Damian Lillard Vs Kemba Walker
Is damian lillard really better than kemba walker? everyone loves and raves about lillard(rightfully so) yet no one ever talks about walker, probably cause he plays for the cats. Walker was the most underrated point guard in the league last year and had the 6th highest PER among point guards. Yes lillard stats were better than walkers last season, but there's no way lillard would have led the league in minutes played with Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon as his backups. Sessions was actually 1 of the best backup point guards in the league be 4 his injury. Lillard really didn't have a back up and was allowed to play through mistakes and poor shooting nights. Lillard played with an All Star, a rising star in Batum, a 2 way player in Mathews, and 1 of the most underrated players in the league last year in hickson. walker played with non shooters in Henderson and MKG and a front court that featured josh mcroberts and biyombo.
I'm not saying that walker is definitely better than lillard, but it's close. Walker was forced to carry a bobcats team that had just him and Henderson who scored in double digits among the starting 5, so defenses were keyed in on him. I still think that walker has All Star potential and if he was playing on a different team with more talent he would stand out more.
I totally agree with what you have stated. I also want to add everyone's argument of "he's only putting up big stats on a bad team". I don't always get how this is a negative for a player. Would it not be harder to put up good stats while being the focus of your teams offense and trying to get assists from teammates who can't shoot/finish? Would it not be easier to have an star big man to play off of and some wings who can shoot the ball? When you're a first option and defenses key on you and you can still put up good/efficient stats, you're a good player in my books. Also, if you can put up good/efficient stats when playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle to other players, you're also good in my books. I'm not picking sides in which player is better, but like the OP said they are much closer than people make it seem to be.
People only use that argument when they don't like someone to begin with. Iverson's teams sucked, but they think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Walkers team sucks, so they think he sucks. You can't really have it both ways, but they try.
Lilliard is the better player, right now he's among the 10 best point guards in the nba..And will soon be an all star, if he stays healthy..........
But Walker is no slouch either..Kemba has surprised me on how well he has performed as a pro..I figured he would be this selfish gunner, that only looked for his own shots........But looks to get team mates involved, active on defense- he averaged 2 steals a game last season..
Paul, Rose, Westbrook, Rondo, Williams, Wall, Curry, Parker, Irving (not in order) are or should absolutely be the top 9. That leaves Lillard with Walker, Lawson, Holiday, Conley and Rubio fighting for #10. Is he really better then all of them? I think not.
I'd take Lillard over those guys for the #10 spot. However, it's close and comes to what you're looking for.
With the season I'm expecting from Rubio I think he'll cement himself as the 10th guy this year. I just don't buy the hype on Lillard right now. I think he's destined to be one of those very good but never great players. As for #10 right now, give me Mike Conley. Can do anything Lillard does offensively, did it on a good team and blows him out of the water defensively.
Y2g.. Once Get pass rose, paul, westbrook,d will, rondo and parker,u wont will not get a consensus on the remaing pgs from everyone.. Some might prefer lilliard over wall
oh i forgot deron williams. maybe you did to??? he could be somewhere mentioned as well imo.
DL better scorer, Kemba a better defender, look at the numbers. I like both players though. Wish Kemba played in a better situation.
Kemba is a warrior man.... Love his game
Kemba Walker is a stalker and a gawker
I've always liked Kemba Walker because he has the heart of a lion. I think an improved bobcats team will lead more people to start seeing how valuable he really is
