To me Cliff looks like the closest thing to Blake Griffin we may see for a while. His athleticism actually is closer to Stoudemire, but his body type is on par with Griffin’s. Im sick of the Aaron Gordon comparisons to Griffin. Big Cliff is the next Blake.

On an unrelated note, Sam Dekker is #38 on the 2015 mock. WAYYYY TO LOW

I am most likely in the minority here but I’m really not that big on Cliff. Don’t get me wrong he is an exceptional high school player, will probably be a really good college player, and I do believe he will be good in the NBA as well, but I dont see big time star potential.

My main reason is because I feel like his athleticism is blown way out of proportion. When I watch him play, I see someone who has very long arms and is extremely aggressive. Not that that’s a bad thing or anything, but I dont see a lot of pure explosion or hang time. He just seems to go after dunks and blocked shots as hard as he possibly can. Also, I don’t see a ton of skill and I don’t care for his shot much at all.

When you look at other guys like Okafor who is huge and insanely skilled and Myles Turner (my personal favorite in this class) who is tall, long, athletic, and skilled, I don’t see how Cliff could really separate himself from the other bigs in this class. Also take into consideration how talented Kansas will be again next year and it is going to be even more difficult for him to wow scouts and GMs.

Cliff Alexander is easily the best defender out of the three. And who’s to say Cliff isn’t skilled? From what I’ve seen he is money at the foul line and doesn’t have a bad faceup game. And no, he’s not Blake Griffin athletic, but he’s pretty damn athletic. Did anyone watch the Curie vs Monteverde game? The back-to-back dunks Cliff had to win the game for Curie were insanely athletic.

Of course, I’m basing this just off his commitment announcement, but faking going for the Illinois hat and grabbing the Kansas one shows me that he could be an immature prick. I don’t know how well that will go over with coaches and teammates.

That is nit-picking if I have ever seen it.

Because no one’s ever done the fake hat grab before…

To me, doesn’t get enough lift off the ground to be the next Blake, but in terms of emphatic dunks, he’s there.

As of right now, give me Aaron Gordon over Cliff.  Maybe next year I’ll change my mind.
