negguaryParticipantofficially entering the draft! He says he knows what he’s capable of and sky’s the limit. How good do people think he really can be?

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantI think he can be the 3rd best option on a championship team, but not a superstar. For all his strengths, he’s somewhat inconsistent and doesn’t have the elite athletic tools to overcome that fact. He will be effective just not dominant. Now let me repeat: he will star on a bad/average team, but not a championship team.

treytalkssports.comParticipantGoran Dragic 18-20 ppg, 5-7 apg, with solid defense.
Shooting close to the 90-40-50 mark, probably around 85-40-45 at his best.
He will be able to play both guard positions right away, but will probably be a defensive liability for the first few years with his thin frame.

OhCanada-ParticipantI don’t like the Goran Dragic comparison very much. In terms of productivity its spot on. In terms of playing style its way off.
Russell is much more creative than Dragic which is a large part of his intrigue. Dragic is very mechanical although not to a fault. He operates and works his coaches system soundly to help his team and ultimately impact the game.
In other words Russell seems like he can also be the type of player you can just give the ball to all game to freestyle quarterback the offence and run his own plays.
While Dragic seems like the type of guy to implement systematic play and make the right play consistently.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantNow I don’t like making player comparisons but I think he’d play a similar role to Manu Ginoboli in the NBA, especially if he gets drafted by Philadelphia..
I think they would use him as a primary ball handler/Slasher/outside threat around Embiid and Noel in the paint…
The 76ers would need a PG in the mold of Tony Parker after drafting Russell to play SG, Covington reminds me of Sean Elliot and we already have a potential Twin Towers in the Joel/Noel front court, Saric could be our Diaw and I’m hoping he comes over next season…
Maybe we can trade some future picks for a young scoring PG

EndlessknightParticipantAgreed. I’m still holding out hope that the Sixers end up with the Lakers pick and come away with both Russell and Hezonja.

alex23ParticipantBut I really think his ceiling is a Brandon Roy with some shades of Steph Curry (shooting, quick release, passing creativity). I think down the line he could be an elite 2nd option for a championship team and an all star.

rileymcshea3ParticipantI’m been a Russell fan since the season started and I still stand by the claim that I think he will be the best player out of the draft, with that being said I think the big men (Okafor and Towns) should both be drafted before him.
