DeAndre Jordan

Deandre with 14pts,20rbs,6 blks tonight in 41 minutes. He's played rougly 40 minutes in each of his past 3 getting 7 blks the other night then 6 the following 2 games. 14 rebounds last game. The kid seems to be starting to get it. Nice to see he can go for 40 minutes without fouling out. Kinda odd, Deandre fell to the second round because people questioned his motor, and now, He's starting to show signs as an athletic finisher/rebounder/shotblocker that Oden was expected to be as the number1 pick.

Clippers

WTF do they need Kaman and Diddy for? Try and get a first rounder and a rotation player for Kaman, and hope somebody will take Davis' terrible contract.

Pg is still a question mark, but with Gordon, Griffin, and Jordan, they might be able to get away with a Steven Blake type spot up shooter and facilitator. Bledsoe is too dumb to ever be a starting PG.

I think Baron Davis is

I think Baron Davis is staying for the moment, he seems to have knuckled down a tad and concentrated on playing sidekick to Griffin and Gordon rather then be the man himself. He's been playing relatively well and the Clippers have been playing well themselves.

I sincerely doubt Baron

I sincerely doubt Baron playing DECENT is going to warrant his contract on a half-assed up and coming team. It's killing them financially and they're gonna have to pay the young kids soon which could cause issues. The Clips jump on the first chance at getting out of Barons horrendous salary while getting cap relief, a decent player, decent prospect, and maybe a draft pick or two (if they're luck). Say the Lakers offer up Luke, Blake (who would man the reigns at pg playing the same role with Gordon as he did with Roy, until Bledsoe either learns this same role as he did in Kentucky or they look for a more starter quality young pg),Shanwow who could possibly play well with Gordon or behind him, and one of 3banks or Caracter. If I'm the Clips, I jump on that offer.

Lakers to do a trade with the

Lakers to do a trade with the Clippers? Steve Blake? i don't think so. Baron Davis' contract expires at the same time i think Griffin's does. He'll be there for the rest of this season unless they get all-star potential PG. They'll probably wait til the draft to get a PG and then trade Davis.

DeAndre Jordan is getting

DeAndre Jordan is getting more and more confident with each game.

He's having a significant impact on the glass and at the DEFENSIVE end, which is what the team needs. He's providing energy, defensive intensity, etc. He runs the floor hard. He plays hard and is even showing a little leadership. He's still not great in the low post, but he dunks everything around the rim, so who cares? It's not like the Clippers will be running their offense through him. They don't need him to be a go-to offensive player... Just defend the paint, rebound and dunk when he's close to the rim.

He just needs to keep growing and showing consistency. He has great on court chemistry with Blake Griffin and Baron Davis. It's clear to see how much Griffin has rubbed off on him. I honestly think Jordan and Griffin are the most athletic front court in the league.

He isn't the offensive player that Kaman is, and never will be, but I think the Clippers should look to move Kaman eventually. It makes sense financially and team chemistry wise. Kaman doesn't always play hard or with energy, is sort of one dimensional and is always injured.

If he were taken in the top 5

If he were taken in the top 5 people would be calling him a bust, but since he's a 2nd rounder he's got the best of everyone and is showing the potential to become a future all-star. Greg Oden was playing the kind of ball Jordan has over the past 3-5 games before he got hurt last year. I just think it's funny that people are already saying Jordan is what Oden should have been, when Oden was playing better last year 11 pts 8.5 rbs 2.3 blocks 60% fg and 75% from the line in 23 mins.

Jordan might've been a late

Jordan might've been a late 1st round pick...The Grizzlies were talking about drafting him at the 28 pick of the 1st round....But DeAndre showed up for an interview in a tank top,flip flops and shorts....Then seemed uninterested during workouts...

@arman, reading

@arman, reading comprehension, man, let me dumb it down for you.

People were critical as all hell for Oden for putting up 11 pts 8.5 rbs 2.3 blocks and good shooting percentages.

People are all up in arms after Jordan is having an improved year and a really good 3-5 game span.

It's funny to me that because someone was taken in the 2nd round, putting up similar but worse numbers translate into this guy has more potential than Dwight Howard and he should have been a top 10 pick, but that Oden as a former #1 pick doing the same thing at a higher and more consistant level translates into he's a bust and that's as good as he'll ever be. That simple enough for you?

@JoeWolf1 Yea... I agree

@JoeWolf1

Yea... I agree with you 100%. That's why I didn't respond to the part where he said Jordan is becoming what Oden should've been lol. I thought he went a little too far with that statement.

The best I see Jordan becoming is a Tyson Chandler type, which is still good. A rebounding/defensive presence who needs a point guard to create easy baskets for him. The Clippers need a defensive presence in the middle and Jordan, if he can become consistent, looks like he could be that guy.

IF the 2008 draft was re-done today, I think Jordan would be a late first round pick.

