I think if Bledsoe didn’t have the season he did, the issue would have went unnoticed. IMO it seems like the NCAA only investigates, when a player has made progress. Although he was not suppose to be eligible in the first place, he was just one of those under the radar guys that slid through. If he was a McDonald’s All-American he would have never been eligible from the jump. Just think if Josh Selby was an under the radar prospect like Bledsoe, he would have never been in the discussion of being eligible @ all.

OhCanada-ParticipantI dont see what the big deal is that he only got a C. So what. He didn’t assault anyone, or anything like that. This is typical bullying. This is like getting fired from work for being 5 minutes late.

Mr. 19134ParticipantOhCanada funny you said that because i got a counseling statement from my work for clocking in at 7:02 when i was suppose to be in at 7:00…unreal…and i have no idea how in the world you got negatives for that statement unless my boss was reading it haha…anyways…this is why i hate the NCAA because they are notoriously unfair and unreasonable with college athlete and their situation…its way worse in football to the point i cant stand college football because of how they treat their athlete like the whole Reggie Bush situation they are going to take his Heisman away because he accepted money…of course he accepted money when you’re a college athlete you’re not allowed to work, and whats the difference of somebody giving him money and him being able take out extra loans because of his athletic ability and the banks knowing that he is going to make it all bacc…and what does that have to do with him being the most dominant player in college that year to the point it was a runaway vote but because he accepted money he dont deserve it like who cares…And the whole Memphis thing like so what Rose aint book smart he’s not going to college to get an education he’s going to play basketball and I could care less what he gets in school…The bottom line is that not everybody is going to do well in school but that shouldn’t mean they should have opportunities taken away in life at what they do well in…

MelParticipantNCAA is one of the biggest jokes around. They reprimand these players for accepting money but they profit. They can sell they’re jerseys and promote these players on websites but the player can’t see a dime of it. BULL.

llperezway to many downfalls to allowing college athletes to make money. It would basically become a pro league and the biggest schools with the richest tv deals would get all the top guys becasue they can pay more. That would all just be absurd. If the player doesnt want to play for free for one year, then just go play pro ball in the nbdl or overseas for a year.

Cusemen727ParticipantI agree with most of your statement, I dont believe these kids should be getting paid, these kids are gettin a free ride to college, but if schools were allowed, I’m sure there would be some sort of set amount, so like you said a UK couldnt pay triple what gonzaga could pay.
With that being said, they should get rid of this one year rule, its stupid and doesnt help anybody but the big wigs running the NCAA, let the kids go pro out of HS, if they make it in the league, good for them, if they dont, atleast they got a nice lil pay day.0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/15/2010 - 2:38am #401532
