Dallas is kinda stupid

So why did they not bring Mayo back? Mayo has his best season last year with Dallas, he played like the player had thought he could be coming into the NBA, nearly an all-star. He got a 3yr deal worth $24mill, which is a steal for a guy who was playing at an all-star level last season for Dallas. Why not spend the money Dallas spent on Calderon on Mayo (about equal, Mayo got a few million more) and still bring in Harris to play PG?

If Dallas wants to contended for the playoffs (which it looks like with bring in veterans), they'd have a better chance with a backcourt of Harris & Mayo rather than Calderon & Harris. Plus Mayo is much younger, only 25, so it helps them long-term too.

While I agree with you, I

While I agree with you, I don't know why you keep mixing "all-star" and "OJ Mayo" when he only averaged 15-4-3 on a team that didn't even make the playoffs. That is nowhere near being an all-star.

I think he fell off just

I think he fell off just before or after the all-star break. I do recall at one point when Nowitzki was out, he was playing really well and some people on here said he should be considered for an all-star spot.

Pre All-Star numbers 17-4-3

Pre All-Star numbers

17-4-3 on a 23-29 team.

Still not an All-Star.

Carlisle and Mayo did not see

Carlisle and Mayo did not see eye to eye. Carlisle questioned his heart publicly.

Mayo was having his best

Mayo was having his best season before he dropped off. I agree. To be honest he played his 1st 2 seasons in memphis very well i thought. almost similar to his start this year. he averaged 18pts a game, its just memphis had too much scoring so he was relegated to the bench. should have traded gay and kept mayo to begin with. mayo would have averaged round 15-17pts and been in a corfortable role of not having to be the guy every night. He also would have been more than willing to give up the ball the zBO and gasol, memphis' strength. With the mavs I didnt like his lack of aggression as the season went on. At 1st when he started shooting less he was making good passing and i thought okay pg. Then he started turning the ball over badly, and i thought, just when i was about to label him the guy i knew he could after i used watched him scorch guys easily in high school on youtube, he let me down.
For the Mavs after mayo, just wait and let the season playout. You cant move forward by signing a guy,Mayo, who cant be mentally strong when the team needs him to be. Mavs veterans have proven they have no quit in them. Hopefully these guys coming in possess the resolve that can bring together a union of knowlege to winning. Hopefully harris can come back to dallas with a mindset that this is his 2nd chance to prove he can be what the mavs need him to be. Regardless of who leaves, Mavs play with pride and have a great motivator as a coach and leader on the floor with nowitzki. Maybe mavs moves havent been conventional but im not gone let you, fandango or whatever just post(Dallas kinda stupid) without a response. Dont need your acceptance. GO DALLAS MAVERICKS

Contract year player at his finest. For their team, I'd rather sign Calderon too

OP What are you talking about?

I don't know what you were watching, but O.J. only looked like an All-Star caliber player in November & December when Dirk Nowitzki was injured. He didn't exactly finish the season strong either. He was terrible in April and wasn't much better during the month of March. While he did space the floor with his three-point shooting, no way in hell did he have his best NBA with Dallas. I really have no clue how you can sit there and argue that Mayo was "nearly an All-Star". What? The guy had a relatively half decent year. But yeah I am a bit surprised that the Mavs let him go. I honestly thought they'd offer him a 2-3 year deal in the $6-8 million/year range. I guess I was wrong.

They have it in their heads

They have it in their heads that all premium free agents want to come there and play with a bunch of 35 year olds. They will more than likely strike out next year as well.

It's easy to say who you think a team should sign

That doesn't mean they can just do it. Maybe Mayo didn't want to play in Dallas. It isn't all the teams choice, so they aren't stupid.

Which backcourt for Bucks you would like to see more, Ellis/Mayo or Jennings/Mayo? Which player they should be bringing back in yours opinion?

Our organization has been

Our organization has been stupid ,that is true
but b/c we offered money for Calderon not OJ? no
look ,I've been one of Mayo biggest fans since the draft ,I actually kept insisting he will be better than Rose after his first 2 years until it was so clear he isn't,I was really happy when the Mavs got him too
but it was clear at the end of the season we won't resign him ,he makes a lot of stupid mistakes late in the game, something that a coach like Rick won't stand ,he was also declining as the season goes on and actually was never good fit next to Dirk
