take time, he is already one of the most skilled big men in the post this game has and is only getting better.
mentally he’s an Artest/Sheed
Dont they both have rings? Didnt Artest basically bail out the Lakers in game 7 at home? Id rather have a player with that mentallity over a player with a soft one.

thparadoxParticipantYou have to be kidding me. Wall is a generational talent on par with (and maybe better than) Rose, Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, etc.
Cousins is very talented, but to take him over John Wall is just madness

sheltwon3ParticipantCousins should have been drafted 2nd at the worst 3rd but somehow he went 5th. Wall is too good and has too good of an image not to take him 1st. Cousins could wind up being the overall better player since i feel like the will both be great but a great Center trumps a Great point guard especially since Cousins is already a decent passer right now so in 2 years it will be a interesting debate who is better.

boffacheeriosParticipantSo i’m wondering out of all you people who believe cousins has supposed "character issues", who’s actually seen him get into a fight in the NBA? Or even get into another players face? Has he beaten up a fan? Has he been arrested multiple times including once for complaining about grocery prices? if no, then please don’t classify him with artest and sheed. ok, i’m a kings fan and i’ve seen plenty of ronron so believe me when i say that this 20 year old rookie is ALREADY more composed than ron. The attitude has been way over hyped, i mean, WAY over hyped

I don’t expect perfection from him at all, but I see a guy who isn’t a finished product. He’s not as good as he will be hopefully, but how can you expect a post to me made without the truth being talked about? Just because I said he needs to improve on the things he actually does need to improve, I expect perfection? What sense does that make? If you don’t want to see criticism come his way then I don’t know what to say, but you can’t just say I expect perfection because I pointed out his weaknesses.

dye84Participantas a kings fan living in sac i see a lot of his games, there are times when he is in the low post and has very nice spin moves, power moves, or finesse moves that make you go wow for a guy his age and size, certain stretches of the game he is dominant, other times you want to fine him every time he takes a long range jump shot, he is also a very underated passer, i guess i can understand turner being player of the year being the reason why they took him over cousins, but he is by far way better than hawes and it hasnt been a full season for him, i do not miss hawes lol

Real Talk Real TrophiesParticipantCousins is the truth. Has all the intagibles to be a star in this league. This season he has taken too many jump shots, but honestly the kings are not going anywhere this year and i think he is working on expanding his game and will help in the long run. Great size, but lacking some athleticism, and is still learning how to use his body better (at uk is was just bigger than everyone and could bulldoze his way over them, not the case in the nba). Has a good understanding of the game, soft hands, good passer, and unselfish. I think him being labeled a headcase or such is over rated. The guy does get emotional, but I would like seeing that in my players. The guy cares and wants to win and he will get better about controlling his “pouting” the more he matures. Guy is gonna be a stud! Lets Go Kings!

K.LOVE THE ALLSTARHow is wall a generational talent? Rose,WestBrook,Cp3,Dwill are all playing in this generation. Not including Jennings. Compare that to how many good centers are in the NBA and how often a good center comes into the NBA?? Not saying i’d pick Cousins over wall just saying Wall is not rare

OhCanada-ParticipantIts unbelievable how easily people get caught up in the hype. Hes very athletic yes, and fast thats great but he isnt producing like that generational point guard. He had a nice opening 2 weeks and then fell off, he has been great for a rookie and spectacular even but lets not make it sound like he is leaps and bounds ahead of all other rookies. Even Rose isnt a "generational point guard" because that would imply he is better then Westbrook which he isnt.
Wall gets 38 mpg and gives us 15-ppg, 9-apg, 4-rpg 1.5-spg, 0.5-bpg.
Cousins gets 26 mpg and gives us 14-ppg, 2-apg, 8-rpg, 0.8-spg, 0.8-bpg.
Seems like fast is lying to you guys lol.

Jlv2010his numbers will only go up. He has a tendency to get 2 fouls in the first quarter or third quarter and then sit out a majority of the game. His offensive game is solid but his defense needs lots of work. Maybe he’s learning from Dalembert a little.

JNixonParticipant"Just saying Iggy, you posted his negative attributes but nothing positive. There is alot more positive then negative to talk about with DeMarcus."
Not really. He’s the most foul prone player in basketball, a guy who’s scoring very inefficiently for a guy who’s like 6’10 285 or 290 (honestly he’s inefficient for any player), and he’s struggling on D. I don’t see more positive things than negative RIGHT NOW. Maybe if he improves, but let’s not act like Cousins is having a truly good year. Because he’s not. He’s got polish he needs to add to take the next steps.

BasketBalAllanParticipantIt seems as if there is a double standard when it comes to Cousins. All I ever seem to hear is that people think he is a head case who fouls all the time and throws fits when he does not get his way. While I am wondering, WTF are these people watching.
Cousins gets most of his fouls because he is inexperienced or because he still needs to work on his conditioning, He is not a terrible defender, it is simply hard for a slightly out of shape rookie to come into the league and right away guard huge centers with a variety of post moves. He will learn how to better deal with those things in time, it just takes a little while.
He is not crazy and gets along great with most people, I am fairly sure that at the rookie photo shoot, he was named the most likeable player, and I have yet to hear anything from someone who has been on his team that makes him seem as if he is a bad teammate. He is simply a passionate player who wears his emotions on his sleeve; he is motivate to win games and is not afraid to give the ball to a teammate if they have a better chance at helping the team. Sure, he can get into arguments with coaches and says stupid things sometimes, but it is because he gets frustrated with losing, and he has shown that he can improve upon that and bite his tongue when he needs to. I would like to again reiterate that Cousins is not crazy; like a Kings fan before me said, "i’ve seen plenty of ronron so believe me when i say that this 20 year old rookie is ALREADY more composed than ron. The attitude has been way over hyped, i mean, WAY over hyped".
People seem to be completely over looking the fact that Cousins is progressing faster than most non superstar centers have and not only has the talent to be a great rebounder, scorer, and passer, but has the drive to improve and one day be a great leader.
