I don’t know how many of you feel when it comes to the draft every year where there happens to be a consensus choice for the #1 overall, but I for one actually prefer a draft where we don’t know who the pick will be. The only downside to not having a consensus #1 draft is that it will hurt mock projections if you get the pick wrong. Although people get bummed out about not knowing, it puts more suspense on a draft such as this years class with Noel, McLemore, and Porter who all are a toss up for the selection with the option to trade the pick. Knowing who the #1 pick is every year is no different than knowing that the NFL will project a QB #1 every year in the draft which gets old and boring. Another thing is when there is likely to be a draft with no clear cut choice, we will possibly see more trades which is something I like to look forward to.

Do you prefer a draft where there is a clear cut #1 pick or not and why?

I would much rather have an obvious number 1 pick. Yes, draft night itself isn’t as exciting, but that means that a future all-star is going to a place where he will have an immediate impact and that we get to see this consensus #1 player right away as a starter.

Yeah in years when everyone knew who would go 1st…Teams would start selling tickets, that player’s jerseys and marketing the player, the day after they win the lottery…..Having that franchise cornerstone brought excitement and hope for the future to fans in that city…It sometimes bring in people wo dont follow the sport, becuz they want to see what the excitement is all about…

I love drafts with no consensus #1 because it’s so unpredictable and fun. Last years draft was predictable and boring to be honest, except for the cavs who actually made it interesting.

I wonder which produces better ratings, but I’d have to go with a draft with a consensus #1.

What I really like is when there’s a clear top 2 and either of them could go first. That gives kind of a fun 50/50 aspect to it. Having a consensus #1 pick is kind of boring as far as trying to make a mock goes. However a year like this where about 5 people could go first I don’t like that at all, it’s way too much of a guessing game. Mock drafts are going to be brutal this year.

Well it depends of the reason there is no clear number 1…this year there isnt any because there are a no franchise players at the top.If I was a cavs fan,id much rather a draft with a clear cut number 1,instead of wondering which number 3 or 4 option to draft…
As a general fan,i can see the appeal of no number 1s,if there are couple possible franchise players at the top.
