Cuts for Team USA

Who do you guys think will be cut first for Team Usa

I think

Tyreke Evans - didn't practise or play in scrimmage
Gerald Wallace- Didnt produce anything during the scrimmage was a non factor plus many more athletic wings Igudola, Granger, Durant etc
Gordon/ Mayo- one of these two will be cut from the roster
Kevin Love- Didnt impress me with his play at all might make due to lack of big men
Westbrook- I belive he could be cut due to sheer amount of young point guards

Replace Kevin Love with Jeff

Replace Kevin Love with Jeff Green. Kevin Love in my mind will make the team because his game is fit for international play. He can shoot the 3 ball and has great passing abilities.

Granger made it. So those cuts do not at all look unreasonable. I would take Kevin for the team, and I think JaVale McGee will be cut. I think they are taking a lot of guys who can play numerous positions, and have length to maybe guard the 4, but Kevin seems to fit the international game incredibly well. His size (I know he is as tall as say Jeff Green, and some other guys are taller, but I am talking SIZE. Kevin is a big guy, wide and strong) would be good for them, he is one of the best passers I have ever seen (Sorry Darko, but Kahn should pay attention to this guy) and he would be the best rebounder on the team bar none. So, yeah, that is my two cents for Kevin Love's inclusion, it just should happen. A lot of close calls, and I am thinking when the cuts come tomorrow, there will be outrage. The players who I think might get cut are as follows (and this is knowing Tyreke Evans will be cut, because their seems to be no assuming at this point):

1. JaVale McGee (Very talented, but Brook Lopez had mono and Tyson Chandler has experience and size over him, again, the other kind)
2. Gerald Wallace (He is a good defender, great athlete, but every time he plays amongst the more talented players, it seems like they are just better than he is as a basketball player)
3. Eric Gordon (I know people will crucify for this, especially after how well he played in the scrimmage, but he is kind of an undersized 2. I think OJ Mayo has more skill than Gordon, and I used to think otherwise, but, he does.)
4. Russell Westbrook (I would not cut him, but I think it is bound to happen. I honestly think he should make the team, but they are at their quota of guys who can run point, and he is just the unfortunate bottom of the totem pole. I think Derrick Rose is the best, honestly, he is, just on a straight up pound for pound level. I would take Russell 2 for all he can provide defensively, his relentless attack on things such as the offensive glass, but I think seniority will rule and Rondo and Billups have rings. If I had to cut one, it would be Rondo judging from all of the above, even with Chauncey having a poor scrimmage. Hell knows I will be crucified for cutting "the best PG in the world", but, their are better players than him. Did he play any of those guys in the play-offs? Nope, and when he did in 2009, Derrick Rose to me was the better of the two. Say what you want about Rondo getting close to a triple double average, Derrick hung with him and to me was the better of the two. On accomplishment, you go with Rondo, but again, Derrick Rose is the better player in my opinion. Russell Westbrook vs. Rondo is close, and I would take Chauncey Billups for his ability to shoot the 3 and his invaluable experience for a young team. We want Gold, not Bronze like 2006, but I honestly think this position will be solid no matter who they take, I just still am not as sold on Rondo being the dominant force everyone else makes him out to be. He is great, he can wreak havoc, but I think their are better PG's out there, and these might be 3 of them).

I agree that Rose probably is a better pg now than Rondo, but Rondo outplayed him in 2009 when they matched up head to head. Rose committed many turnovers that series, while Rondo once had an 83 minute stretch of playing time without a single turnover. Rondo played more in control and was more productive. Rose has improved a lot since then, and I agree that I would take him over Rondo for international play, but Rondo wasn't outplayed by Rose in the 2009 playoffs.

Rose v. Rondo

Well, I do think I went too far in saying he totally outplayed him, but it was close. I mean, both of them had shooters, but Boston was coming off an NBA championship, and had a much better team even without KG. Ray Allen dropped 51 in Game 6, but the moment I remember is Rose blocking Rondo, that won the Bulls the game. You had a rookie taking on the NBA champs, and he rocked it. The Bulls after all, were 33-49 the year before, and had even less of an inside game than the Celts without KG. Rose is just a different level of athlete than Rajon, and I think he will continue to prove that. I think a lot of how well a player does is based on his situation, and that has to come up in ranking players on an NBA level, but I think people know that if the Celtics had D-Rose, it would be OVER. That kid is a freak, Rondo is sick and all, but Derrick Rose is just a beast.
