Clippers about to make a play for igoudala

Probably just a rumor, but hoopshype has it reported as their headline today.. Not sure how LAC could match up contracts but they have some nice players...Anyone hear anything about this elsewhere.

GM and Vinny must have

GM and Vinny must have realized that they might have made a mistake drafting Aminu.

Gordon, Davis, and perhaps DeAndre Jordan are possible candidates for a trade. Who knows, maybe even Aminu himself. I don't think the Clippers will let anyone touch Kaman and Griffin. To me, I'd rather keep Kaman than send him away in return for Iguodala. Super athletic swingmen are a lot easier to find then polished big men with complete games and good mobility.

Ara Minata finally I find

Ara Minata finally I find someone who gives Chris Kaman the credit he deserves...he's 28 years old, made the all-star team this year and has undoubtedly reached his prime...why trade a GOOD big man who plays hard on both ends of the ball?

I think the Clippers are

I think the Clippers are trying to pull this deal off without giving up one of their four main guys (gordon, davis, griffin, kaman) but don't be surprised if they offer DeAndre Jordan, Al-Farouq Aminu, and a 1st rounder...they want to build a solid starting five so they can begin competing in the west

I think he's simply going off

I think he's simply going off Aminu's subpar summer league performance...other than that, I think it's far too early to "realize drafting him was a mistake"

Clippers

They used a top 10 pick on him. They won't consider drafting him a mistake based on the summer league. He is a very raw player.

Too early

Aminu is suppose to compliment the stars of the Clippers. Summer league is not a good enough gage to figure out how well he will play with the big boys. Kaman commands double teams at times and Blake will all the time. Guys can't leave Gordon outside, and B Diddy can do it all. Aminu will be the guy they forget about all he has to do is be active, play D, and work on the J. IMO Evan Turner and Igoudala have similar games minus Iggy is a better athelete. Not sure how well those two play together. We will see.

I think Aminu can play the

I think Aminu can play the role Tayshaun Prince played on their championship teams...he played solid D, was active offensively, didnt force anything, and developed a strong mid-range game and caused matchup problems

finally

it's good to see that the clippers are actually trying to do moves that will help them win
for the last at least 10 years they always just gave good players away and had no chance of winning
im happy for them and their fans that they are at least trying, and also think it is good for the whole nba

It's still too early, but

It's still too early, but Aminu didn't really impress me. Josh Smith type of athleticism? Please... He's a very good athlete, but not an elite one. He's very raw... He's a project.

I also seriously doubt that Gordon would be included in a trade.

@TaylorCondrin

Kaman is a good offensive center, but he does NOT play both ends of the floor. Let's make that clear... Kaman is an offensive center with mobility. That's about it... He's not a defender, nor a great rebounder. As good as he is offensively, I still have problems with him... You double him and he'll throw the ball away, especially if you force him towards the baseline.

if im the sixers, im not too

if im the sixers, im not too sure that the package from the clippers should be centered around al farouq aminu. They need either a post up center like kaman or a wing who could shoot like gordon. Aminu basically brings similar stuff to the table like thad young. WIth holiday and turner the focus to build around, that sf spot should be a shooer which is why they are probably looking to move iggy in the first place.

I think Kaman would be

I think Kaman would be included in the deal. He's not untouchable.

People tend to think he's better than what he is. He's not that good lol. He gets injured a lot. His leadership is questionable. He makes mental mistakes, especially the turnovers during double teams. He also doesn't hustle enough... His motor isn't high at all. He's a very good offensive center though... Can play the low or high post... Hits that jumper with regularity.

I have my doubts about DeAndre Jordan, but they want to get him minutes. I think the Clippers want to be more of a transition team, not a half-court one.

A lineup of Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Andre Iguodala, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan could really get up and down the court.

lets not hate on kaman too

lets not hate on kaman too much indianabasketball, saying hes not that good? Lots of teams would love a 28 year old center who can post up and score.

I'll change that then... He's just not a complete center. He's not a player anyone should ever consider untouchable.

29% FG

Aminu shot 29% from the field in summer league play.

FROM THE FIELD.

This is a forward we're talking about!

How can he not be considered a mistake?

He wasn't a good shooter or finisher in college either.

44% from the field, 27% from three-point range, 24% on jump shots overall, 48% on shots at the rim.

I don't understand how the Clippers made the mistake of drafting Aminu or why he was rated as a lottery pick in the first place, but the Clippers are the Clippers.

agree on that. I think it

agree on that. I think it comes down to style. If the clippers want to run and make griffin the primary inside option, then kaman for iggy would work. The sixers on the other hand have a bunch of bigs like speights, brand, hawes, and young who are not reliable go to post players. It wouldnt be a bad trade for either team although i do like iggy more.

