I’m wondering for years why any team on the planet employing Dell Demps as a GM, as he’s one of the worst ever. He may should run the Sacramento Kings, if they want to be more dysfunctional – not sure that’s possible, but even the Kings did a better job in the past years. I won’t even keep him to be a maid in the locker room. And I feel sorry for Anthony Davis, because he’s locked in until 2021.
I’m absolutely not surprsed fot their bad start as the roster is a complete garbage. For the fifth year of AD, they were still unable to surround him with anything.

    NO are locked in to:
Omer Asik, 44 million, 4 yrs (until 2020): the wosrt starting center in the NBA, but sorry not only in the NBA, we can broaden it to the EuroLeague, Spanish ACB and maybe some other countries. I’m from Europe so I’m always wathcing European and World Championships, and I’m always wondering how can Asik start in the NBA as he’s not even the best Center in Turkey let alone in the EC. My grandmother would be a better offensive player, his only baskeball skill is rebounding. Every team should be glad to get rid of him and his disastrous contract.
Solomon Hill, 48 M, 4 yrs (2020):The Pacers declined his 1.5 M team option, but the Pelicans thought he worth 10 million more. The NBA is lost the ground with 3 and D players. There is a big difference between somebody can make a 3 or a good three point shooter and between somebody is a good defender or he plays defense. Hill isn’t a good shooter or defender, he’s OK and should be a role player not a starter on any team. His career per 36 averages: 10 pppg (40,81,32), 5 rpg, 2 apg, 1 spg, somewhat lukewarm for 48 M
E’Twaun Moore, 34 M, 4 yrs (2020): I always liked Moore since his Purdue days, and I still think he’s a decent role player, but I would feel discomfortable having him as my primary backup at any guard position, and he’s the starter. He’s a massive overpay, a team shouldn’t spend on complementary players if they don’t have anything (besides AD) to complement.
Alexis Ajinca, 14.8 M, 3 y (2019): A backup C for backup money, no problem with it, though I doubt there’s any trade value.
Langston Galloway, 10.6 M, 2 y (2018): A lucky D-Leaguer, who benefited really well from a call-up to a horrific Knicks team, he can put only points to the table, what he was able to do amongst Louis Amundsons, yikes. A shooting guard – who can’t really shoot – in a point guards body, not so hard to find another one in the DL for 500K or lesser.
Dante Cunningham, 6.1 M, 2 y (2018): Nobody wanted DC for the minimum until NO called. A poor man’s Solomon Hill, similar per 36 averages.
Quincy Pondexter, 7.5 M, 2 y (2018): Very similar to Cunningham, the biggest difference he’s always hurt. I’m not sure either worth a one year minimum salary. And we can add Alonzo Gee to that bunch, the worst of all and the last training camp cut (he received a guaranteed money for that title).
Tim Frazier, 4 M, 2 y (2018): The only good value deal, fills the stat sheet, although he isn’t nearby that good, that’s because everybody is that bad around him.
    The rookies:
Cheick Diallo: holds no current basketball value on the court, he has "potential", but I’ll doubt he’ll ever reach it.
Buddy Hield: He’s basketball asset is shooting, in which he’s horrible to start the season. I would be always reluctant to select college Seniors high in the Lottery, since they almost always fade away.
Headache Lance Stephenson and unlucky Terrance Jones will bolt if they succeed.
At this point there’s not much value on this roster, so there is expiring Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday. Former All Star Holiday missed half of his time with the Pelicans and currently also out with a family matter, he’s a good player in my opinion, but not helping his team and he could be traded only cents for a dollar. Evans is also always injured and can’t shoot it at all and if the money comes he’ll leave this summer.
In my eyes this is the worst roster currently in the NBA to build with. No talent for the future, no immediate contributors, just mediocre players locked into long term deals.

The NOP have not done a great job in surrounding The Brow with a reasonable supporting cast, a lot of this has been due to injuries. But when I see them at 0-5, it looks like it could be another long season for them. The plus side is they have AD and Hield looks a nice prospect already but how many years is AD going to want to be having to carry a 30 win team I wonder?

If AD voices concern then I could well see Demps and Gentry being on their way as I’m sure Tom Benson and family would want to do all they can to keep AD happy.

Demps is on thin Ice and I think he knows it: There was rumors of him being fired when Monty got fired.. So part of me believes he is trying to screw that team up on the way out and make the Next GM’s job really really hard (Especially with the contracts he has been giving out). As no one wants to give the guy that follows them a job where they look like a better GM than you. See Cavs current Gm as example, GM before Griffin accumulates assets(I think his name was Chris Grant?) and then you get to use them to form your desired team..Making you look like executive of the year essentially..

The amount of bone head moves Demps has done asstounds me: The bad drafting,The bad free agent contracts and lastly the poor coaching choice who doesn’t even fit your roster..Why he hasn’t been fired makes no sense to me..

But the positives for them they will be in the draft for the next two years getting some more assets and if demps is fired and they don’t waste there money they will able to get some good free agents in 2018/2019.

But Tim Frazier IS good though. I’ve watched most of the Pelicans games on pass (I don’t know why) and he always leaves a good impression in my eyes.

First of all, he has one of the tightest handles in the league. Not flashy, but really, really effective. Not unlike other guards such as Rubio or Russel wherein they have such a loose handle that they struggle with pressure. Frazier does not overdribble and always dribbles with a purpose.

He also has a wet jumpshot. Very confident mid-range shooter and a decent 3 point shooter. He also makes the right passes, and is a floor general in the purest form.

Given that, I do not know why Gentry benched this guy in the 4th in the last 2 games. I know he isn’t the best defender because of his height, but he is pesky. And his production on offense far outweighs his defensive liabilities. I would rather him than Stephenson on the floor, where he will pound the ball for 20 seconds until the crowd gets mad that he does not pass it to AD and chucks up a bad shot.
