Who’s the better prospect? I think right now I’d rather have D’Angelo Russell, he has more star potential in my eyes. Kris Dunn is built like a tank (6’4" 220) ala Marcus Smart. He seems more mobile than Smart too. Both these players have star potential.

Dunn is the better natural athlete and defender. However, Russell’s court vision, feel for the game and outside shooting ability give him the edge on Dunn imo. Hes also younger than Dunn. Not that I couldn’t see the argument for Dunn over Russell but right now I’m taking Russell if given the choice. Dunn is more similar to Emmanuel mudiay imo.

I actually wouldn’t mind having both of them to be honest with you and I think there games could compliment each other  pretty well. Both are big and long enough to defend SGs and Russell could play off the ball and slide over to pg when Dunn is out of the game. I know that’s not going to happen but just an observation.

I think Simmons and Ingram are better than Russell. No one else in the draft though. Maybe Jaylen Brown if he improves his jumper.

Dunn is a far better defender. He is also a better distributor because of his ability to drive and kick.  He can penatrate the lane with or without the ball. I think Russell will need to be more of a perimeter based passer, setting guy up when they slash to the basket or back door cuts.  They are both good at what they do just different styles.  But I choose Dunn because of his defensive potential. And i think he can finish at the rim better than Russell. So more trips to the line.

Russell has a higher upside. Better outside shot, probably just as good of handles, savvy old-man game style. Russell had a pretty good rookie year, so I don’t know why everyone is so down on him. He’s not a great defender, but very few rookies come into the league and make an impact on that end right away. Give him time to work on his body and learn the NBA game and he’ll be a very good player.

I love Dunn and want the Wolves to draft him though I doubt he’ll be available at 5 but I see his ceiling being like a Jrue Holiday. A good starter, maybe even an all-star on occasion, but he’s got weaknesses aplenty.

Jrue Holiday is the opposite of Kris Dunn. Jrue is a jump shooting PG that has trouble getting to the rim and avoids contact.  Hence the 3 FTA per game.  Dunn is a slasher and lives at the line, he is built for contact.

Hmm…perhaps I’m off with that comp. I always thought it was solid in that they are bigger, defensive-minded PGs who aren’t great shooters but have enough athleticism to make an impact.

Maybe Reggie Jackson is a better pure comp for him. Either way, I think Dunn projects at his best to be a very good starting PG. Think Russell could be an All-Star caliber guy and a major difference-maker.

Yeah i kind of figured you were going with the size/defense comp. Didnt mean to jump all over you there.  I watched jrue for four years in philly and did a lot of yelling at the tv when he would take a pull up jumper with only one guy to beat in the lane.   They haveboth had their injuries as well
