TheWizardParticipantLooking through yahoo nba depth charts, I noticed that they had TJ Ford starting over Darren Collison. Will Collison have to learn the ropes for 10-15 games and be a back-up to Ford, or will the Pacers try to develop young talent and let him start to see how he does? Also, is there any possiblity of George ending up as a starter by the end of the year?

JNixonParticipantYeah Collison is starting over Ford. I’d bank on that.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantYeah no way, Collison is absolutely starting. Collison averaged 18.8 ppg 9.1 assists and 1.4 steals in 43 games as a starter last year. Ford averaged 9.6 points 3.8 assists and 1.1 steals. tough decision.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantThe way I look at it is, Ford is out.. Its that simple.. They dont care to banish players.. They did it to Tinsley.. That means if Collison doesnt start, the they have to start Lance..
That means that Collison is the starter and the Robin to Granger from day one…

IndianaBasketballParticipantI doubt George ends up being the starter at the two this season. He’s the Pacers’ lottery pick, but he isn’t the best rookie on the team. I think Stephenson has more of a chance to start at the two than George.

Counting StarsParticipantEvery indication I’ve gotten is that the Pacers are desperately trying to trade Ford and are looking at possibly buying him out.

fastdanParticipantyahoo`s depth charts are notoriously wrong. Disregard them at all costs.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantCollison will be their starting PG at the start of the season, that is the reason why the Pacers acquired him, they have a great deal of hope in him as a player, now all they need is a solid PF to start and I actually believe then that they could battle for the 8th seed in the East, they have a nice young core to build around as well with George, Collison, Hibbert, Stephenson and Granger which is a great core to add pieces around.

durantula83ParticipantCollison will start and Stephenson will back him up and play some leftover minutes at the 2. I’d be suprised if Ford would still be with the team by November. If they can’t trade him, the Pacers will probably cough up a buy-out that’s very close to his salary. I don’t think they still want him around, Ford isn’t exactly fit to function as a mentor to these young cats.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIF they’re going to buy him out, it’s going to have to be his full salary… He’s made it clear that he won’t accept a penny less.
