The8thDeadlySinParticipantThey claimed him off the amnesty waiver. The rules say they cannot trade him until the end of the season.
They claimed him to start him.. What does that mean for Mo Williams? Now they are out of the CP3 hunt for at least a year..

IndianaBasketballParticipantLAC called his bluff. Let’s see if Billups will retire like he’s been claiming. I think he should reconsider because he has a chance to be the leader this team needs and help them get into the playoffs.
LAC will have a very good three guard rotation. The good thing about all of LAC’s guards is that they can play both backcourt spots.

IndianaBasketballParticipantBillups/Wiliams/Bledsoe
Gordon/Foye
Butler/Aminu/Gomes/Moon
Griffin
Kaman/Jordan
That’s a very good team right there.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think Mo Williams could’ve been amnestied though… Either that or they didn’t match Jordan’s offer.
Reports are saying that they either had to amnesty Williams, Kaman or not match Jordan’s offer in order to make this happen.

I May Be WrongParticipantYeah, remember the affect that veteran PG Sam Cassell had with the Clippers that one season. You could see similar results with this Billups signing. He and Caron can provide some much needed experience all while having young prospects like Bledsoe and Aminu learn from them for another season. Billups should be happy he gets a chance to play with a potential playoff team (although, I can see where the allure of winning a chip with some contender would factor into him "retiring")

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIf Williams is cut, then he is going to Maimi… He would be the perfect fit there and Lebron will convince him to come there for at least 2 years.

IndianaBasketballParticipantLMAO that’d bring joy to lil Mo’s heart.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantMo is the one that was waived or amnestied..

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantBillups is going to play the Sam Cassell role. Back to the playoffs for the Clips.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantNow they are saying that nobody was amnestied.. Great move since they get to keep Williams and Jordan.

HaleParticipantThat’s an interesting pickup.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantLoL.. Bad part about being first is you are wrong sometimes…

IndianaBasketballParticipant8th is ON IT. You report faster than ESPN lol.
I kind of feel for Mo though… He was one of the leaders organizing workouts this summer and trying to change the culture/mindset of the team. He’s well liked in the locker room.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantAlso, Clipps will still have the "under cap" mid level exception to sign another role player.. Looks like they want to win ASAP.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHmmm… Interesting. Even though Jordan has his offer sheet, Clips haven’t matched yet, so only Jordan’s qualifying offer counted against cap.
Smart move getting Billups BEFORE matching Jordan.

natedogggParticipantVery smart move to use the cap space before matching Jordan.
Great move, they now have a very formidble starting 5 and plenty of trade options in Kamans exp contract, Mo Williams Exp contract, minnys pick and the young guys.
Dont forget they will also have room next year with the 3 vets (kaman, williams, billups) coming off the books.
wierd for the clippers to have such a bright future and very interesting the see where this leaves the chris paul saga.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantAll they need now is a scorer off the bench.. Someone who can, on some nights, get 15-17 points off the bench.. Lamar Odom, Jason Terry, Jamal Crawford, Marcus Thornton type player.. With Kaman and Williams, they could make a big trade for someone too..

phila9012Participanthad the heat got him they would have been a quality center from running away with the championship he would have been a nice piece for them. He would have fit really well with the team because he is everything lebrons not . He is clutch, he can score, he is a champion.

IndianaBasketballParticipantOne thing I’ve leared today from all of these reporters, sources, etc is that Adrian Wojnarowski from yahoo is the best. Way better than Chris Broussard.
Wojnarowski said consistently that Gordon wasn’t in the trade and that LAC had promised him that he wouldn’t be traded.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 12/12/2011 - 2:56pm #614689
HaleParticipantIf only Woj wasn’t such a huge LeBron hater…

marcusfizer21Participant"That’s a very good team right there."
damn right Indiana… ON PAPER.. We haven’t seen the curse doing its thing on them yet…lol
