2017 NBA Coach of the Year? Could make a case for Stevens, Brooks, Popovich, Snyder and DAntoni.

Popovich is in Lebron territory for the MVP, everyone knows he could and probably should win it but won’t, Stevens is yet again overachieving with this roster it would seem, people expected Utah to make the playoffs but they’ve really exceeded their their projections, Same as Washington, knew Brooks was a good coach and has them on fire since a horrible start and then there’s DAntoni who I think people still have a wait and see approach with him and  this team, they look fun to watch and are racking up the Ws but he’s done this in the regular season before.

My pick right now is Snyder. Looking to be settling in to a four seed in the West. Has them playing the best D in the league, thanks a lot to Gobert but they’re at least a year ahead of where they should be.

No bad answer imo among those 5 guys but who you got?

It’s a little unprecedented by Spoelstra should definitely get consideration with how they’ve been the past couple of months. Not saying he’s my pick, but the fact that he got that team in the playoffs after the way they started is nothing short of amazing. We’ll see how the rest of the season shakes out for them but as of now he’s done a great job

I’d probably give it to D’Antoni, because how many of us thought that the Rockets would be this good? I agree that Pop is in the Lebron category of this award, but I don’t think he cares as much

I agree. The job Spoelstra has done with this team is miraculous. Half of this team would not have a place in the league if it weren’t for the Heat and he’s got them shaping up for the Playoffs. Yopu just can’t ask for more than that from a coach.

D’Antoni isn’t a bad option, nor is Stevens. I kind of agree with subzero on the Spo angle too. Some realy nice coaching jobs by some of these guys.

has really impressed me. I watched Phila last 2 games against the Lakers & Warriors & they really operate like a team. Lots of ball movement, everyone knows their assignement & buys in.

That 10 win Phila team last year I believe was the worst in NBA history. I have never seen a team that bad.

Coming into this season w/ Embiid & Simmons who are both Monsters & as a Laker fan I HATE admitting that but it’s true. But I thought they would struggle to win 25 games WITH a healthy Simmons & Embiid

And basically w/ the exact same team as last year Brown has won 25 games w/ only adding Dario Saric. I’m really impressed w/ Saric, hair-lip can ball but he’s not good enough to improve a team that bad by 15-20 games. Brown is really building something nice & fun to watch & next year they are going to be good.

I like the other picks too spoelstra, d’antoni & Dallas coach rick carlisle. But for Brown to stick it out in that nightmare, now in his 4th year & to keep grinding & actually establish an identity is impressive to me.

It has to be D’Antoni. He has changed the whole culture in Houston. This team was a mess last season with arguably a more talented roster. When he said before the season that harden would lead the league in assists everybody laughed. No one is laughing now. They basically have harden and a bunch of role players. There was serious doubt they would make the playoffs prior to the season and they are sitting comfortably in the 3 seed now. I never thought I’d say this again, but D’Antoni has done an absolute masterful job.

Spolestra is my runner up because Miami had every reason to just pull the plug and tank this season. What they have done the second half of the season pretty much defies even the most optimistic expectations.

The people talking about Spolstra need to calm it down, the Heat don’t even have a .500 record. They are playing up to expectations right now. They have a legit center, legit pg, and depth at the SG spot. Not a great team by any means, but neither is their record.

I think it comes down to three coaches. Stevens, Pringles, and Pop. I think Stevens will win it, just because the Celtics are doing the most with the least out of all the contending teams, and he is getting players to play at a high level, for a sustained period of time.

Honestly though, it should go to Pop, and that small 18 hour lead they had over the Warriors in the standing last week sealed it in my mind. Celtics are a cute #2 seed, Rockets are a scary #3, but San Antonio can actually finish as the #1, which is unbelievable considering Duncan just retired. Kawhii is playing at a higher level than anyone thought he would ever be able to reach, and the Spurs just keep winning games with contributions from guys like Bertans, Simmons, and Dedmon.

While the Spurs do have a ton of talent, it’s still clear how well coached these guys are. Everyone is ready to come in and contribute.

Not the Coach of the year but Rick Carlisle has done a good job with the players he has.

He always gets more from his point guards than expected.

Mike D’Antoni would be my choice as the Rockets look like being a top 3 team out West and have made a huge improvement over last year plus they are fun to watch.

I’ll give Philly a shout out for Brett Brown how they have improved by over 100% to 25 wins I don’t know plus they have lost a fair few close games so could be nearer 30 wins in truth. Embeast has only played 30 games, Simmons not at all, Noel has gone, Okafor is Okafor. Apart from likely ROY Saric it is a real unhearalded squad of players. If these guys can show the same commitment next year with Embeast, Simmons and whoever they draft then Philly have a good future.

If its not Popavich its Dantoni. Thats really the only two possible candidates. Houston added Gordon and Anderson to a 500 team and now are a top 5 regular season team because of Dantonis coaching and theory. But I mean how can you not give it to Pop. Tim Duncan retired aandthey are still competing for the 1 seed. 60 win team again. This guy needs 2 COY awards per year. Give him some trophies.
