Here is the story to what I am talking about:
Source Calls Griffin, Bledsoe To Celtics For Garnett, Pierce, Rivers Rumor 'Absurd'
May 06, 2013 2:26 PM EDT
Stephen A. Smith of ESPN reports that the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics could execute a trade of Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.
"Absurd," said one source from the Celtics to Greg Dickerson of Comcast in response to the story.
Smith also reports that Doc Rivers could go with Pierce and Garnett to the Clippers.
"It is already being talked about in NBA circles," said Smith.
Smith wouldn't answer definitively if it is actually being discussed between the two teams.

Here are my questions...
#1 - Why would the Clippers do this trade?!
#2 - Since when are you able to trade coaches?!
Am I the only one thinking "wtf did I just read?"
Even after all these trade talks Pierce playing for another team just doesn't seem right in my head. But his contract is huge for a rebuilding team so anything might happen. Ainge is in a tough situation right now. If they have a bad season next year he's gonna be bashed. If they get rid of Pierce and his contract people are gonna think he's a huge A$$hole for doing this to one of the greatest Celtics.
I'd understand DJ, but Blake? Nahh. But I actually really do want Doc Rivers to coach the Clippers.
Why didn't the Clippers guard Z Bo with D Jordan and Gasol with Blake Griffin. Z Bo hates length and prefers the low block and Gasol prefers the elbows and high block. This absurd rumor doesn't exist if the Clips won.
Heard this on First take this morning and wanted to whip Stephen A Smith Azz....worst thing he has ever said. He should be fined for these comments.
I doubt it, but it's the NBA anything can happen....if David Stern wants it to lol
Straight from Wikipedia.
ESPN SportsCenter reported that the Heat allowed Stan Van Gundy to coach the Magic in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2007 and the right to swap first-round picks in 2008 or another 2008 second-round draft pick and cash.
We do have precedence of a "trade" for a coach.
As for the actual trade, that's ludicrous. Why would the Clppers give up so much? I would need at lest Jeff Green along with Pierce and Garnett... and the Clips can throw in Barnes.
That situation was much different though. Stan resigned from his position, and the Heat decided to keep him on contract. Then once the Magic came calling for him, the Heat wouldn't let SVG go without compensation so the "trade" of sorts happened. I could be wrong, but I haven't heard anything about Doc wanting to leave the Celtics or him being let go. Totally agree about the trade too.
I just happened to be watching First Take when he said this and I thought he meant DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce... But this fool really meant Blake Griffin.
Other confusing question:
Why are you guys watching FirstTake?!
i mean ive seen some BAD trades and this would be a BAD trade for the clippers considering KG and pierce have probably about 2 years each to keep playing. I just think that if you throw griffin and bledsoe then you should get a really good player or 2 guys that will be around for a while. The thing that i dont even understand tho is the coaching. they are gonna trade coaches too? lol i must have read it wrong cause you cant even do that in a video game
Hmmm an even better question would be if this trade happens, wouldn't this make CP3 want to leave town(LA) even faster?
KG and Pierce are old, they will retire soon, that means that will leave CP3 as the only guy on the roster that is a big time player.....which means soon as KG and Pierce leave CP3 will be stuck in LA with a rebuilding franchise and CP3 aint getting any younger, so I doubt he wants to wait around for another 4-5 years before he wins a ring.
Trading a draft pick for coaching staff would be unique, you can just see the scenario where Kevin Pritchard engineers the Pacers a lottery pick for Brian Shaw.
Seriously I could never see the Clippers moving Blake Griffin for a long time.
They would at least need Scalabrine to un-retire, throw on a jersey, get traded to the Clippers, get incredibly loud cheers of "SCAL-A-BRINE", brick a ton of threes, get beat off the dribble, and then retire again. Oh and then he would try to retaliate to all of the "he's the worst player in the league" comments by playing fans one on one. That would sweeten the pot.
I get that supposedly CP3 and Blake aren't getting along and don't want to play together, but even so, I'd have to think that trading Griffin for KG and Pierce would not make CP3 want to stay. If he signed long-term, he'd basically be praying the Clippers spend money the following year when KG and Pierce retire. It would be pretty moronic IMO.
KG has one, so that rumor isn't gonna come true. He's gonna retire a Celtic because that's what he wants. Any trade involving him goes through him ultimately and I'd think he is too loyal to Boston to retire a Clipper.
I think he's already gone on the record saying that the only way he'd leave Boston is if Pierce leaves as well, which he'd be doing in that trade. I think he's more loyal to Pierce/Doc than he is Boston.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but coaches have been traded in the NFL at least.
This rumor was around at the trade deadline and I started a thread about it then. I am smart enough to know not to trade a 24 year old 3 time all-star (Blake Griffin) for two players that were once superstars but are now just very good NBA players. They won't play 5 years between the two of them so while it would possibly help their chances in the short term it would really hurt them in the long run. Blake Griffin put the Clippers franchise back on the map after missing his first season with knee surgery. There aren't many 20 and 10 guys out there...especially under 25.
The deal I proposed would have sent Butler, Jordan, Bledsoe and Odom (whose contract is expiring now) for Pierce and Garnett. I think it might be half a season late to make this deal now. Especially now that Westbrook is out for the Thunder the west is somewhat wide open. The Thunder are still probably the favorites but I would have to imagine if the Clips made a deal similar to this at the deadline they would still be playing.
Here is the link to the old thread I started. The initial link to the trade machine only was the wrong one but I added the correct link in a later post once I realized I messed up.
Yeah, DJ, Bledsoe, and Butler for KG and Pierce makes a lot of sense actually. But there is absolutely no way in hell Griffin would be part of that deal. It is stupid for Stephen A Drama to even consider this a possibility. But that's that show for you, stupid rumors to create attention. Why would the Clippers trade there franchise 24 year old for 2 guys who may have nothing left in the tank? Its absurd.
