r377ParticipantI was just thinking about the Clippers and how they traded to get CP3.
If they had not got Chris Paul, the Clippers likely starting lineup would be:
Bledsoe, Eric Gordon, Aminu, Griffin, Jordan.
That starting lineup looks pretty good, I was actually trying to work out if that lineup would be better than the current Clippers team.
Thoughts ?

anthony_DavIS23ParticipantYou can add kyrie to that list, can’t you?

FearTheStacheParticipantThe clippers pick that landed Kyrie was in the previous Baron Davis/Mo Williams trade, not the CP3 trade. The only other person you could add to this would be Austin Rivers, who was drafted by the hornets, by way of the traded clippers pick, which was previously the timberwolves’.

Jester87ParticipantA very disfunctional team, probably not that terrible on D (though those two bigs are kinda awful on rotations and pick and roll defense and they take many plays off), but how do they space the floor on offense? Aminu has no offensive skills whatsoever, Jordan, well, we all know, Griffin is ok, but he’s mostly a pick and roll player without a reliable mid-range jumper who would find the lanes always clogged with Jordan unable to step further than 3 ft away from the basket and Aminu too playing close to the rim, so he would be forced to take many contested shots, floaters or to pop outside and shoot many long 2s than optimal. Also Bledsoe is not much a threat from the distance so Gordon would be the only decent shooter (and he also likes to the get to the rim, but he would have a hard time doing that). They are very athletic so they could kinda make up for their limitations by playing a run on everything basketball, but I don’t think it would be enough. Also, let’s talk about the bench? What decent players would have come to the Clippers without CP3 making them more appealing for free agents?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThat team will be Fun to watch..BUT Nobody will consider them a serious a championship caliber team…CP3 has that winning mindset combined with a high IQ…..His presence on the Clippers seem to have helped Blake’s game alot..People talk about Blake being just a dunker, thats BS…Since CP3 been with the team,it seems Blake’s game has expanded and he’s playing smarter……

TyroberParticipantThat team would probably be a playoff team, but Chris Paul makes them contenders.

Moon RiverParticipantStill pissed that Stern reversed the trade. CP3 should be a Laker!

Darth DivacParticipantMan, let it go. The Lakers have robbed enough teams already.

Darth DivacParticipantI mean, seriously, look at some of their trades over their history. They got Dwight Howard for the ghost of Andrew Bynum, they picked up Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown(!), they got Wilt Chamberlain for a box of scraps and did the same for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar a few years later, along with some other ones I don’t care to mention. That coupled their history of controversial playoff wins, and their 16 ships, and you can pretty much conclude that the Lakers have had MUCH more than their fair share of success.

Chilbert arenasParticipantClippers should have drafted Paul George over Aminu, never made that Baron Davis/Mo Williams deal, and they could have been Kyrie, Gordon, George, Blake and Deandre. Big if but it could be possible.

ksmith9ParticipantIf we are talking about ifs, then Memphis should not have traded Love for Mayo, and drafted Harden over thabeet: Conley, Harden, Love, Randolph, Gasol + Miller, T Allen, Prince.
getting back to the topic though, the CP3 roster is so much better than the team of Bledsoe, Gordon, Aminu, Griffin, Jordan. CP3 is essentially another coach playing alongside the players. Not to mention Gordon’s injury history will probably come into play soon.

HitsterParticipantNY could have theoretically had Aldridge, Noah and Paul George but for trading picks, Brooklyn could have had Favours, Lillard and maybe Kanter.
One interesting one would have been if the Lakers had brought over Marc Gasol and used him.
Clippers with CP3 are definitely better than before the trade.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantIf they had drafted even remotely competently, A Wolves potential starting lineup with: Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry, Paul George, Kevin Love, and Enes Kanter/Jonas Valanciunas/Pek could have happened…sigh
