Monk might be a really good pick for the Sixers.  He can shoot and score and is a good athlete.  Depending on how well he is doing in workouts, you can defend this pick.

If they play Simmons at point, Monk makes good sense as the starting shooting guard.

Or, in a basic lineup with Simmons at the 3, Saric at the 4, and Embiid at the 5, you can go with a backcourt that has something for everyone with TJ McConnell and Malik Monk.

OR, you have Monk as the hot shot instant offense 6th man.

… I think Jeanne gets drafted but really late…

10 through about 40 looks fluid.  Depends on need, workouts, and maybe even team culture.  Looks like a lot of really solid role players in that spot, but I am not sure how many "upside" guys you have there.

Relatively unproven "upside guys" either go high in that 10-15 or 20 range, OR they fall to the LATE SECOND ROUND as more proven college upperclassmen who can fill a need and give you a skillset.  So, after that particular tier of players runs out somewhere in the 2nd round THEN you look at raw, "upside" guys and your international draft and stash guys.

As a Sixers fan I would be crushed if the team took Monk over Josh Jackson. The only thing Monk can do better than Jackson is shoot the ball. In every other aspect Jackson is vastly superior, and I think Jackson can develope into a good 3pt shooter as well. To go even further, I really hope LA takes Ball at 2 because I would prefer Jackson over him as well. A Starting lineup of Simmons, Jackson, Covington, Saric, and Embiid is a scary one.

Nets aint taking 2 bigs in the 1st, they need a pg.

Thornwell aint falling to 58. c’mon Cavallaro.

Monk absolutely is not a top 3 pick in this draft. That is not to say the 76’ers don’t want him on the roster, which also makes trading down a reasonable scenario for them depending on what they can get in return or who they can unload.

The most likely scenario is them trading down with Sacramento for 5 & 10. This has become widely known as a strong possibility on the Sacramento side, becasue they have Fox at the top of their board and would be willing to give up both 5 & 10 to get him, this would especially be true if Ball goes 2nd as expected where Phoenix is then %80 likely to take Fox then at 4. assuming of course that without trading up to 3 , Philly would take Jackson. So the only question is Does Philly want a less of a fit option in Jackson but a better prospect and keep the pick, or do they decide to make the deal and take Tatum at 5 instead of Monk  who also would be a supperb fit in the philly line up, and is a better defender than Monk. Then Philly gets a shot a Kennard at 10 or Monk or Mitchell if Kennard leapfrogs Monk and lands in Dallas or NY.

I don’t think for a second that Philly would pass up Ball & Fox if Jackson goes 2 to the Lakers if either one of them got them 5 & 10 either.

But I think in most situations Philly would then have to take Monk at 5 with NY being sold on him over others at 8 should he be there if they like him that much over Tatum which is still too high for him.

Monk is a 7-11 range pick in this draft without being overvalued.
