Outside of “referee interference,” why is it so difficult for NBA teams to close out games on the road?
Role players play better at home.
The crowd has to have something to do with it. I mean, trying to silence a crowd is a great motivator, but it’s easier said than done with a parochial home crowd baying for blood.
The peak Spurs teams must have been good at this as in later years they were more a team unit when Tim Duncan wasn’t quite at his peak. It would have been interesting to see how they did it successfully excusing of course T-Mac’s 13 points in 35 seconds over a decade ago.
