Just a thought about a player everybody forget. Now we have seen skilled players like De Colo or Founier succeeding and being able to produce and get some playing time I wonder why everybody forget about Leo Westermann.

So he’s french (like the two players I name before) and has been developped in the “french system” (Insep and then professionaly with ASVEL). He already produced in the proA (french 1st division) with ASVEL (tony parker’s franchise). And he decided to get some experience at a high european level with Partizan Belgrade (former franchise of Pekovic, Vesely, Alecs Maric and LOTS of serbian prospects). He played euroleague with them and had some really nice games (around 10pts 3reb 4 ass 37% at 2pts 43% at 3pts 85% at FT). He’s a good shooter thought but can be streaky at times. Stats don’t show what all this kid gives on the court

A 6’7 in shoes point guard with a GREAT feel for the game, smart clutch player with good passing abilities creativity and will to share the ball. Some athletic limitation (in progress) and questions about the way he could defend 1 on 1 in the nba (but we had the same to say about De Colo ro even Shved)… His best “skill” is his will to improve and love for the game. He has great bball IQ and is already a very dangerous threat playing the P&R. Aggresivness, competition, work ethic… are all some words you will hear when you talk about him.

Leo Westerman has disappeared from the mock drafts… I really could see him being an interesting low risk 2nd rounder left in europe for 2 years before coming (like De colo did with Valencia the spurs).

Well, he is a hugely talented player, but he also can’t shoot very well and he’s not good for defending point guards. I think he is something like more competitive version of Zoran Planinic.

Anyway, he’s not as skilled as De Colo. Fournier has no bearing, he’s a totally different kind of player.

As far as French succeeding in NBA…what does that mean? NBA scouts France like crazy. So I don’t think that means anything at all. French players are given a hugely unfair chance to get into NBA. Them and Spanish players, but especially French players. Even American players get much less chance.

Neither does being able to play in NBA…Westermann can definitely play in the NBA without a doubt, and so can hundreds of other players in Europe. So that means nothing at all either for judging a player. You guys have to stop this NBA only nonsense.

Westermann is a very interesting player for sure. But I think something like to be truth, he must develop his shot to become a top level player. If we are talking French players we should mention Huertel……….another proof of stupid NBA teams. He is another European guy that should have been drafted.

Very good point guard, that is something like Goran Dragic (less athletic though), but with an actual brain, and not a total retard like Dragic is. Huertel is one of the better French players – way better than most of the ones that NBA drafts, and of course was not drafted. Typical NBA nonsense.

I love how you are able to skillfully combine genuine knowledge with extreme bias, I really do.

I’ve seen him play 10+ games this season, and he is def. a level below De Colo and Fournier. He is a good young player, and he joined Partizan, with the goal of getting to the NBA, but doesn’t have great quickness, doesn’t get to the basket consistently and his shooting is hot and cold (I imagine he could become a good shooter with practice). In addition, he’s got very short hands, I mean noticeably and that hurts him defensively. Overall I think he’ll be a high level European PG, not sure about the NBA.
