 I honestly have never seen him play but from what I’ve heard, it sounds like he’s an extremely hard worker with great size and solid athleticism.  That’s great, but to me, the most important thing that separates the elite guards from the good ones is the first step.  If his first step truly is on par with Westbrook, Rose, and Wall then he has to be a top 4 pick and could be the best player in the draft.  I admit I haven’t seen him play but a 6’6 player with point gaurd skills and Westbrook quickness? That’s ridiculous.  So for those of you that have seen him, is his first step truly elite or is it overrated?  That’s what I think should be the deciding factor for where he gets drafted.

 Im from Australia. Ive seen Dante play. I would have to say he is a quicker of version of pre-injury Shaun Livingston.

The kids of former pro players from the US who played in our league are just coming through now, all have talent and have the world at their feet. Examples of father son combos are Cecil & Dante Exum, Dave & Ben Simmons and Bruce & Jonah Bolden.

Dante has the ability to be a starter for sure. It may take him longer to develop, but really, does that matter? It depends whether you consider drafting a player that can be a starter a risk. As good as this draft is, i think the only player that could carry your team to the playoffs alone is Embiid. Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Vonleh and Randle may be future all stars,  but if they are your NBA team’s best player, you’ll be in the lottery every year. Look at Kevin Love. So depends what you expect. Dante may be a risk to you. Elite? I dont think he can be Westbrook scoring wise. He’s quick. He’s coachable. He’s athletic. He’s a good kid. I dont think drafting him is going to get a GM fired.

I’m not comparing stats or ceiling… I’m seeing similarities on tendencies between both.

To clarify, id say Dante is at worst Shaun Livingston, more likely to be Devin Harris (at all star peak), with a ceiling of Penny Hardaway.

 I met him at the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) down in Melbourne and from what I saw at workouts he can make an impact at NBA level. His first step and sharp lateral movements are ridiculously quick for a 6"6 guy. He’s a bit of a knob but he’s a hell of a player.
