mikeyvthedonParticipantJust get it. Or don’t. But honestly, it is not that big of a deal to have insider. It is $2.50 a month if you get a 2 year subcription. Plus you get ESPN the magazine in hard copy or online edition (or both I guess). But the deal with insider is this: They never really have the entire inside story. I think a lot of it is fairly theatrical and just a way to get 2.50 out of you for content somewhat different to that of the normal everyday storylines. Hollinger makes outrageous claims involving statistics, than takes them back and tells you he was right all along. Chad Ford turns the NBA draft into a soap opera, with one team changing things drastically everyday, than come draft day you find out it is all balogna. It is fun to read though, slightly entertaining and a way I have kept myself occupied when it comes to stuff like who the Ducks new coach would be (though they never said Altman until after he was already hired). Plus you can look at David Thorpe’s fairly generic break down of rookies, hear rumors that will surely be rported on most other sites (like this one) and you do get to see scouting reports on high school prospects, though even their it is fairly limited.
The reason I will not post it is due to copyright infringement, which is just something I try to abide by. That is why I prefer posting links as opposed to articles if I want to show something to posters here. I just try not to take credit for the work of others, and I usually try to site my sources and sites. Draftexpress and this site will have the combine results soon enough anyhow, plus Chad Ford broke it down in ways that made it seem like so and so ran the same time as so and so, and we all know that is not how it looks. If you lose the race by .04, you lose the race, you do not tie. So, John Wall running a 3.15 meant he ran slower than Trevor Booker’s 3.1. Whoop-dee-doo. Is John Wall still not beating the dude to the basket at will off the dribble? Have to believe so. I can relate to those of you without insider, as I always tried to get it for free, and think it is a less than stellar way to spend 30 bucks a year, but if you want it badly enough to get it for free, that is the price you pay. It’s not called the rainbow fairy dust market, it is the black market 🙂

JNixonParticipantGood looking out Pureshooter.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 9:26am #321899
Anton123Participantyou the man!
Terrico White’s max vert is intriguing at 400 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 9:33am #321907
PureshooterParticipantUnless the numbers in the columns are off, it looks like Babbitt actually had a 3.4 sprint, while James Anderson (listed below him) had a 3.19. The vertical numbers all seem consistent from what was being leaked earlier, though.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 10:19am #321933
nhlkdog411ParticipantI’d guess the columns are off since I doubt Ford would make that screw up.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 10:24am #321938
JoeWolf1The leaked information was wrong, on the direct insider link has Babbit’s 3/4 sprint at 3.4, James Anderson’s was the 3.2

JNixonParticipantWhat happened to Craig Brackins’ “40 inch vert”?
I’ve watched the man play at least 20 times I know, and I couldn’t believe that for the life of me.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 10:49am #321954
Lodzio20Participantif that is true that’s one of the worst class of leapers…Maybe they jumps with slippers not shoes…LOL
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 10:51am #321957
JoeWolf1Yeah, I guess that was wrong too, It was really a 35” max vert, I knew it seemed off, but I figured he may have Josh McRoberts athleticism, a high vert and poor lateral quickness and poor short burst speed.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 10:52am #321958
Lodzio20ParticipantDamion James last year has 37.5 vert and now he has only 33…i think these measurments were inacurrate or players don’t take them seriously…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 11:16am #321979
lalailaParticipantmost interesting for me
Ed Davis 31&36 vertical…THE BEST out of big men also better than Blake’s max vert last year almost identical with Favors in everything expect strength offcourse.
Xavier Henry 36.5 max vert 11.1 & 3.18 in runs..i knew it he looks like 240lbs muscular grown men with wide shoulders loke JJ but with under 5% body fat and 210lbs he shocked me, he just got to be this year’s James Harden in the combine.
DeMarcus Cousins 292 pounder with 11.4 lane agility better than Monroe Aldrich Alabi Varnado
Wesley Johnson 16 in 185lbs bench press, whatt?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 11:33am #321994
StF616ParticipantPureshooter, those measurements are probably wrong,
I just can’t see myself having a higher standing vertical jump(30)
than most of these guys,
i mean, they’re freaking college ball players in division 1 basketball
I’m a 13 year old in junior high,
Where did you get it from?0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 11:41am #321996

StF616ParticipantI just really cant believe these measurements,
they look really low0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 12:28pm #322022
mikeyvthedonParticipantI know! I mean, I like Craig Brackins, but that was pushing it. I was looking to the combine more than those initials. I mean, Ebanks arms are even 3 inches longer at the combine. This either speaks to bad information, though I do not know from who, the combine, or the Abunassar camp. I guess only the players know for sure, but than again, they only know what they are told as well, lol. Who knows what to take from these results, but these guys can run fast and jump high. Can they play basketball though? That is the ultimate question. I would think Brackins should get a serious look in that first round. Not only because of his solid athletic scores, but the guy can hoop. What makes some of these guys better than him? To me, a 35 inch vert is enough to impress me for that guy.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 12:38pm #322027
JNixonParticipantCraig Brackins is definitely better than a 2nd round pick. He didn’t get better after his Sophomore year, and neither did Iowa State so I feel it was pointless for him to return to college. But when you factor in that teams were running gimmick defenses to stop him, the fact that Iowa State was poorly coached and had poor talent outside of him, Gilstrap and Diante Garrett, you have to watch him play and not look at the numbers going down. He’ll also benefit from not having to carry a huge load in the NBA like he did in college. I expect Brackins to be like Charlie Villanueva in the NBA, which is certainly good for a projected 2nd rounder.

Lodzio20Participantfor draftexpress results because i can’t believe those verticals are that low.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 1:42pm #322083
Michael.S.ParticipantHey, I can’t believe these results are legit…When I was watching the actual combine they said Crawfords standing vert was 36 and now his MAX vert is 34.5…..His standing vert is SUBSTANTIALLY lower than what they said at when i was watching the combine
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 1:46pm #322087
rtbtParticipantLet me remind you guys about an article that I believe was on NBADraft.net a couple of years ago. They selected the guys with the top 10 NBA combine scores and compared them with their actual performance on the court. If I remember correctly, only 3 or 4 of the guys with the ten best combine scores actually made in it the NBA.
So yes, combine scores/results are interesting for discussion purposes, but very often they are not a major factor in who is or isn’t drafted. How a guy plays the game is always going to be number one.

PureshooterParticipantHere is the link where I got the numbers from:
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1014630
Again, don’t take these as gospel by any means, but many of them seem consistent with what has been leaked earlier today.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/27/2010 - 3:58pm #322145
ItsVictorOladipoParticipantdamn, monroe can’t jump. 29 inch max vert. Good thing he’s so tall and skilled…
