DeAndre Jordan's ceiling/potential

What kind of a player do you guys see him 5 years from now? What would his stat line look like, and which NBA player would you compare him to? Obviously the Clippers have a very good starting Center with Chris Kaman, but will DeAndre ever match/surpass Kaman as a player ?

That all depends on if Jordan

That all depends on if Jordan wants it or not because he is athletically better than Kaman now and if he copied Kaman game completely, he would be better than Kaman plus Kaman has a condition where he lose focus sometimes that I think Jordan does not have.

Kaman is also stronger and

Kaman is also stronger and has a more aggressive style of play than Jordan, Jordan's upside is obvious, but I agree Sheltwon, it's whether he ever decides to get his head in it.

I hope Jordan pans out..

I'd really like to trade Kaman for some valuable pieces, and the only way we can do that is for DJ to become a solid center. He doesn't have to be an offensive force, because I think Griffin will take care of that, but he needs to effectively rebound and block shots. If he becomes a Marcus Camby type player, then that'll be perfect.

you want to trade a 20 10 guy

you want to trade a 20 10 guy so that a high risk player pans out?

that wil either make the clips look like genius' or dumbasses

and they dont have a good track record in the risk department

I think at best Jordan is

I think at best Jordan is like a Marcus Camby, but at worst he's similar to Dan Gadzuric. Jordan can be a game-changing defender but I seriously question his offensive ability, and I always have. He has a hard time scoring with his back to the basket, and can only face up and score if his defender doesn't cut off his right hand fast enough to take away his decent jump hook. He has to show that he's willing to develop a post game and then he'll take the next step. He's got all the physical ability in the universe.

I don't know where the

I don't know where the DeAndre Jordan is an amazing athlete hype comes from. Jordan has very good size, from his wingspan to body type and height, but he isn't the elite athlete that a lot of people think he is. It doesn't take a superior athlete to make a great basketball player, and with the combine results and all the talk surrounding that I'll be the first to admit that a lot of draft picks are dead wrong because they are too heavily based on how high a player can jump and how fast he can run without the ball. That being said I still think Jordan has a ton of potential especially from the defensive end, but the one thing a combine does do very straight forward is measure basic athleticism, and compared to Howard, although they are of similar size, Jordan isn't in the same league. Compared to this year's draft Jordan's numbers are very similar to Larry Sanders. Jordan is a very solid athlete for a 6'10'' guy, but Dwight is a freak of nature.

I wouldn't put DJ in the same

I wouldn't put DJ in the same "athletic freak of nature" class as Dwight, but he is an amazing athlete for someone his size. He's capable of some off of the charts highlight reel dunks lol.

I'm not even going off of his combine numbers, which were decent. I'm going off of the eye test and that kid gets up high... And is quick off of his feet too. Once his work ethic matches his God given ability, he could be something. He still has a lot to learn. This is a big summer for him.

I've said this before

I love the upside that DeAndre possess... He's a freak athlete for a 6'11 big man and he can be something special... But the thing is, he's still very very raw... If the Clippers can turn him into Marcus Camby/Dwight Howard (of sorts), then they get the biggest steal of the draft in 2008 and questions will be flying around on those teams that have passed on him in the draft... I see him at worst as Steven Hunter... Hunter was a good defensive big man who is capable of blocking shots when healthy... He aint that bad IMO but his injuries overshadowed his capability on the floor... I hope DJ works hard because the only way that he won't reach his potential is when DeAndre Jordan srcews DeAndre Jordan...

no i dont think he can pass

no i dont think he can pass chris. everyone gets all happy about being a good athlete as a big man and forget its much more important to have skill. i look at things like this sometimes.... if you take away dj's athletic ability what do you have? some say you can say the same thing with howard but howard still dominates while not having alot of offensive skill. The nba is full of guys who can jump that end up not being much more then a bench or role player and have games where they look like starters

honestly

i dont think he will pan out 2 be much more than an ok role player. he may have a few highlights every now and then but i jus dont think he has it. i mean hes in th egym workin gon his gam eeveryday(im guessing) and he seems to not have made any changes 2 his game since last year. his free throw shooting is about as horrible as ben wallaces. i kno he was compared to being a dwight howard like guy but dwight at least has sumthing new he brings to the table every year as far as his game goes.
