True. All they have

True. All they have is

Landry, Dalembert, Thompson and Brockman. I would think they go with a big in round 2 and another wing in round 1.

I don't like Hawes really at all. Too soft for my liking. I think Nocioni can be a solid bench player for us though if he came over, albeit for an overpaying price for a few years.

Definitely won't see me crying over Dalembert being gone, but I think a defensive presence needs to be signed somehow. Speights, Brand, and Hawes has the makings of a horrible defensive frontline.

Oh, and I think Sacto will take Cousins or Monroe here no matter what. Thjey were going to pick one of them even if Hawes was still on the roster.

But I don't think they NEED a big. The Kings did not use BPA last season so I don't know why you said that.

I think right now? I would say Sacramento saw all the bigs and thought maybe we could pick up a Larry Sanders or Jerome Jordan in round 2? I dunno. Just a thought.

If they do go big, I don't think he would start either...

wow, they are REALLY thin on the wing, with only Francisco Garcia and Tyreke... Still, I think they take Cousins or Monroe. They also might be thinking the first four picks will be wall-turner-favors-cousins, leaving them with Wesley Johnson? I could see them taking Johnson over Monroe, but not Aminu

I think the Kings thought Evans was BPA last year. (besides Rubio, but didn't Rubio say he wouldn't play for them or something? and who can blame anyone for not taking rubio with his buyout and everything)

No Deal unless they give us the Fifth Pick

Sam's deal is expiring and Noci's isn't...Hawes is not a deal sweetner...If we can Dump Lou Will and Sam for Nocioni and The 5th than we got a deal...Hawes aint a Center...Not a very good one at least...He's decent but not the impact Center we need...Some one like a young Camby....fast breaker and shot blocker...Hawes is too slow to run with the youth...he's skilled but too fineese...we have Speights in that same boat right now...Give me the Fifth to take on your crapping contract...I'll re do the deal like this

Sammy/Lou Williams and Thad Young and for Nocioni/Hawes and the Fifth...It's the same deal except you get a young Scoring Pg and Sf...We get a shot at Cousins or Monroe to pair with Turner...

Rubio said that he wanted to play for the Kings last year and I am pretty sure he thought he was a shoein for their pick, which would be why he was pissed when it did not happen.

Ripple effect

Guess the Kings decided he wasn't so Hawesome after all.

I do agree that this was mostly about cap room for the Kings, but they like Dalembert and maybe they think they might be able to resign him for a lot less next year. If not, they cleared out a lot of cap room, so a positive either way.

I also agree that they still take Cousins, or Monroe if Cousins is gone, if they stay at 5. It might make it more likely they trade back if they get a really attractive offer from someone wanting Cousins at 5, however. They could add an extra pick or player and still get someone they're really high on if they slid back a few picks. I think they'll stay put, but it worries me a little that this might open up the door to trading back and passing on Cousins, something I don't want them to do personally.

As a Kings fan though, I'm cool with the deal. It doesn't get me pumped, but I understand the reasoning.

Scarecrow- This is a real deal, it's gonna happen.

Also, No- The Kings wanted Rubio but he got sick and Evans impressed and they took Evans.

Right now, I could see Kings do a move down. Maybe:

Greene and the 5th for Brandon Rush, 10th and 40th picks? I dunno.

guard in 2nd round for the Kings

The Kings are fine at the 3 for now - they get to give Casspi and Greene all the minutes they can handle this season to see what they've got. If it's a couple backup SF's like most think - there will be more drafts and free agent periods before they'll be contending again anyway. I guess I'm saying they don't need to fill every single hole this year - no matter what, they're still rebuilding.

If the Kings stay put at 5 and take Cousins or Monroe like I expect, I'd put money on them taking either a combo guard or SG with a 3-point stroke in the early 2nd. There should be at least one nice player in that mold to slide to them there. That would fill their biggest void outside of C, which Dalembert & Cousins/Monroe would help fill obviously.

Interesting

Are there any team looking to get Dalembert? I mean with all the talk about getting Cousins he goes after Dalembert... is it to clear space as he can be bought out? Just a weird move as a kings fan what can I expect from him? On Hawes he is soft but if he can beef up he should be very much like BMiller

Doug Collins has always been

Doug Collins has always been effusive in his praise of Andres Nocioni, so it is not all that shocking that his team was able to dump one of their bad contracts for Nocioni. Hawes is a big body with some skills and is young. I'm a bit down on him. I would have liked to see him improve from year two to three and it didn't happen, but maybe a new surrounding will help him on that front.

For Sacramento, is stands to reason that Dalembert will be a better backup center than Hawes to either Cousins, Monroe, Favors, or Aldrich. He is a older, more accepting of his role, and won't feel hurt by having Westphal drop him from a starting spot to a bench role.

Wasn't expecting this... But

Wasn't expecting this... But I told you guys a few days ago a Noc trade will be very much less dramatic than a lot of people think.

My opinion... Hawes was definitely not in Sacramento's long-term plan... Nocioni clearly was not... Dalembert may play his way into being in the kings long term plan.

