BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantEverytime I mention the fact that there is a thread like this every week on something that pops up in a goofy Warriors boxscore, people react like I have committed NBA heresy but they keep appearing.

HROT88ParticipantIt is not Don’s fault Anthony Randolph, Monta Ellis, Azubueke, Raja Bell, Brandon Wright and Biedrins are hurt. Then again, it probably is.

M-DYMESParticipantNo commitment to defense gets you a sub .500 record 9 times outta 10. Don’s system is not gonna work when the D lacks in transition as much as the Warriors do. You can not build a championship game built of a run n’ gun fastbreak scheme where the D cannot get back. Either Nelson has to realize that, or he has to go.
And what is sad is that that team has so many players who would be great in a halfcourt set team. They got shooters up the wazoo. Have guys like Curry, Azubukie, Williams, Morrow..etc, running of screens. Then have some pick n roll with Ellis and Biedrins. Then you can give time for the team to get back on D and get set. They need more impact players on D, but Biedrins is a solid presence down low and Randolph is a very solid defender.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantDon’t fool yourself, they would be an awful halfcourt team too. It isn’t just that Nellie does not stress defense, it wasn’t overly stressed with BD, Jackson, Richardson, Harrington, et al. It is that their mix right now simply does not have five people who can lock in and get stops when needed. It is utterly embarrassing to the league for that team’s games to be played at so low a level of defensive intensity and ability.
