er1csh3nParticipantI’d like to know why Demar Derozan is not liked in this site? Just state your reasons, because I see no reason just to hate this guy(who is a good kid). BTW I’m going to argue abour your reasons, so be prepared to prove or be proven wrong.

Scottoant93ParticipantBefore I state my comments you should remake this thread and put in on nbadraft page, so it gets on the front page.
First, I don’t dislike him as a person I don’t like him as a player
Now for my reason
1.He gets blown by on many plays because hes not a good defender(don’t give me a everyone gets blown by in the nba reason, because that doesn’t excuse his lack of defense). It annoys me that he can get away with so many bad defense plays but bargs gets all the blame. they both are too blame
2. While he gets a lot of credit as being the go to guy for the raps instead of bargs(im a fan, but neither of them are franchise players), the team was worse with bargs out and him taking over(team sucked so its not like it made a difference).
3. horrible 3 point shooter
Now he is young, had a horrible coach, horrible team but has potential, but I am not ready to call him the next vince carter simply for his athleticism

JayhawkFan23ParticipantIf i wouldn’t have NBA video games, i wouln’t know who the guy was, but i kinda like him. He’s my favorite player on the Raptors, but thats not much of an honor.

omphalosParticipantTo be honest, I watched a compilation of his career to date which showed him using a number of complicated offensive moves, dunking with authority and this was against great defenders like Kobe and I was sold on him as a franchise player.
However, I took a closer look at him, especially over the off-season in these pick-up games and I’ve had something of a change of heart. His handle isn’t as bad as people make it out, but rather he doesn’t have that fluidity of movement to blow by someone on the perimeter, there seems to be an awkwardness in his movements and he seems to stand very duck-footed.
Even if he improves his shooting, I don’t think he’ll ever surpass VC as a player simply because he doesn’t have that ability to get to the hole with ease that VC still possesses.
He’s a hard worker, and I’m sure he’ll become a better defender among other things, but I just feel like that fundamental lack of smoothness in his athleticism will hold him back, and it’s not really something you can improve to a great extent with training.

er1csh3nParticipant1. Shooting is the easiest drill to get better at, especially with the work ethic like Derozan, Kevin Durant’s sophomore season didn’t help the team very much either, and with Dwane Casey, he will certainly help with Derozan’s deficiencies, he has all the physical tools to make a dominant defender, he just needs to learn.
2. I know he doesn’t have the exact fluidity of VC, but he still has great explosiveness and leap, as for his handles you are right his handle is mechanical, but with increased confidence comes practice and sooner or later he will be comfortable with his go to moves.
Now this is all uncertain, but I am sure Derozan will make strides in his game with his Kobe-esque work ethic.

PyronParticipantif you’re from toronto like me just realize that we’re a canadian team and the US doesn’t get to see the raptors unless their home team is playing them.
we don’t have a star like VC use to be to get people wanting to watch the raptors.
btw i miss basketball on sundays on nbc 🙁
