Concerning Tomic, Boozer, the ninth pick...and other Jazz talk...

I'm convinced after seeing some highlights of Ante Tomic, that he is the real deal. The comparisons to Pau Gasol might be unfair, but his game resembles that of Gasol. He has a nice offensive game, as well as the height, and skill set to be an above average NBA player. Worst cast scenario with Tomic in my mind: Pau's brother in Memphis (who is a pretty good player in his own right).

Then you throw in the possiblility of drafting a big like Aldrich, Whiteside, or Udoh with the ninth pick (I think Monroe will already be gone) and the Jazz frontline will be pretty formidable in the next couple years.

I'm not sure how I feel about Boozer staying or going. To me Boozer is a guy, if he's the third best player on your team, then your a legit championship contender. If he's your first or second best player, then your a good team, but probably not a championship level team. Maybe the Jazz can work out a sign and trade where at least they get a piece back in return for Boozer if he leaves. As long as we have a quality backup for Millsap, I think we will be alright.

Hopefully, Okur will eventually be able to return at full strength. At any rate, with all these options available, and Kirilenko's contract expiring after this coming season, I see a bunch of change ahead with Utah's frontline positions.

I have big hopes for Tomic as

I have big hopes for Tomic as well. He played guard when he was younger before a huge growth spurt, so his ball handling for a player of his size is ridiculous.

I think there are several good options for the Jazz to pick up a big man and that's the direction they should go. I think they have focused too much on drafting a shooting guard at times the last several years and that has held them back. When Okur went down, that left them pretty thin in the frontcourt. I'm not ready to write Kosta Koufos off yet (several teams expressed interest at the trade deadline), but he still has a little ways to go.

I'm not quite decided on Boozer yet, either. I'm not convinced he will get the money he thinks he can on the free agent market. Several teams have cleared enough to throw at several players, but I'm not sure Boozer is what most have in mind. If he does opt out and the Jazz choose to resign him, I don't think he should get a raise and should probably take a slight pay cut. Millsap has proven he is going to be a stud for a long time.

AK's contract is going to be a huge weight off the Jazz. I think he's an important part of the team, but is way overpaid for what he brings. I can see him resigning, but for much less. He may also get moved, but with the Jazz trying to get their payroll down, I think the best move will be to just let his contract expire.

It should be fun to watch. I'm a lifelong Jazz fan and want to see them win a championship more than anything in basketball.

trading kirlanko

First, boox doesn't have to opt out. He is an unrestricted free agent.
I think it is highly probably the jazz trade kirlanko some time this next year. He is in the last year of his BIG contract. That is good buisiness sense for the jazz. They question is however, who will take him since most of the big names are this year. Whatever happens around that move is going to be big for the jazz. I'm so accustomed lately of them not doing anything so it wouldn't surprise me to see them do nothing and just let it expire, but there probably will be some good deals to be had with people liking his expiring contract.
One postential I've seen is perhaps something with the sixers trying to get rid of brand. Brand would probably do well in Utah's system. But would sixes give up their #2 to get rid of Brand? Not sure if the numbers work but AK and pick #9 for Brand and pick #2?

The deal for Philly is keeping a good draft pick and freeing themselves from the long contract of Brands...

I think we will draft Edoh or

I think we will draft Edoh or Whiteside. Maybe Aldrich or Monroe if they fall. I'd like to see us try and make a trade to move up. Maybe a sign and trade with boozer.

Boozer and Ak

I think they are both gone. AK is a russian god and is going to end up in Jersey I have a feeling. I hope we get something for him. And with a front court of
Udoh/Whiteside, Milsap
Tomic, Okur and Fes we really dont need booz for what kind of money he is gna ask for.

Tomic is so skinny he can not

Tomic is so skinny he can not be productive in the NBA. He dosen't have any bigtime athleticism to make for his lack of weight and is not dominant in Europope. Forget him

Who would New Jersey offer

Who would New Jersey offer for AK. I mean he is not just a guy you trade expiring contracts for. The only person I would be interested in is Terrence Williams, but would the Nets be willing to part with their rookie. Or maybe just the third pick would be good for him. We could use that third pick to land Wesley Johnson who I am very high on.

What are talking about

What are talking about webballin? Why do you think he went to Real Madrid. And just because he is not dominant does not mean he cant dominate in the NBA. Ever heard of Brandon Jennings. He was used as a scrub in England yet he made quite an impact with the Bucks. He helped them reach the playoffs!!

Does anybody know what the contract situation is with Tomic?

Can't you only hold a guy whose rights you draft for so many years?

Does the kid not want to play in the NBA? Perhaps not with the Jazz?

I'm just wondering if and when we can expect to see him in a Jazz uniform.

Anyone with any knowledge on his contract situation?

It's getting to a point where more and more of these Euro..

Euro players don't really want to play in the NBA. They almost prefer to stay home, and play for their national teams. It seems like the draw to play in the NBA isn't as potent as it once was, because they are getting bigger money contracts to just stay overseas.

Just saw on wikipedia...

Tomic just signed a 3 1/2 year deal with Real Madrid in January of this year. He's 23 now, so he will be 26 or 27 before his contract expires with them. Disappointing. Apparently he has no desire to leave Europe.

Tomic

There is no buy out clause this year so it is at least until next year that we could make a run but still I don't think he wants to come looking at his new deal.
