negguaryParticipantOut as the Memphis Grizzlies head coach. I just don’t understand the trend in the league that’s now what four or five coaches, three if which were quality coaches who have been fired. Of course Memphis got rocked his two top players were out and he still got them to the playoffs. I’m heading frank Vogel is the less candidate but if I’m Frank I would stay away because their and old roster with no upside, and they clearly have no loyalty to quality coaches. Apparently the Kings want Dave bad! So where do people think all these coaches end up going???

Too FastParticipantI bet he really wishes he would’ve taken the Minnesota job a couple years ago right about now..

TarHeelRavenParticipantThe NBA is unfortunately a "what have you done for me recently" league. His press conference where he was emotional talking about the fight in his team and how they never quit was great to see even though his team was short-handed without Conley and Gasol. Joeger is a good coach and I’m sure he’ll find another job soon.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantThey say that’s the reason Memphis fired him. For the second time in three seasons he asked to speak to other teams

BleedGreen808ParticipantMarc Stein: NBA sources say Grizz GM Chris Wallace secured permission to pursue the Kings’ recent front-office vacancy before Sacramento pursued Joerger.
If that’s true then wouldn’t that be hypocritical of Wallace to say this: "The decision was made because I believe you need a deeply committed leadership team in order to establish the strong culture needed for sustainable long-term success."

BiggysmallsParticipantQuite frankly I think Joerger is better off not in Memphis. The owner there is a moron and as many people have pointed out, the team hit its peak and is on the downswing.
I wouldn’t touch Sacramento or NY…not sure what other jobs are out there. I guess these guys can’t be too picky if they want to coach but Joerger and Vogel are both really good coaches and won’t be without jobs for long.
I’d rank both in that third tier of NBA coaches probably
First Tier: Elite guys
Pop, Carlisle, Kerr (maybe)
Second Tier: Really good + potential to reach elite
Thibs, Stevens, Budenholzer, Stotts, Spo
Third Tier: Not much different than the second tier honestly
Joerger, Vogel, Clifford, SVG

HitsterParticipantDave Joerger has 3 solid winning seasons as a Head Coach and previous to that a good reputation as a top defensive Assistant coach so I’d guess he gets snapped up soon by another team.
I agree that he may not want a part of Sac-Town but might be tempted if the Knicks came knocking.
I could see him maybe having a year as a lead assistant on a team and then looking for another lead job again.
Given his defensive track record, I could see him being of interest to Thibs at the T-Wolves. GSW need to replace Luke Walton and the Luke Walton himself might like a very experienced guy like Joerger as his lead assistant too.
Also I could see Dave and Lionel Hollins possibly linking up again in due course.
