dmo21ParticipantNow that the Mavs got spurned by Jordan, where do they turn? They now have a bunch of cash freed up, but no big time centers are left and Dallas has pretty much no center on their roster. With this money they could probably grab a couple quality bigs (even though they’ll end up being overpriced). I’d be looking at Seraphin and Jordan Hill. They both bring different styles to the game, but the both are very good rebounders and are young enough to still have potential. Or you go for the wild card that is McGee.

festar35ParticipantThe trade to Lakers has not happened yet and Lakers need to move piece to make it happen, I guess Dallas could swoop in with something more concrete and get Indiana to agree to a deal.
Hibbert isn’t Jordan, but he is better than McGee, Seraphin or Hill and if it doesn’t work out you only have him for a year.

220ParticipantThis is devastating for Dallas as now they’re not even a playoff team with their current roster. Attempting to acquire Hibbert is the strongest option they have at Center and Jordan Hill seems like another option worth looking into.

ExumInfernoParticipantDallas are in big trouble, there isn’t any help out there. Everyone has been signed.
No need to say Amare, Dallas already tried and didn’t win with him.
Maybe overseas, somewhere in Europe there must be a veteran with a contract that is up.
Dirk at center would work offensively, but would be terrible for him on the other end.
The available free agents, it isn’t good. Maybe Ekpe Udoh. Blocks, fouls and rebounds. Jeff Withey, blocks. Dalembert again?
The Mavs may not make the playoffs, they don’t get a draft pick due to the Rondo trade unless they are really bad. They don’t want to be really bad.
If it was me, I would trade everyone and go for the top draft pick.

sitlbitoParticipant"Maybe overseas, somewhere in Europe there must be a veteran with a contract that is up." Boban Marjanovic wants to play in the NBA. He’s a legit 7 foot 3 played in red star Belgrade last year, averaged 16 and 10 in 26 minutes. He won’t be a star whatsoever, but when you see the free agents on the NBA market,I’m not sure he’s worse than them honestly. The best center free agent out there might be Kevin Seraphin.

bmac697ParticipantFrom what I was reading Hibbert is who they’ll get. Makes the Mose sense and considering the supposed deal to lakers was only for a second round, I don’t see why Indiana would help out Dallas and at least give them something to soften the blow of losing Jordan. I heard rumours but wasn’t sure if I trusted them, obviously were true. But he has every right to pick his team, and if he’s having second thoughts means wasn’t right choice to begin with. I like the whole lob city and was kinda upset we wouldn’t see a griffin and Jordan highlight reel again but now it’s up to Jordan to step up and show us why he was so sought after.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI’d take the rist of Kevin Seraphin. He’s 25 years old with gerth and has shown flashes of an offensive game. He’s not going to be too expensive and has the most upside out of all the guys mentioned. He’s never seen consistent minutes over his career due to veterans ahead of him.

BleedGreen808ParticipantThe worst part for Dallas is they gave their pick next year to Boston in the Rondo trade. That pick is top 7 protected. They need to either tank hard to keep a top pick or be good enough that they aren’t giving up a lottery pick. I can’t see them making the playoffs with the roster they have now. They wanted Lin at point guard but he’s signing with Charlotte. They don’t have many options to fill out the roster now.

markfitz14ParticipantCuban said if he didn’t get Jordan they were going to tank the season. They could trade away Dirk and easily by one of the worst in the leauge. They could even fake a Dirk injury or just play bad in general and get inside the top 7. This sucks for the Celts if they decide to tank. If the Celtics don’t get the pick this year does anyone know what they get?
0- Posted on: Thu, 07/09/2015 - 6:06am #999266
BleedGreen808ParticipantI don’t see them being that bad though. I’d be shocked if they moved Dirk. What happens if they tank and they can’t get bad enough to be top 7? They could only make it worse by handing a pick in the 8-10 range. So I wouldn’t say it’s terrible news just yet for Boston.
I looked it up and the pick looks like its Top 7 protected through 2020. Then it becomes unprotected in 2021. So this might be Boston’s best opportunity to come away with a good pick from the Rondo trade.

omphalosParticipantMcGee is sitting there getting ready to count his money.
Someone has to take a flier on one of the few legitimate 7-footer remaining.
Could he actually thrive under Carlisle where he’s extremely limited in his offensive responsibilities in the Chandler role?

Mr. HookShotParticipantSeraphin is more offense than defense, so I would say he is not a good fit. I like either Hill or McGee for this team. Hill will bring the energy and hustle needed next to Dirk, while McGee has unlimited potential but not basketball mind (yet). In my opinion, Carlisle is one of the 3 best coaches in the league, so I believe he would be able to get the most out of McGee. A contract like 3 years $18 seems reasonable, and I don’t see any other team willing to take a flier on this guy.

King CaluchaParticipantHill isn’t a good defender despite all the hustle. Actually he has a couple of moves in the post which are very very solid. Good rebounder but definitely not a rim protector.
McGee’s IQ is so low. If it’s a 1+1 team option contract. I’d take the risk.

benny15Participantid have to disagree, id rather have seraphin over mcgee. seraphin may not have the length or athletic abilities of mcgee, but he is a much smarter player and that is important in playing for rick carlisle. with the ammount of plays that rick normally calls, especially now that they dont really have a natural playmaker, i think mcgee would just get lost on his role on both ends of the court.
at this point, id rather the mavs trade for chris anderson and sign seraphin then rotate between the 2 and zaza who will start at center this season. anderson if they need more hustle and defense, zaza if they need hustle, a banger and someone who has a soft touch in the post or seraphin if they need someone who can help stretch the floor and give them an extra offensive weapon in the starting unit.
then next year, they can either try again with hassan whiteside(young, hard to get) or joakim noah(vet, easier to get given his diminishing numbers and reduced role on both ends of the court)

CynthiaParticipantThe Mavs keep getting screwed in free agency, which is surprising because Cuban is probably one of the richest, most involved, and entertaining owners a player will ever find. Personally I’d love to play for a guy like Cuban, an owner who actually gives a flip about his team.
Just a few years back it seemed like the Mavs had no problems getting almost anyone they wanted in free agency, I wonder what happened because now it feels like they’re almost blacklisted these past couple of years.
I was pretty excited to see Jordan heading to the Mavs, would have been a nice shake-up in the West and made Mavs a legit title contender again.

And free agency needs to be fixed.

timinator1ParticipantChuck Hayes, Tyler Hansbrough, Jason Maxiell, Kendrick Perkins. Each of these guys would probably take a one or 2 year deal. None are ideal, some undersized, but…with the league chatter about going "small", doesn’t playing Dirk at the 5 make more sense anyway? Especially with Parsons and Matthews to spread the floor?

IndianaBasketballParticipantGreg Oden probably makes their roster now. I’ve read he’ll be in training camp or something.
I think they should take a chance on McGee (or "Jumpy McStupid as BothTeamsPlayedHard likes to call him lol). It could be a low risk high reward situation. Maybe the Dallas coaching staff can get something out of him.

Zaza Pachulia.
Bucks save money, free minutes for Monroe and Henson. Dallas might send a second rounder, they get a physical player to bang in the paint.
