CavFanPRParticipantCleveland offseason
1. Let Dellavedova, Smith and Mozgov walk.
2. Re-sign LeBron to the max.
3. Sign Mario Chalmers, Gerald Henderson, Marvin Williams and Ersan Illyasova to cheap deals. I’m assuming these guys will take a paycut to play for a contender. All of them are coming off a down year in terms of production.
4. Trade with Sacramento:
Cleveland trades: Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert.
Sacramento trades: DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore.
It’s never too late to start thinking about your future, even when your team is on the verge of a second straight finals appearance.
LeBron is at his best when playing the point forward role, and Kevin Love is not a good fit because he doesn’t defend centers very well.
In this trade, Cleveland gets a post presence, which they lack on the roster. Ben McLemore gives Cleveland a young swingman with potential.
Sacramento has Cauley-Stein ready to step in at center with Love at power forward. I think they are a great match.
Cleveland roster after the trade:
PG: Kyrie / Chalmers (FA) / Williams
SG: McLemore / Henderson (FA) / McRae
SF: James / Williams (FA)
PF: Ilyasova (FA) / Frye
C: Cousins / ThompsonSacramento roster after the trade:
PG: Rondo (FA) / Curry
SG: Shumpert / FA
SF: Gay / Casspi
PF: Love / Moreland / Dukan
C: Cauley Stein / Kuofos0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/09/2016 - 2:36pm #1060906
BiggysmallsParticipantFeel like that Cleveland team is worse than the one that’s going right now.
There’s something to be said about continuity and chemisty. Why would the Cavs blow it up if they are going to get to the Finals and have a shot at winning the title?
Love, Smith, Shump and Delavadova are useful pieces in that run.
McLemore hasn’t proven he’s any better than Shump or Smith, Chalmers is coming off a torn achilles, Cousins is a psycho and Illysova is softer than Frye.
Just seems like too much work to make a team not any better than it already is.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantAll depends if they win the ship. Lebron will probably sign another 1 year deal either way. Cavs gotta be the favorite right now to win it all..right?

ZachAttackParticipantMarvin Williams is coming off his best season since 2008. Not a down year. I doubt he’d go to Cleveland since he’s openly stated that he "loves" Charlotte. But I’d rather now Cleveland than "CavFanPR’s future" Cleveland team.

ExumInfernoParticipant1. Only Mozgov will be pushed along, the Cavs think they don’t need his size and another team will pay a lot for it.
2. Cavs give LeBron anything he wants.
3. None of those players want the league minimum.
4. Cousins is crazy, he would hurt the Cavs, and all that T Thompson money gets put on the bench.
If the Cavs are the best in the East, and top 3 in the NBA, they probably don’t need a huge rebuild. Love may be the brains there, Dellevedova the heart, JR Smith the hot hand, not sure LeBron the GM would send that out for Cousins and all his problems. If it was Carmelo, maybe.

Phenomenal1Why are you already planning for the offseason when Cleveland has a legit chance of winning a title

HitsterParticipantI’d say resign Delly, give LBJ whatever he wants. Mosgov look to keep if finances are right, if not target a title chasing veteran big such as Nene. Might Pau Gasol accept less to be a real contender too. Make a move for someone like Joe Johnson perhaps to give extra depth and scoring to the bench.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThey need an upgrade at 2 guard.
Shump and JR Smith should be bench guys. Those two with TT and Delly give you some good play off the bench.
So, they need another scorer and playmaker on the wing. A fourth option behind LeBron, Kyrie, and Love.
Channing Frye is fitting in. Looks like a home run addition.
Now, they probably COULD add a bouncy rim protector…

BiggysmallsParticipantSo Cleveland has maybe the best player in the game. They’ve got a top-5 PF. They’ve got maybe a top-5 PG. What do they need a top-5 SG too?
JR Smith is fine as a starter on this team. Is he any worse than Danny Green? Or Harrison Barnes? If he is, it ain’t by that much.
Cleveland has plenty of scoring options. Besides, having a "fourth option" would be overkill what with how much LeBron, Irving and Love have alledgedly complained about there not being enough touches for everyone. Yeah let’s add another guy who needs touches to the equation.
Seriously, Cleveland is fine. They’ve got the highest payroll in basketball. They are a top-three team in the league. Asking for moves on moves is video-game like.

ph90702Cleveland needs a real offense installed instead of their one on one crap. Also, please vote for me on the MWC board in the troll derby.

mowestenParticipantCousins? Come on dude, Cousins is a loon. He’s crazy talented, but can’t stay focused for five minutes and refuses to play within a team concept. He walks up and down the court, never hustles, doesn’t play hard, and is out of control more times than not.
Tristan Thompson on the other hand is a crazy hard worker, doesn’t need the ball to be an effective player, and goes and gets the ball himself. On some teams, Cousins might be a better fit than Thompson on some teams that need a scorer and an alpha male presence, not Cleveland however. They don’t need a scorer, and they don’t need a loon.