HAHAH,I feel your anger,but let me break it down for you, I DIDNT SAY JORDAN IS BETTER THEN HOWARD I SAID HE HAS MORE POTENTIAL THEN HOWARD,HOWARD IS BEST CENTER IN NBA BUT JUST CAUSE OF LACK OF TRUE CENTER (IM NOT SAYING HOWARD ISNT GOOD,HE IS THE BEST CENTER IN NBA),AND I THINK THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE NOW DYK RIDING JORDAN JUST CAUSE OF 3 GOOD GAMES...I WAS HIGH ON JORDAN SINCE HE WAS DRAFTED..... AND THAT ODEN THING I MENTIONED,I EXPRESED MY SELF WRONG,WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY IS CAN WE LET A GUY LIVE HIS LIFE,THERE IS CHANCE THAT HE NEVER AGAIN PLAYS IN THIS LEAGUE,WE ALL KNOW HES A BUST,HE KNOWS THAT,ITS NOT REALLY HIS FAULT BUT WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID I THINK WE NEED TO COOL OF A LIL BIT ON HIM...

And @QuinceyI don't think

And @Quincey

I don't think LAC stinks at all. They're getting better, especially at the defensive end. They seem to be improving every game. Last night vs Denver, they actually matched Denver in the third quarter and closed the game out in the fourth with defense and timely baskets. That's a HUGE improvement for the Clippers. This team is headed in the right direction.

They haven't played all that bad this season. Just inconsistent execution at both ends and the inability to finish games. It looks like they've started to fix some of those problems. Leaders have started to emerge and they have a legit rotation. They'll only get better once Kaman returns, even though he'll have to figure out how to fit in and play around Griffin and Gordon.

Davis/Bledsoe

Gordon/Foye

Gomes/Aminu/Butler

Griffin/Smith/Diogu

Kaman/Jordan

That's a solid rotation and finishing close to .500 isn't out of the question, even with their poor start.

Other than athleticism and

Other than athleticism and blocking shots, Jordan shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Howard. It's not even close, nor will it ever be close to being close. Jordan does not have more potential than Howard. People are just looking at his dunks and getting excited.

The Clippers will never run their offense through Jordan. Not even a little bit. He's not good offensively, unless you're throwing him lobs. That's it. Defensively, he's improving, but still has a long way to go in regards to understanding rotations, being in the right spot, etc. His work ethic is also still questionable, though he's improved in that area as well.

I think he can be a good center if he keeps working, but he'll never be close to Howard.

well first of all he will never blossom into superstar in clippers..clippers are now organization based around griffin..

and to answer:his big mistake was declaring after one year....he was same player as in HS...so he fall down to 35...team though of him as a project player....BUT if he stayed and learned A post move or two,next year he would mos deffintely go in top 10 even top5... i think he can be what howard is today if team like Philadelphia,Charlotte etc. signs him and start to use his athleticism...he showed us part of his talent last night i mean 14 20 6 is monster game even for DH...BUT i doubt cause most of nba owners today dont have patience and confidence in players....i truly believe that DeAndre Jordan can average 15,12,and 3 if given 35 mpg and if coach actualy runs some offense thru him...

They have gotten better but

They have gotten better but they are still a bad team/bottom feeder team. People can try to spin it anyway they want because they have favorite players on the team or they like watching them (i like watching them) but 11 wins is still 11 wins. They are still one of the worst teams in the NBA and not even close to the playoffs.

How does Deandre Jordan have more potential then Dwight Howard?..please explain that to me

No one was talking this way

No one was talking this way about Nazr Mohammad when he dropped 22 points and pulled down 20 rebounds and blocked 4 shots against a good Utah team in November. Comon' its a couple good games. I agree with Indiana Basketball when he said he could develop in to a Tyson Chandler type big man (thats still pretty good).

These guys are professional basketball players, they are all good at one thing or another if they are getting good minuntes. Just about anyone who is getting 20+ minutes per game is capable of having a huge game on the right night, but not everyone that does is the next superstar of the league or being wasted in the wrong system.

Julian Wright had 15 points 9 boards and 5 assists in a win last night (still a 7-10 man off the bench role player)

@ arman i agree with the

@ arman

i agree with the numbers you said jordan could average but he has long ways to go in terms of putting those numbers up all night.. i would even say for him right now it would be harder to have 5 regular double double games in a row than two 20 and 20 games in a row...

he has the talent to put up monster numbers in rebounds and blocks from time to time and sometimes even decent points but i think he is far away from 15,12 and 3...

and to the howard comparison: i think howard is on defense more than just blocks and rebounds and maybe once in a while a steal. he is defending the pick and roll for example just amazingly good so and many more things like that you dont find on a stat sheet and that is i think what seperates him most from jordan right now...

