Darius Miller vs. Scotty Hopson as pro prospects

Darius' stats are on the left and Scotty's on the right...

  • scoring - 10.2 to 16.2
  • shooting - 49% to 43%
  • 3 pointers - 46% to 36%
  • free throws - 83% to 76%
  • rebounds - 5 to 3.4
  • assists - 1.9 to 1.5
  • blocks - 1.2 to 0.3
  • turnovers - 1.6 to 2.6
  • steals - 1 to 0.8

Let's just assume either of them get drafted (not given). Who would you take?

Scotty Hopson has tons of

Scotty Hopson has tons of upside, is a great athlete and has a shot at being a pro.

Darius Miller won't sniff the pro's, doesn't have near enough skill.

Not sure why you're comparing those 2?

Miller has a chance at the pros. The Pro's are full of guys who didn't seem liek they could play int he NBA but made it because they could do the little things liek play defense

Not sure why Hopson is being

Not sure why Hopson is being given the "upside" card over Darius Miller. Miller is stronger, has equal or better athleticism, has actually proven that he can do more than score on the college level (which he is WAY more efficient at than Hopson). IMO, Miller needs to be just as in love with his shot as Hopson is (which is broke, BTW) and can play 3 positions.

Miller has deferred to higher ranked players his whole career. Hopson has asserted himself as the leading scorer on a team that should probably have 2-3 players taking the shots ahead of him. Switch the teams and Miller FAR outproduces Hopson...

Miller is a career role

Miller is a career role player. Up until a couple of weeks ago he hadn't scored in double figures in consecutive games in HIS ENTIRE CAREER. That should tell you enough right there. Hopson has 10 times the upside and is a much better athlete. The ONLY reason Miller is more efficient at scoring is because he's afraid to shoot and will only shoot when he has an open look. Hopson actually creates his own shot.

Miller might play overseas but he won't be seen anywhere near the NBA draft.
