Clippers this year...
What an odd team in terms of peaks and valleys.
We all know what CP3 can do, but it really seemed this year they had a legitimate team around him. They looked awesome in the first half of the season, and then right towards the end of the year they looked like they woke up again. Then in games 1 and 2, they looked like they might close the Grizzlies out fast, but instead they completely and utterly collapsed.
This game tonight was so bizarre. Del Negro went with totally random rotations (definitely is going to get him fired, but I give him credit for trying to mix it up a bit) Crawford barely plays, he barely plays any bigs, and CP3 ends up getting ejected.
Billups really showed maybe its time for him to give up on this basketball life at the end of that game.
Lionel Hollins made the right adjustments while Del Negro made ZERO adjustments, loss after loss.
That's it exactly. Lionel Hollins out coached Vinny Del Negro. I have to imagine Vinny Del Negro won't be coming back as the Clippers coach next season. His ineptness has lead to all sorts of problems for the Clippers and getting beat in the first round should seal his fate.
Who do the Clippers get to replace him...Stan Van Gundy, Nate McMillian?...
How great would it be for the Clippers to hire Phil Jackson so he could stick it to the lakers
Blake Griffin proved he isn't a super star
Blake Griffin is good, but he certainly isn't a super star. He's limited offensively and needs to improve on defense too. He's a big guy who works hard though. Griffin should sign himself up for big man camp with Hakeem and hire someone to expand his defensive abilities.
All Griffin does it dunk and layups. never thought he was a star and ppl just got enamored with his athleticisim, but when he plays legit bigs he doesnt do well
I knew giving deandre 10 mill per was a mistake, i called
It then. he's nothing more then an athlete. Can't throw the ball to him when the games actually mean something. Jamal was garbage tonight. Season on the line and he looked awful. Can't blame the coach for sitting him while other wings were
Actually playing hard. Memphis was just too good though. Blake was hurt these last few
GMes, but he just hasn't made the necessary strides since his rookie year to be an elite player.
I think Paul got a free pass in NO and now the same with the Clippers. It's always his teammates fault at some point he'll have to take responsibility for not winning. Maybe he is the best PG and the PG position is the least important position to winning, IDK.
I agree Richie... Chris is undoubtably a very very good player, but he just isn't quite good enough to will his teams to win.
Admittedly this wasn't the best assembled team, but its not like he's playing with Kendrick Perkins, DeAndre Liggins, and Derek Fisher. They have talent, they have guys who can do different things, and they actually were deep. Their bench was among the best in the league. I actually don't hate VDN, but I think they need a coaching change just to freshen it up and mix it up. There offense was pretty vanilla. But more than a coaching change, maybe they need to swap the deck with some trades. Too bad they wasted their amnesty on Gomes they really need to get rid of Jordan...he's way too overpaid.
He also didn't get to play against the Houston rockets either, otherwise he probably would be playing in rd 2.
Its crazy how much DeAndre Jordan makes considering the production he provides. Its good to be a 7 footer though...it gets you lots of chances to succeed.
Vinny isn't a bad coach, it's more that the Clips aren't really that good.
PG: CP3(All Star), Bledsoe (good player)
G: Billups(please retire), Crawford(can score but can't guard a candy store from kids), Green(not bad)
C: Jordan(worthless), Hollins(nice back up), Turiaf(nice back up).
SF: Butler (not bad), Barnes(good player), Hill(will retire)
PF: Griffin(no real post up moves and can't score outside 5 ft), Odom(why?)
So if you really check out there roster...if they can't run, there really not that good?
And I like the Clips, but there's tons of holes in their roster. First off, Jordan shouldn't really be in the league, he's really bad. Griffin can dunk and run, but can't hit a mid-range jumper. They need a SG/C/PF and hopefully they can sign CP3, but if you were CP3...would you???
Charles Barkley said it best on Blake Griffin during his rookie year: "If Blake learns to be a basketball player, he will be the scariest dude on the planet... He's relying on his talent alone..."
I haven't seen much improvement from him this year... His numbers are down and he struggled to keep up against guys like Z-Bo and Gasol...
