Toronto RaptorsThe point is the lockout was mainly due to BRI and competitive balance but looking at it. The league has a lot of competitive balance. Only 7 teams are really “bad” and 3 are considered “elite”. The NBA is in a great place right now and will continue to get better

TallmanNYCParticipantI totally agree with you that there is plenty of competitive balance, except for Miami. Really, I don’t expect either OKC or the Bulls to be able to hang with Miami this year. Yes, both of those teams were great last year and both of those teams got better in the off season. However, I don’t think people realize how much better Miami got. True there were no "big names" joining them, but you don’t realize how bad some of the guys that they played major minutes last year really were. Hasleem, Battier and the rookie Cole are going to be major improvements over guys that played last season. The Heat blowing out the Mavs wasn’t a fluke. The Heat are going to make a lot of teams look very bad this season. And I’m not saying this as any kind of Fan of the Heat. I’m just recognizing that they were really good last season and that they are going to be much better this season.
And to make matters worse, the Heat are built for the playoffs when they can play there big three 40+ minutes a game.
Also, slide those Nuggets up to the "very good" team. You watch, just like they did after the Melo trade, the Nugs are going to win lots of games this year in the regular season.

Tobe BryantParticipantI can’t wait to see the Heat against Boston tonite. I wish Paul Pierce was playing so it can be a great gauge for them. Brandon Bass is looking damn good as well for Boston, and 2nite I’d like to see D.Wade match up with Rondo and let Chalmers play Pavlovic because he’s going to be the starter.

Charlie SheenParticipantI would put Denver in the very good category but they only have 1 all star caliber guy. They will compete with teams though.
Miami is truly in a class of their own and if Mike Miller comes back to form…..damn I mean scary its over for the league
