Current Fun Factor in NBA 2K?
NBA 2K11 is the first time in the modern decade that Michael Jordan graced the cover of an NBA video game, and the game itself really revolutionized the way that we think of basketball games today. Throughout the next couple of years, 2K12 and 2K13 have taken many of the same concepts and have either improved on them, or cut them from the game.
My question to you guys is, are you still having fun with the game? Because honestly, I'm not. Sure, My Player is as good as it has ever been, but whenever I purchase a basketball game, I am really interested in buying it for more than one game mode, and right now that isn't really the case.
I hope that for 2K14, 2K Sports really thinks about ways to expand the entire game as a whole, and not just the main attraction for the game. I'm talking about an improved Association Mode, maybe some new game modes?
I am a customization type of guy. That's the thing that I like to do, is create and customize different aspects within sports video games. I am very curious as to using a face generator similar to EA Sports, because I think that that could add a huge spec of realism to your My Player, and potentially even draft classes. You could upload pictures of potential NBA draft picks to the 2K Sports website, and create realistic looking prospects for yourself, and other people if you choose to share your draft class on the 2K Share.
Another aspect of creation that could potentially attract my interest even more is a creation tool that would allow you to create and design your own stadium for created teams. See, I think adding pictures via 2K sports website could be a potentially great idea, and would be the closest thing that we could get to a game that features both the NBA and college basketball all in one unique blend.
You could import pictures of logos that you could incorporate onto a created team, as well as floor designs for the stadiums that you can design.
These are just small ideas, but they could potentially make or break a NBA 2K14 video game for me. I love 2K basketball a lot, but they have really lacked to add anything to the game over the past few years, other than cool features in the My Player/My Career mode.
What do you guys think about 2K right now? Are you bored with it? Do you think my ideas are good or bad and why? What other ideas do you have? Let me know...
Try out MyTeam mode, I really wasn't even looking at it at all but I had tried all the other modes, and gave it a try and it turned out to be pretty fun hopefully you have a lot of VC saved up though makes things less complicated.
I really like to see crew mode back in the game. I wouldn't mind more being add into the association mode and them getting rid of that stupid timer they have. So when its just you and your friend you can bang out 5 seasons in one night instead of having to wait a week. Hopefully this year they focus more on gameplay and stop with bench players missing layups and try to bring more a realistic game.
MyPlayer mode, or is it called MyCareer? The one where you create a player and continue to improve him for years. It takes years to finally get all of the signature skills and the overall you actually want and if you play at a tough difficulty, it's fun to try and take your team to the playoffs.
I'm actually in my 11th season already.
Other than that, Association Mode is always interesting because with 30 NBA teams, there are pretty much 30 different story lines and 30 different ways you can make your team better. Do you use the Celtics and try for one last title run or go with the Bobcats and turn them from a laughingstock to a championship contender.
Dude be like me and just glitch your points, ain't nobody got time for that!
The only thing I am ever interested in doing in 2k is playing online. I split time in online mode and My Team. Only thing I try to do is get high win streaks in online and see how far I can get with a basic team in My Team. Recently went on a 19 game streak with Raptors when Jose Calderon and Ed Davis were on the team.
Bring back 2k college hoops <3
I've been asking Santa to bring me this for so many years now....
Man I've been looking online to buy the last 2k college hoops game and finally found one. It used to be so tight back in the day
Is it me, or are the draft process and the post-game interviews really AWFUL in 2K13 (and 2K12) My Player mode.
Before the draft, you meet with 3 teams. The guy who is asking you questions (and waits like 20 seconds between each question) is a kind of robot, and the room is laughably ugly. The first time, I thought "what's this rubbish?".
The post-game interviews are incredibly annoying. Man, are "my" answers silly... And the journalists are all alike, it's ridiculous. All these clones swaying slowly in the wind (or so it seems) are really weird.
Honestly I don't even play many of the new game modes, I still only play association with the option of drafting the NBA players(usually Serpentine over fixed). Once it gets to the drafting process I skip through it and let the computer automatically do it for me. Then I just basically take what I get and try to make something out of it, sometimes the teams suck and it's hard to even be a contender(on Superstar difficulty) and sometimes you got a stacked team and you can dominate.
It's just random and I like not knowing what players I'm going to have, keeps me from being bias and just getting a fresh team. Also to get the team I use a random number generator(random.org) set at 1-30. This is how I pick which team I'm going to be, for example if I random draw 17, that means once I get to the draft whoever is 17th is who I'm going to be.
It's just fun and often challenging as sometimes you don't get the most ideal mix of players. I tried MyPlayer for a bit and I just didn't care for it much, and as far as the MyTeam(is that the player vs. player one?) that didn't work out too well because I don't have the best connection and trying to play a basketball game on a slow connection is about as bad as trying to play an FPS...isn't going to work.
I am not an online gamer. I play video games to isolate myself, anywho. They need to add an expansion draft. Create a team, draft players from other teams would be available and put he team the league and you have to build from the ground up. I usually make a team and put it in the league takiing bad players and free agents. But if the added an expansion draft that'd be great.
Man I wish college bball games.
I hit up VirginGaming & play for money on 2K. At least gives you something to play for haha.
I'm hoping for even more Classic teams. Playing with Larry Johnson in his prime was amazing. Rick Barry on the '75 Warriors is on my most wanted list as well as the mid 70's Celtics.
Something else that would be cool is "What If" teams, like if Duncan had gone to the Magic or T-Mac had stayed in Toronto
They need to add a "greatest moments" like college football did a couple of years ago; such as trying to score 11 points in 31 seconds like TMac, or dropping 100 with wilt.
I loved 2k11! Bought 2k12 and 13 and barely played them. They just dont compare to 2k11 in my opinion. ha I am mostly playing college hoops 2k8 to get my basketball fill.
Haha same! Career legacy mode? Yeah you are ;)
Personally, I think this game is fun. I mostly play online and the MyPlayer mode. I use mediocre teams when I play online like the Rockets, Raptors or Wizards. It's pretty challenging when you try to beat teams like the Heat, Knicks and Thunder with them. I also like the fact that you can control your player's action more with 2k13. Online blacktop and team up are also fun, unless you play with a ball hog. You can really focus on playing one position and play with a team oriented mindset. Plus, they fixed some glitches in 2k13 like the ball going through a player's body that always happen in 2k11 and 2k12.
I've been playing since October, but I just got Xbox Live on Friday, and it is ridiculously fun to play. I'm part of an Online Association with my friends from school, I have Love, Bosh, Ilyasova, Lin, and Kevin Martin, started out 0-5, had to hear it from one guy when I lost on a Brandon Jennings buzzer beater. But now I'm 5-5 so its all good. It's only a 29 game season so I guess this Friday and Saturday night(when we usually play) will be huge. However I still don't like their updated ratings.
