After that heartbreaking loss to the Warriors the Clippers have been in a mini slump then losing the Trailblazers by11 and now losing to the Raptors by 30 at halftime. I was gonna go to this game until I realized its INL.A. and its a good thing I didn’t have to watch this and pay to. Griffin and Paul have a combined 2-points. Biyambo is outplaying Jordan. Raps aren’t even playing amazing right now guys like Caroll and Scola are just hitting open shots and Derozan can’t buy a jumper he is just hitting his ft’s.

The Clippers better hope they can turn this around fast. A few more games like this and changes will be made.

I live in Hawaii and we get the Clippers channel so I get to watch them a lot.  On paper this team should be one of the top teams in the West(below the Warriors, Spurs, and OKC).  However, watching them play over the last couple years and now this season they are always missing something.  This year I think it is the lack of outside shooting to spread the floor.  With the NBA going towards "pace and space" the Clippers do not have enough shooters.

I think it starts with Chris Paul because too often he isn’t aggressive enough looking for his own offense.  Next, looking at this years team they do not have enough consistent shooters outside of Redick and CP3.  Jamal and Pierce are getting older and aren’t able to score consistently like they used to. Out of their other guards and wings, West Johnson is the best 3pt shooter at 36% this year.  Teams can sag off of Rivers, Smith, and Stephenson clogging the paint.

Most teams now have at least one PF or C that can stretch the floor with their 3pt shooting.  This Clippers team does not have a single one(besides a rare 3pt shot from Griffin).  Josh Smith is willing to take 3s but opposing teams will gladly live with that.  Pierce can play small ball 4 which helps a little but he’s not the same shooter from his years in Boston.

Lastly there is the issue of Deandre Jordan who re-signed with the Clippers on a 4yr 87.6 million dollar contract.  He provides no offense besides lobs and putbacks.  Jordan lacks any post moves and is shooting 37.8% from the free throw line.  He really needs to take a look at what Andre Drummond is doing dominating the boards.  I know he is averaging 12.8rebs per game but that is down from 15rebs last season.

What a terrible game. Raps only score 27 in the second half… Both teams would’ve lost to Philly tonight. I made a post about the Clippers but I should probably be concerned about the Raptors.

Changes can’t be made there.  The President of Basketball Operations won’t fire the coach, he is the coach.

They probably can’t trade a pick from the near-future, as the 2017 pick is gone for when they wanted to move Dudley’s contract.

Crawford’s ending deal is an asset, Stephenson is also an ending deal as the next year is a team option.  They don’t have a lot to trade to find a quality small forward.

The big pieces are Blake, C Paul and the center who was nearly a Maverick.  Not sure who they would trade if they wanted to make a big change, probaby Jordan.

They either need to make a drastic improvement or they’ll soon find themselves in purgatory…

No one should want anyone on that team but Blake Griffin and Chris Paul(for the right price)

I think Griffin will have to carry this team offensively now and the foreseeable future, that in it’s self is a problem, he have a 2nd option and system to support him, I get the feeling they regret spending the money on Jordan but what options did they have, he would have gutted their interior defense and left a huge hole at theit Center spot

When you think about it, they have nowhere to go but down, Paul and Pierce are ancient in NBA terms, Blake is taking a beaten and can’t carry a team by himself, Jordan offers nothing o Offense but a dunks, no one is scared of Jamal Crawford and Josh Smith off the bench, they would of put a team over the edge a few years ago

Their pieces are all too old and out of place(Lance has no place on this team unless he develops into their PG of the future?) In fact Lance needs out, I’ve never been a fan but he needs a place like Philly to thrive offensively, their he could handle the ball and play through his bone headed plays…

I dont think people understand how valuable JJ is to this clippers offense. Spreads the floor and is underated passer and defender. Perfect compliment to CP3 Blake and Deandre.

JJ is a great all around player. His defense is extremely underrated, he could easily be labeled at least as "decent".