Wolf i think you

Wolf i think you misunderstood what i was meaning with the Oden comment. I'm not saying he's better than Oden, he's not in the same class athletically with Oden and doesn't have the offensive abilities. What i was trying to convey was that given injuries and inabilities to stay healthy, Oden's potential has now dropped severely IMO.

www.thebasketballguru.com/2010/11/18/greg-oden-gone-for-the-season/

www.nesn.com/2009/12/greg-odens-injury-another-in-a-long-line-of-blazers-disappointments.html

Now look at those pics along with the other two knee injuries and tell me that his athleticism is gonna be nearly as it was. Being that they're only 6 months apart in age, both were looked at as having potential as defensive specialists.What im saying is that DeAndre has improved leaps and bounds, and that Oden is still lacking in overall offensive talent and has more than likely lost some athleticism which would make him an athlete similar to DeAndre. Clearly if Oden is able to regain his athleticism, if he's able to stay healthy, and if he's able to stay out of foul trouble then he's a bigger version of Dwight Howard I think. Even has better touch around the rim. Just seems to be too many if's there for me.

DeAndre being able to play extended minutes, stay injury free, catch and finish inside passes (which there have been plenty of playing with Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin who are both blossoming playmakers), get out in transition both offensively and defensively, and be a shotblocking anchor are basically all things everyone wanted from Oden. .

@iguapops420 I hear you, man,

@iguapops420

I hear you, man, by mentioning Oden, I was mearly stating how funny I think expectations can have on the interpritations of their games and numbers. I wasn't trying to convey Oden's superiority as a player in the future, just that Oden was being called a bust when he was putting up better numbers than Jordan is this season, and Jordan, after a few games, is being held in the light of Dwight Howard and other elite defensive big men.

Personally, I'm unsure as to what level Oden will play at when he returns next year. I was just using his name as an amusing instance of two players with fairly similar games, similar size and age putting up good numbers for stretches and one being called a horrible bust and one being toted for being the next best thing ( or something close to that).

I'm not big on Jordan, but I'm not down on him either. I think he'll develop into a 10 pts 10 boards 3 blocks center, something between a more athletic Kendrick Perkins and Tyson Chandler.

It's not the fact that he had

It's not the fact that he had 3 big games, it's the rate that he has been developing this season. You must not have watched him must kast year or early in the season, if you had you would understand what the praise is about. I will agree saying he's going to become what he should have been was probably a little much. I just personally think he's gonna end up having the overall better career. What I personally think DeAndre can become is a defensive combo of Theo Ratliff/Kendrick Perkins/Tyson Chandler and a guy who can score around 15ppg off of pick and roll, and getting dunks in the paint off of rebounds the way Dwight would his 1st 2 years in the L before he had an offensive game.

Sounds we see about the same in Deandre. Not a franchise big, but a franchise complimentary big perhaps. Yeah I do know what you mean about the comparison's. Hopefully for our sakes and their's, both players reach their potential.

where was howard at in his

where was howard at in his 3rd season as a player? now where is deandre in his 3rd season(with a year of college)?

ya that translates to more potential, moron. dwight isnt a beast because of lack of talent. he is a beast because he works hard. deandre will NEVER be the scorer that dwight is. like someone else said, he is like a tyson chandler type, maybe a little better because he seems stronger and a better leaper.

So wait let me get this

So wait let me get this straight. Jorand is putting up 6.7 pts 6.9 reb and 1.6 blks a game and does what just about every NBA player has done ( had a big couple of games) and now theres all this talk about him? what exactly am i missing here?..He's still inconsistant and not that great of a defender and not much on offense either. he is still not even then Greg oden was as a coming off injury rookie. Greg was more consistant even then and better in his second year than Jordan is now

What rate has he developed at this year?.. He's a career 5ppg 5reb guy that is now putting up 6.7 and 6.9...wow thats some progression

Have you even seen the guy

Have you even seen the guy play? numbers aren't always an indication of growth, as a starter he's avg 8pts and 8reb or something like that. His defense of late has actually been very good, and on top of that blocking a lot of shots. Offensively he can only dunk, but thats all he needs to do with Gordon and Griffin around.

Exactly Lakeshow, The

Exactly Lakeshow, The Clippers are sticking with Teams now thanks in part to the defense that DeAndre brings. DeAndre struggled for that 5 and 5 last year, but he had the numbers, this year he's showing consistency. And stop with the Dwight Howard talk, no one in their right mind thinks DeAndre is ever going to be that good. I Clearly said that Dwight first couple seasons was DeAndre's VERY MAX potential. And no Dwight got those numbers that year by Having the Size/athleticism advantage over his opponent on most nights and could pour in 15 a game off of simple pick and roll, and rebounds back up dunk. Same way Jordan Scores. Given 35 minutes you don't think Jordan can do 15-10 in his prime. Drop the argument, no one thinks DeAndre is on the level of any superstar. Give DeAndre his props.
