Whatever happened to Damion James? I thought this guy was an NBA ready player who can be your typical energy guy off the bench... He's got the athletic ability and skills to have been successful in the NBA... I knew about the successive injuries he has had during tenure with the New Jersey Nets but do you think he'll get a better shot than a 10-day contract to any team next season?
Going into the draft people kept saying he was going to be a steal and he never stood out in the league and couldn't stay healthy. He was also stuck between positions. For a few years there the Nets were the team where some of my favorite college players would get drafted by only to underachieve and never recover from it. I.E. Damion James, Sean Williams, Marcus Williams, Terrence Jones, Hassan Adams.
Terrence Jones? wtf?
He didnt have enough bulk to bang against NBA PF, and didnt have enough perimeter skills to be a SF.
In my opinion, it was injuries rather than any major holes in his game or position. In 3 seasons, including the D-League he's played 41 games. He didn't exactly suck when he got into games, he seemed like he had the potential to be a nice glue guy type SF. Quincey Poindexter or Sam Young weren't any better than Damian was coming out of school, they just didn't get hurt every single season. If Damian could get back to 100%, I still think he could be a 6 ppg 4 rpg player off the bench, but after the past 3 seasons, I have a hard time thinking he will be able to stay healthy.
I hear Sean WIlliams has another career as a traveling saleman. He just needs to stop getting caught for it to become lucrative.
Al Thornton as well.. Disappeared off the face of the earth
Yeah I meant Terrence Williams, my bad.
@LTrain32: Al Thornton was an older rookie but he makes me cautious about getting too excited after their first couple of seasons. He averaged 12.7ppg and 4.5rpg his first year 16.5ppg 5.2rpg and then dropped off