Clips bench is trash.  i remember some fans getting all happy about them…really?  Smith, Stephenson, and Johnson are all casts off and its showing.  Austin is an average player.  So their starters have to put more into each game.  Plus Pierce is only go for 1-2 stand still 3’s and nothing else.

We’re less than a month into the season and everyone is ready to blow up this team.  Lets simmer down a bit.

For starters, this team lacks chemistry.  A lot of their issues are turnovers with balls being thrown in stands and dribbled out of bounds.  Their bench isn’t helping either, but that’s because their isn’t a big man off the bench outside of Josh Smith.   I wouldn’t want that dude on my team period.

Also, the D. Jordan basically sucks comment.   Doc Rivers lied.  He has not involved DeAndre in that offense.   He doesn’t get a chance to do any post moves because they don’t go to him.  He’s still regulated to put backs and oops, that’s why he doesn’t have a Drummond impact on his team.

Sorry but I’ve watched them quite a bit for about four years now.  It’s not just one season, they have yet to put it together since they acquired Chris Paul.  They usually play well in the regular season only to fall short in the playoffs.  This season there have been times when they gave DJ the ball in the post but trust me it was not pretty.  Drummond has developed a go to move in the post which is something DJ does not have.

lottery team before Paul so I’m not sure what you mean they have yet to put it together since acquiring him.

Drummond still is able to play through his mistakes.  I’ve seen DJ too and your statement that it "wasn’t pretty" is false.  Show me differently…

As far as them falling short in the playoffs,  I agree and I think it’s Chris Paul honestly.   He has managed to escape any flack for coming up short (something T-Mac and Melo get killed for).   He only managed to kill the Lakers one year and at that time the Lakers were known to get dominated at the PG position.   That was their main flaw…   He put the Hornets on his back and took them to 6 or 7 games just through the pick and roll.   It was almost like it was a cheat code… but anyway Chris never had a defining moment like that in another series.   He’s always falls short….  BUT I will still say it’s too early to write them off because they’re still a dangerous team.

They also have Doc who I think is overrated too.   Once Thibs left all his teams came up short from that point on…

I mean that they have been consistently winning 50+ games in the regular season since getting CP3 but have failed to reach the conference finals.  I still think DJ lacks a post game besides just dribbling the ball a couple times and throw up a shot at the rim.  He wanted to be featured more but it’s not realistic if he can’t make at a solid post move against NBA bigs.  Drummond may get to play through mistakes more but the fact he has a go to move now is also about the work he put in during the offseason.  Even go back and look at the highlights DJ had when he had those 20 20 games last year.  Most of that still came on putbacks and lobs.  He was just more aggressively attacking the offensive boards.

With this Clippers team Paul and Griffin need to be aggressive because the supporting cast outside of Redick aren’t consistent threats to score.  With the Clippers he looks to set up others too much instead of putting pressure on whoever is guarding him.  This year especially I’ve noticed he’s deferred to Griffin even more.  I do agree that I don’t understand how Paul has avoided criticism for coming up short.  Melo gets hammered with criticism even though I don’t think he’s had the talent that some of these Clippers teams had.

I also agree with you about Doc as a coach.  I used to think he was the 2nd best coach in the league behind Pop but over time I’ve come to see the shortcomings of the teams he’s coached.  I’m so glad that Ainge managed to get Brad Stevens because he’s been amazing at coaching Boston the last 3 years.  One thing I think Doc needs to get through to the Clippers is that they need to stop whining.  The players(and Doc) complain so much to the refs that it takes them out of the game.  The worst part is Balmer made him the GM, and so far he has been horrible.  Although, I did like some of their signings this offseason the pieces aren’t fitting right now.  To me they lack roleplayers that are threats from deep.  If you run a pick and roll with Blake and CP3 there need to be shooters making it hard to help off of. The problem is I’m not sure they can make too many moves during the season because they lack assets.  Doc even mentioned before the season that if they can’t win this year they might need to break up the core of the team.
