What are the ceilings in terms of potential for the players on your favorite teams?

    Here’s my Cuse:

PG – Scoop Jardine – Poor man’s Monta Ellis

Ok I couldn’t think of another one off the top of my head. I’d say Scoop is a less explosive Monta Ellis and not as much a threat from deep. Scoop can drive on college players, but he’ll need to gain a more consistent jumper and also a good head on his shoulders. His shot and pass selection is questionable at best from time to time. He does average 6 assists in the Big East so I’ll take it.

SG – Brandon Triche – Dwyane Wade

I don’t think he’ll be the next D-Wade, but as of late he’s played like him. He went 22-6-5 against St. John’s. It seems like he’s gone under the radar for the most part this season. Triche has a great leaping ability for a SG and can grab some boards. His jumper has improved and he can still get to the rim. Personally, I think Waiters should start alongside Triche instead of Jardine, but that’s another topic.

SF – Kris Joseph – Wesley Johnson

Kris has better handles and drives better than Wes, but Wes has a better jumper. They both can dish it and grab boards well too. The thing that gets on me is Kris has a tendency to disappear or pass up shots when the team needs him to shoot, a little like Wes last year. Both need to develop a killer instinct before they can become all stars.

PF- Rick Jackson – Al Jefferson

Rick’s post moves at the college level are great. I’ve yet to see someone stop him on the offesnse or defensive side of the post this year. His post game is slightly similar to Al Jefferson’s. The main difference is their agility. Jackson has improved his quickness to the rim, but he’ll need to be even quicker to succeed in the NBA.

    C – Fab Melo – Greg Monroe

He’s been coming along ever since his achilles started to heal. His passing ability is there already as a freshmen. His size helps him get position so by the time he’s a senior he won’t be able to be stopped in the low post. He also is a heads up player when going for boards on the offensive end. He will tip it to a teammate when he knows the defender has position. He uses his height well already, but needs to gain endurance and better post moves before he can be Greg Monroe 2.0.

Keep in mind these are just ceilings. I’m not saying for example Triche will drop 25-7-5 in the NBA, I’m just saying he plays like him.

I’d like to hear the ceilings of players on your teams.

I understand what you might mean by "ceilings," but there is not a single Syracuse player on  this list that even plays like the person they are compared to.

I’m sorry, I watch the Cuse every game (live in upstate) and NONE of them comparisons are even close.

    Here i go with UNC

Kendall Marshall- ceiling… hmm… Jason Kidd?? if he develops his 3 point shot.

Dexter Strickland- Do not see a future for him in the NBA, but at his highest peak i would consider a Shannon Brown type, not as athletic with dunks, but speed and getting to the rim abilities. ( stretch)

Harrison Barnes- Call me crazy, but i see a little Scottie Pippen, He’s got the smooth J and can get to the rim and is a great defender. Pair him with a super star(MJ and scottie) he could be pretty special.

John Henson- i honestly have no clue with Henson, at his best in the league i could see him filling a Bynum role. 8-10 boards, 10-12 points with some decent defense.

Tyler Zeller- I don’t know why but when i watch him i see Pau Gasol. Not quite as talented offensively, but same range shooting wise. Both like playing with the back to the basket with the baby hook and both dont rebound terribly well for 7 footers.

Thats what i got, what do you guys think?

Every player is overrated, if Ellis, Wade, Johnson, Jefferson, and Monroe all played together in college they would be one of the best teams ever, which Cuse is not.

These are ceilings though, meaning the best possibl thing that can happen.

I guess a ceiling can’t ever be fully reached, a player could always have been better. As an example Jordan could’ve developed a better 3pt shot
