BeastMode716ParticipantI’m not a Celtics fan & I know it’s early
but I believe b/c Boston was the #1 seed last year we’re all taking it for granted that they should just win when they throw on that famous green jersey
But the Celtics have only returned One starter from the Eastern Conference #1 seed team & that is Al Horford who is No spring chicken
Horford is the consumate professional but he doesn’t give Boston much on Defense in terms of Rim protection from the PF spot which is rough b/c they have nothing at Center
In addition, the C’s have a Very young team. The fact that last season’s #1 seed has a 2nd year player & a Rookie starting & playing major minutes & they are still winning is pretty remarkable
And I credit Kyrie for this – he’s is playing under control beautifully – we always knew Kyrie had the pur athleticism to get his points but he is showing beautiful intelligence & feel for the game at the :PG position
He pays careful attention to gettting his young teammates open looks early which builds confidence
I don’t know how many games Boston can win this year w/ this line up – afterall they have an absolute nobody at Center – so they lost All that perimeter defense & inexperience but it has made me that much More impressed w/ Kyrie

Memphis MadnessParticipantGood picks. Not sure Blake and Marc are "sexy" enough or selfish enough to put up monster stats every night. I would assume each gets around 20 and 10 with some AST/STL/BLK/3PTM for the entire year.
I WOULD love to see the MVP award go to the BEST player on the BEST team — even if that is Kyrie or Marc, or Blake, but I don’t see it happening…
More likely it goes to a Warrior, Greek Freak, LeBron, Harden, or Westbrook. Or Kawhi Leonard once he starts playing and if he can stay healthy and keep the Spurs near the top of the standings.
I don’t see the Pelicans making the playoffs (or at least not as a high seed) so I don’t see Cousins/Davis being in the running.
The MVP award will probably go to a "name" player with gaudy stats whose team wins at least 55 games (and preferably 60). That will narrow it down.
My super-duper-uber MVP sleeper pick is Ben Simmons. Already has a triple double and is putting up really, really nice all-around stats. If he can drag the Philadelphia $70 Suckers into the playoffs then I can see him being in the conversation. Hey, he might HAVE to average 18, 7, and 9 for Philly to have a fighting chance…

SubZeroParticipantPoint Blake was one of my most anticipated things about this season and he’s showin out. If he keeps it up and they keep winning, I don’t see how he can be left out of the conversation

Memphis MadnessParticipantJohn Wall, too. He’s somewhere between a mainstream MVP candidate and a fringe MVP candidate.
Wall is probably in the top 10 and I think the Wiz have a real shot at getting to the Finals this season.

BallerScriptParticipantGasol, Griffin, Wall, PG13 and Boogie are some guys who will be in the conversation as darkhorse winners

OhCanada-ParticipantNone of those guys are true darkhorses to me. Mine would be Vucevic.
The Orlando Magic are 3-1 led by the play of Nikola Vucevic who looks incredible. Its not only the shooting but he is alot quicker laterally and is in the best shape of his life allowing him to play much better defensively. We will see if Orlados for real but they did blow out the Cavs and shouldnt be taken lightly.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThough I kind of doubt he’ll keep up this pace all season long ( especially once kawhi returns) lamarcus Aldridge has definitely rediscovered his game for the moment and is playing at an all-nba level once again so far this season.
