I think this is a nice signing to round out the team. He was pretty good in summer league and at times was the best player on the team although he was playing with Aminu, Bledsoe, Warren, Sofo, and Jordan. He is an ultra-athletic, 6-6, Small Forward with a ridiculous 7-1 wingspan. He is a great dunker and an excellent defender. He was all conference first team defense and his arm length makes him a great defender. Now when you think of a 6-6, very athletic, SF who is versatile enough to play multiple positions, has a long wingspan, and makes highlight reel dunks by jumping out of the gym…who do you think of? Shannon Brown? Well that’s who I think of and Blakely has a very similar game in my opinion. What do you think? Make sure you watch the videos before commenting.

agreed, I like this kids game…

but Shannon Brown isn’t a 6-6 Small Forward lol

Ultra Athletic, yes, 6-6? Hello to the Noooooo, he’s listed at 6-4 but looks more smaller.

Anywho, back to Blakely, I feel he can have a similar game to Brown in a way in the sense he may be able to have an impact on the game due to his athleticism, but although just a rookie he is already a better rebounder/shot blocker than Shannon Brown will ever be. 6-6 Ultra Athletic Small Forward with good defensive potential, as well as more than decent rebounding/shot blocking skills (and he is a surprising productive assist man in college 3.7 APG Senior Year); his offensive potential isn’t great due to his lack of a consistent perimeter shot (and doesn’t show much promise to improve in that area) but he will be one of those guys who can gets their points primarily off fast breaks and putback’s; his handles, while solid, aren’t that good that he will be able to create much offense for himself. All that being said, he reminds me more of a shorter, less talented version of Shawn Marion. Another guy he reminds me of is Dominic McGuire, (3 inches shorter of course), long athletic with solid rebounding skills and a good passing game as well a suitable defender

lived ten minutes from uvm gym. he is going to be a good role player some day. he’s too raw offensively but he could develop a midrange maybe 3. he improved his free throw % by 14 % last year should be able to improve jumper. it was non existent in college. but now that he knows and gains confidence in his physical ability hopefully he will start to develop a shot. I think he’s a small forward josh smith. he has great vision and passed outta of double teams beautifully in college as well as great passing on the break. not great handle doesnt break somebody down 1-1 but can drive to the hoop. if he could develop a shot i think he could open up driving lanes for himself and be able to finish. he should be put in the nbdl for a couple years IMO to gain confindence and playing time. Not like the clippers are going anywhere soon. In a couple years a good role player tony allen/josh smith type

He’ll probably play a similar role to Quinton Ross in 2006 with the Clippers. Maybe not start, and probably not even half the minutes. But eventually, he might crack the rotation; come in to guard the oppositions best perimeter player and maybe hit the open 15 footers. His defensive potential is quite intriguing.
