JBrace19ParticipantI love David Lighty’s game! I personally think that he could be a solid part of an NBA team. He hustles as much as anyone in college basketball right now, he is the hardest worker, and he is a solid all around basketball player. Not to mention his unbridalled leadership skills. I think he could play a role like Wesley Matthews does right now for a team. David Lighty is underrated…

JNixonParticipantHe’s nearly an identical player to Matthews. I think Lighty Jr has a legit chance at being a role player in the NBA. He doesn’t need the ball or a bunch of shots, is a tough defender, he’s physical and has the body to match up with SG’s and SF’s, and he’s smart enough to know whatever role he needs to play. I think he’d be a good player to take if you’re a contender. He’s probably not more than a bench player, but he’d be a nice player to have around.

the lake showI’ve always liked his game since seeing him as a JR in Vegas. Figured it would take him some time in college before people realized how good/versatile he was

kobyzParticipantagree with you all, always didn’t understand why this guy dont get noise about being an NBA player, i think he has a nice all around game, athletic and with improve outside shot he could be a solid starter, someone like Anthony Parker or Arron Afflalo!

TRC1991Participanti dont see the similarities between lighty and matthews besides the physical look of them being identical. Lighty is an undersized PF who is a good passer while Matthews is a solid wing who is a more efficient shooting from the outside…Lighty is good and I see him being a fringe NBA player but he reminds me more of an Elijah Millsap type

JNixonParticipant"Lighty is an undersized PF who is a good passer while Matthews is a solid wing who is a more efficient shooting from the outside…Lighty is good and I see him being a fringe NBA player but he reminds me more of an Elijah Millsap type"
Lighty played PF out of necessity for Ohio State last year because they had a lack of size and depth, and he only plays it now as a mismatch ploy and because you can only play 5 on 4 for small spurts in games (Dallas Lauderdale is an intimidating presence, but he’s not a threat to score at all). He’s a true swingman, but his best position is SF, which is the position he generally starts games at.
Also, Elijah Milsap was more of an energetic, long and athletic combo forward. Lighty is much more fundamentally sound, saavy, and much more perimeter oriented than Milsap. You don’t see similarities in him and Matthews, but him and Milsap really have different strengths and weaknesses, as well as varying athletic and physical traits.

iguapops420ParticipantLighty has always been one of my sleeper’s. Good fundamental defense, smart passer, and a tremendous glue guy. I can see the Mathews comparison’s, but i don’t he will be the same kind of scorer. Lighty reminds me more of a Thabo Sefelosha/Ime Udoka type. He’s a better spot up shooter than Thabo but not nearly the defender. Lacks the quickness, but i think he’ll be a good defender against the smaller shooting guards and some of the older/slower guards. Could end up Danny Green, could end up Ruben Patterson. Only time will tell.

bjcart53ParticipantYeah He is a very nice player…Players like him go anywhere from like 22 overall to 8th pick of the second rounds sometimes even later. But i like those players like him who come in and are ready to play from day one. Wouldn’t it be something if his game translates better than turner’s