Aminu a mistake:

what did Turner shoot from the field, and Aminu measured WAY better than Turner at the draft camp

Aminu's skills should translate very well into the NBA game not a 1st option now but potentially

I saw the summer league and it looks like he didn't post up 2 much, eventually he will learn to post up smaller wings playing him, I think he wanted to show off his handle too much

He has great potential, especially in the running game playing next to any combination of Iguodala/Baron Davis/Eric Gordon

Give Aminu time...I think

Give Aminu time...I think he'll do relatively good next season too. I expect 8 ppg and like 4 or 5 rpg as a rookie. He's not polish right now obviously, but his athleticism and rebounding will also him to score relatively well next season, likely on the offensive glass and in transition.

I think they need to play him at PF alot more than they did at SL, because he's better the closer he is to the rim (ala Josh Smith). Josh Smith, Thaddeus Young, Al Thornton are combo forwards who can score against PF's because of their quickness and athleticism and length. Aminu would benefit much of the same way. Maybe they wanted to see if he could be strictly at SF in SL and that's why he saw all of his time there for the absolute most part, but he's obviously better as a mismatch play who can play PF against slower guys.

I'm telling you guys, you don't take stats from SL. You take their strengths and weaknesses and see how they fit into a respective teams plan. I've learned since last summer lol.

Kaman

Is not untouchable by any means, but Legit Center is not one of the positions you have an abundance of in the L. He was a deserving allstar.

If the Sixers did this and

If the Sixers did this and didn't get Aminu they'd be weak at the three, Collins said he likes Young at PF so what would their lineup be, Holiday,Meeks,Turner, or Holiday,Turner,Young?

I think any trade for

I think any trade for Iguodala by the clips would have to center around Eric Gordon. Kaman really seems to me to be an older, more expensive version of Hawes. Kamans numbers were similar to his at the same experience level and Hawes has slightly more range than Kaman on his shot. I really feel like the sixers would really be one dimensional at that position if they acquired Kaman. They would be better suited to try and acquire Jordon in the trade as he would provide more of a defensive presence.

What the sixers really need is a shooter to go along with the playmakers they already have in Holiday and Turner. Gordon would fill that role without needing the ball in his hands at all times. He would be a better fit with the team than Iguodala and the sixers would have a really nice young core.

Sixers trade
Andre Iguodala
Jodie Meeks

Clippers Trade
Eric Gordon
Deandre Jordon

As a Sixers fan I would love

As a Sixers fan I would love Eric Gordon, he is one of my favorite players, but I just don't see LA giving him up. Maybe something like this, but no way the give up Jordan and Gordon.

Gordon for Iguodala and Meeks would work money wise and that is what i see as most likely.

Iguodala is really valuable

Iguodala is really valuable but I see your point so is Gordon. I don't think the trade would work straight up and the Sixers would need something else back if their giving up Iggy. I don't think Jordan is that big of an asset but if the clippers wanted something more than Meeks, I'd be willing to part with Speights. P.S if I didnt mention it before delfam LOVE the picture, I'm a huge Chaney fan, it was always my dream to play for him (before I realized D-1 schools aren't looking for 5"10 shoot first points with average ups and speed, with the exception of Bucknell). He was on 610 today, love listening to him. My favorite coach of all time.

Sixers Trade
Marreese Speight
Andre Iguodala

Clippers Trade
Eric Gordon
Deandre Jordan

I don't think your realize

I don't think your realize Iguodala has a somewhat bad contract, so your not going to get as much as he's worth because you want someone to get his contract. That's why I think Meeks and Iguodala for Gordon would be a fair trade, maybe some picks involved.

A lot of people around here

A lot of people around here say that his contract is bad but I completely disagree. Right now his cap amount isn't in the top 30 of the league and once his player option year hits, which pays him an inflated 15.95 million amount, he will be in the middle to late years of his prime. The contract was only bad because the sixers might have been able to get him for like 5 million cheaper since there weren't a lot of teams in the free agent market when Iggy was signed. For what he provides, Iggys contract is extremely reasonable but he is better off as a great second banana rather than trying to be the man with the sixers.

Now the Clippers want IGGY???

where the hell where they on draft day???Could have offered the 8th pick(let the sixers Pick what rookie they wanted...and added Jordan too...Sixers would have gotten a shot blocker and potential Shooter like Henry...

Now the Clippers want Iggy for next to nothing...please...Iggy is worth Gordon and Jordan...Iggy is worth Aminu,Jordan and # 1 pick...He Is worth Kaman and 2nd round pick....Iggy is a top 5 SF and overall great player...not the first option but a great fit on any team that has a Star...Iggy and Griff??? That's a Start