Worst case we dump a bunch of salary we don't want... Best case we dump a bunch of salary and sign a defensive-minded (hopefully backup) center for 3-5 years

I like it.

Now I just gotta change my username.....

Why dont the Kings Just Offer the Fifth for Rubio Now

Now that they got a rental Center and Cap relief next year for a replacement...Why not offer the T'Wolves their 5th pick for Rubio...Then The Wolves draft Cousins and trade him to the Pistons for the 7th and Rip,Taysuan or Villanueva...Then they get Monroe with 5th pick and Wesley With the 7th...maybe take on Prince for one year or Rip for the rest of his short career...C.Villanueva could be their poor mans Odom....

I'm thinking that now we are

I'm thinking that now we are definitely going to take either monroe or cousins. Really drafting cousins will be contingent on whether he is still available or not. Either way (although i'd kill for cousins rather than monroe) i think we wanted to have someone that can be a defensive presence so that whichever big we draft doesn't have to have all the pressure on them to be the main defensive player because its obvious that they will have a load of the offensive responsibilites as well. I think that we SHOULD draft cousins because if we were to draft monroe we'd be very thin up front but we'll see how it works out. The second workout scheduled for monroe is a smokescreen by petrie btw everyone and their mother thinks we'll take monroe for the simple fact that he "resembles c webb and vlade" which is completely inaccurate because he's neither one of those players and also everyone thinks we want the same type of team that was successful earlier in the 2000s but what people dont realize is that those teams didnt have a tyreke evans or even now a samuel dalembert. It works for me though, everyone last year thought we would take rubio and we didnt, so don't be surprised when/if we take cousins (hopefully)

I like how you think

I like how you think Scarecrow always thinking of trades. If i was Sacramento i would trade the 5th pick for Thad Young. Im not just saying that as a Sixer fan cuz if we didn't need another big or outside shooter i wouldn't even do the trade. Young will be better then any small forward in this draft. He's better then Johnson, better then Aminu, in fact Aminu some people say reminds them of Young but Young is super athletic with way more skill and they are only a year apart in age. Young still has huge upside more so then any other wing in this draft.

I don't know if this trade...

Really makes either team any better then what they were. It seems like kind of a wash on paper. As far as how it effects who Philly and Sacramento draft, I don't think it has that much impact. Philly is still going to take either Favors, or Turner, and the Kings are still likely going to pick between Monroe or Cousins (assuming Minny really does take Johnson as speculated). I think selecting Aminu over Monroe or Cousins would be a mistake by the Kings. I like Aminu, but I wouldn't draft him over 2 of the top 3 bigs in the draft.

This trade leaves me scratching my head wondering why it was made. How is either team any better?

before i get all crazy

before i get all crazy negatives from kings fans i realize that its not a realistic trade but Sammy can be a starting center in this league as long as he plays next to an offensive minded PF, and Landry can score. Wit Greene and Casspri im not sure on their ceiling but Greenes is definitley higher. I really like Babbitt or George in Sac's Offense. But the five pick may be too high.

76ers

there is a lot of talk on this trade pertaining to the kings. i still believe that they will draft either cousins or monroe (whoever is available) as well. delambert is more of a backup center that can bring some energy with his shotblocking and rebounding.

as for the 76ers, could this mean that they are going after either favors or cousins? adding nocioni and drafting turner creates a logjam at the wing spot. maybe the 76ers shock the world and go with cousins.

The sixers got another shooter and tough SOB in Noci

also Hawes is still young and can be that Offensive Center like Brad Miller was...he's a legit 6'11 and he and Speights do make it worth given up the cap next year...Mocioni at worst will be brought out to go back to Spain or a Contender like the Spurs...Don't like the fact we added more payroll past 2011 but heh...What else can we get...I am conviced we Want Turner and are willing to trade Thad and L.Williams for the Shooters and Defensive presence we need now that Sam is Gone....We still look good to me
Holiday,Turner,Iggy,Speights,Hawes and Thad as the core...Noci and Brand on the bench and Lou Will as the instant offense guy...Just get rid of Kapono and Green now...Thats 10 million that can go today please...L.Will or Thad and 10 Million in Expiring for a player at the Deadline I Hope....What about Thad and Lou for the Kings 5th...They get The Pg and Sf they need to run with Reke.....

Nocioni

Hey everyone, just wanted to ask if Nocioni's contrect will still count in the sixers sallary cap? ( I'm from europe, so I don't really know the NBA rules about this ) I've read an interview with Nocioni, and he says he's coming back to europe, so can the sixers buy his contract out or something?

Yeah, he's already said he's leaving the NBA, that it's never been his dream to play there, and that he only felt happy when playing for the Bulls, so he's definitely leaving. So if his contract doesn't count, there's no need to trade him, he's out lol

i really hope thats a true statement

we don't need another Sf/Pf...we have Thad Young and even Iggy for that matter...If Steffanski knew all along he was getting a cap dump with Nocioni on the way out ...he's a genius...Almost like getting Hawes for nothing and dumping Sammy for free...Please tell me he is Leaving...that's good for Argentina Too
