Lotto StudParticipantThere’s no doubt about it, that I really do believe he’s a good player. But, I am eager to see how well his game will transfer over with bigger, faster, stronger guys who will contain his style of play. Evan Turner and D’Angelo Russell are night & day as Ohio State players on the big stage, and it had taken Turner a little longer to get it going after his 2-stop departure from Philadelphia. It will be interesting to see if Russell lands in the same exact situation, despite having a bigger pool of talent to play-along on the break with Wroten and company.

For_Never_EverParticipantThe big difference between the two is Russell is a deadly shooter.

r377ParticipantHis shots and passes are deadly accurate, I am surprised no one has posted a thread about him going no1 in the draft…

For_Never_EverParticipantIf Emmanuel Mudiay went to college he could have made a case for himself, but if I have the pick I’m taking Russell over him. I’m pretty high on Mudiay too.

Lotto StudParticipantNo one can take that dagger away from him.

For_Never_EverParticipantI consider him a below average athlete by NBA standards, but he will translate. Because to me he is a legit PG, and his size will negate his deficiencies as a defender. He won’t have the problem that Turner had with defenders being able to play away from him, lay off him daring him to shoot.

For_Never_EverParticipanthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0kYmODtN2A Perhaps it’s just me, but doesn’t he have the same shooting form/stroke as Steph Curry except thats it’s from the left ?

Lotto StudParticipantI’m anxious to see him sink a game-winner if they advance deep into the mix.

OhCanada-ParticipantThey play Arizona on Sunday and they are a tough team. I think the only teams better than Arizona would be Kentucky and Wisconsin.
I would love to watch Ohio St. advance to see what Russell is made of.

johnecoParticipantWhen was the last time a freshman guard at a major college dominated as much as he has?
Because I really can’t think of anyone for a while back.
Steph Curry was similar, but threw significantly fewer assists (plus was at a smaller school).
James Harden also.I think his style will translate to the pros, because of that handle. He keeps defenders off balance and can shoot while moving.
My team has a good chance of picking first (Knicks), and I’d love to pick him, but I’d probably take Towns over him because I think he has similar upside with a smaller risk. But Russell would def be more fun to watch.

johnecoParticipantBut 3 ppg less, and 10% worse shooting from 3 btw.
I challenge you to find someone who tops Russell in ppg, rpg, apg.OTOH, Wall was also a super athlete, his stats were somewhat diminished playing for a powerhouse, and he went #1 overall. My main point is that Russell is in elite company.

Lotto StudParticipant- Kenny Anderson 23.0 – 5.6 – 7.0
- Stephon Marbury 18.9 – 3.1 – 4.5
- Jerryd Bayless 19.7 – 2.7 – 4.0
D’Angelo Russell is close but not quite the crown holder, yet. 19.6 – 5.6 – 5.0
