I hate to hype a player so young as he is only going into the 8th Grade, but Cody Riley (Class of 2017- 6’8 – F – California) is a special talent. This kid has size, skill, and athleticism that I’ve never seen before at such a young age. Although he has leap years of develoment ahead of him, he is definitely someone you want to familiarize yourself with as a basketball enthusiast. Cody Riley, if you ever come across this thread… Keep working harder than everyone else EVER, believe in yourself and not others, and stay focused! The NBA is never guaranteed…

Have you never looked up youtube videos of Lebron at SVSM?

Ummm…I was talking about Middle School, not High School… Was LeBron already 6’8" in Middle School???… The answer is NO… LeBron was a 6’6" sophmore with about as much muscle mass as Cody Riley has right now as a rising 8th grader… Yes LeBron is most likely going to end up being the more athletic of the two, but he didn’t have the combination of size and athleticism at the same age… Which was my point… Find me a 7th grade video of LeBron where he’s catching Oops, and is 6’8"… All I was saying is that of any 7th grader I’ve ever seen, no one has combined size, athleticism, and skill into a more refined package than Cody Riley… Not LeBron, Derrick Caracter, Taylor King, Demetrius Walker, Tyson Chandler, Renardo Sidney, OJ Mayo, or Andrew Wiggins… All of whom were arguably the most hyped Pre – High School prospects of the last 2 decades… But of course, look at some of the names on that list and you will see that even the most hyped don’t always make it…

Now let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves and start saying Cody Riley is the next Lebron… I’m just saying

Not saying he’s the next LeBron of course, he has a long way to go… But watching Riley initiate fast breaks, beat players off the dribble, make crisp no look passes, use his off hand, show a soft touch on his jumpers, and jam down two handed alley opps as a 6’8" rising 8th grader is unheard of… This isn’t just some big kid dominating 5’7" opposing Centers, as he plays AAU-16 Under and still dominates that age group… As long as he keeps working hard he has a chance to be the best High School Prospect we’ve seen since LeBron, and possibly Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, for you youngsters)…

I was saying there is no way he is more athletic that Lebron. Don’t know why you thought I was comparing them when I was doing the exact opposite.

If Riley is the most athletic kid you have seen, then you haven’t seen Lebron when he was a kid.

Moves really well for a kid going into the 8th grade. Heard about Cody for a while now, pretty intriguing prospect that looks to have a bright future. Definitely advanced for his age considering his size, will more than likely be a hyped recruit. Seems to like basketball and intend on getting better, should become a highly rated recruit. His development will be interesting to monitor. Hard to say he will be LeBron, but the last kid that looked this freakish at his age/height was indeed Andrew Wiggins. Not even saying he is Andrew, just definitely seems to be on the road to being a high level prospect.

Is he in the same class as that kid Horace Spencer? Spencer was hyped up a couple years ago as another "new Lebron".
