You never want to take coin out of somebody’s pocket, but after watching Jodie Meeks pull six million plus a year from Detroit and Bradley nabbing eight million a year from boston it’s easy to see why Lance Stephenson balked at the five year $44 million  offer from Indiana. If those guys, who are likely both best utilized as rotation players off the bench, can pull that kind of scratch it’s going to be a long summer of spending for teams. As a Knicks fan whose watched guys get outrageous deals for years now you’d think this wouldn’t surprise me, but sheesh.

Detroit should have saved their money for Lance. He is everything that they need, and they have a coach who is a bigger a–hole than him.

Boston is getting a bargain on Bradley I think. 15ppg and 40% 3s at 23 years old. Much better ball ahead of him. But Lance deserves more than 44/5

I do wonder what Lance, Chandler Parsons and Greg Monroe get…

Not to mention what LeBron, Bosh, Melo, Wade, Bledsoe and Lowry get…

If the Lakers sign Deng and Lowry to play PG and SF they’d have Lowry, Kobe, Deng and Randle in place, they can resign Pau Gasol to play C or maybe they wait for The Bucks to trade Larry Sanders, Steve Nash for Sanders works out financially, the Lakers would just lack other assets to entice the Milwaukee GM, a result of trading away future picks

Luol makes sense in Dallas as well, he and Tyson Chandler would give the Mavs 2 very good defensive players to help cover up the Felton/Ellis back court, if they also steal Chandler Parsons they’ll be a very tough out next year

And they actively tried to trade him, but had no suitors…

He had his issues last year, but he’s the only center on the roster. They are going to need him to produce this year if they want to be halfway competitive.

I’m not a big fan of Larry Drew anymore because he doesn’t play guys that he need to play…  He didn’t play Larry Sanders last year because of what stats said…  Since they signed him to a big contract and the worst team in the league, Sanders should’ve played…  But I can see how if it doesn’t work out with Kidd he can get traded to get that contract out of their hands…  Right now he’s in rehab though

Seriously, how? He didn’t play much last year and was horrible when he did play. He was also pretty bad the year before. I had no idea this was going to be such a good year to be a free agent. What makes it worse is I don’t see how he fits in Orlando.

Just read on ESPN that the Cavs are ‘preparing’ a max offer to Hayward.

The spending right now is kind of crazy in the first days of free agency and I really can’t believe how the GMs are throwing money around.

Now if Hayward gets a max deal better prepare for a Lance max offer as well as Parsons, Monroe and Lowry will get very close to max money too.

Wow, must be cool to be young and promising in this years free agent class when even 30 year old Gortat gets a 5 year 60 million contract.

To me Bradley getting 8 million is a steal when Meeks gets 6 plus million.  Bradley has much more upside at 23, then Meeks at 26, will be 27 in a little over a month.  Also Bradley has lost development time due to the big three and injuries.  I just feel that Meeks might have just had his best season he’ll ever have.  I see Meeks as a reserve on a contending team, while I see Bradley as a starter.

As to what Monroe, Parsons and Stephenson will get;  I think Monroe and Parson get max offers and Stephenson gets a close to max offer and might just get the max.  When I say Max I mean 4 years and 62 million, which is what these three can get from another team, their own teams can give them more.

I still think either Thomas or Rondo are going to be starting.  They just got a good back up in their push to make the playoffs.  Just a depth signing, at a very high cost.
