highflyer0ParticipantThis would probably get me fired, but, as of today, if I were a GM, I’d pick Bamba over Ayton. When I watch Bamba, on the court and in interviews, I see a guy who is going to maximize every ounce of his talent and be a leader, defensive anchor, and fan favorite, in the mold of Mutombo. Ayton reminds me of Andrew Wiggins. It’s rare, borderline unheard of, for the best player from a draft class to have the "red flags" that Ayton has (motor, effort, etc). Now, it is very possible that Ayton’s superior talent will allow him to be a better player than Bamba, regardless of how hard Mo works. But I can easily see Ayton as a very good to great offensive player with lame defense and inconsisent effort on a middling team, while Bamba becomes a "super" Tyson Chandler on an elite team.
Or Ayton could be David Robinson and Bamba could be Hasheem Thabeet.
Anyone else have some unpopular draft opinions that would probably get them fired?

The GoatParticipantI agree. I’ve actually been very firm on this for months. I’m too lazy to go post links to past posts, but you can check. They way the league is going I’d rather be sure about a defensive anchor than take an offensively talented player with questionable motor. There are plenty of them out there already. I think Bamba would be great for Boston in particular.
My possibly unpopular pick is Rui Hachimura to be a surefire lotto pick, but I im not sure hes coming out so i don’t think it’ll be til next year.

Robb_CParticipantBamba has DeAndre Jordan potential.. Ill never forget watching Jordan in the Roundball Classic practices before he went to College, in those practices he looked like everything hes does now.. I think the College game can really hold back certain players especially back then.
Bamba is pretty fluid but still very raw.. Ive watched footage of him vs Ayton, Ill 100% say Ayton is going through the motions and is not really challenged right now on the college level.. He looks bored, I actually think the college game is too slow for him which is a result of his lack of effort.
I like where Aran has both slotted.. Bamba still needs TLC, I dont see a very confident player in him..
Ayton should be in the league right now.

Robb_CParticipantClint Capela also comes to mind for Bamba..

HitsterParticipantRui Hachimura is listed as top 5 for next year, so if he did declare this year, I’d figure he’d have a good chance at going top 10.
Lets say you are a GM and have 2nd pick, top pick takes Bagley and you need a big so Ayton is logical pick but you also like Bamba who you are fairly certain will go 5th/6th. Do you look to trade down and see what return you could get for 2nd pick.

EspressoParticipantI think Ayton gets the nod over Bamba because i feel like hes a more sure thing. Ayton resembles Kat while Bamba is in that Gobert category.
However, i have had Bamba ranked over Bagley all season, which i think would get you the "crazy the GM" label as well
I had a top 4 a while back… Its remained intact:
Ayton
Porter
Trae
Bamba

EspressoParticipantIll tell you what, something told me to compare Bamba stats to Drummond as a rookie, and as i had guessed, Bamba averages more pts, rbs, and blks per 40 mins.
I think scouts arent talking about him so much because he has very little offense and his frame doesnt let him dominate inside in the way you could see Drummond do with the Huskies. However, if this guy puts weight he is going to be scary af! The reason why i think hell put on weight is because his body reminds me of a younger Antetokoumpo, big shoulder and still not developed.
