    heres the link guys:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/sam_amick/06/06/harrison-barnes-2012-nba-draft-cleveland-cavaliers/index.html

a very good fit and like a lot of you, has had barnes going to the cavs in my mock. the two big questions is if A) they will take barnes over MKG if both are available, i think they still might do. and B) who is next on their list if barnes wasnt available already but MKG, Beal and Drummond are still are.

Supposedly everyone has MKG above Barnes at this point.  I really do, also, think Beal is a better fit with Kyrie than Barnes.  The versatility of Beal and Kyrie has the potential to put a ridiculous amount of pressure on opposing defenses, as I can hardly think of any team that can cover both.  Barnes could use more of a pure distributor and a team more willing to run him off numerous screens – not the usual Clev offense.

I bet Harrison Barnes secretly has his fingers crossed and going to Cleveland with Kyrie to throw him the ball. If he slides down to 5 with Sacremento he has to share the shots with Tyreke, Thornton and Cousins…..

the Cavs have long coveted Barnes, so this is no surprise.  although there is talk that the Bobcats want Barnes, even if they trade down and hope he is on the board….the Cavs may be the absolute best fit for him.  As I stated here before, if Beal becomes a star during his rookie contract, it will be very hard to keep him…whereas Barnes and Irving are best friends….actually, Kyrie refers to Harrison as his big brother and really wanted him to come to Duke with him.  I think friendship is very important.  The Heat formula hasnt worked out just yet, but I am sure Lebron, Wade, and Bosh love playing together.  A better example to me though is the Thunder with Durant and Westbrook inparticular.  Out of all the talk of how Westbrook was a black hole and they should get rid of him after last years playoffs…..Durant would hear no talk of it….now look at them….on the verge of the NBA Finals!  So many guys cant co-exist….look at Curry and Ellis….it was never gonna work.   You could have a DWade/Lebron or KD/Westbrook type bond with Kyrie and Harrison.

Surve is right , the Cavs were contemplating using the 1st pick on him last year , Barnes and Irving are a great fit even better than Beal or MKG and Irving IMO.  I do wonder if DC will take Barnes at 3 before Cleveland has a chance to take him.  And the pooint about the bond is absolutely right between Barnes and Irving , they are excellent friends and many thought they were going to be playing together at Dook before Barnes decided to go to UNC.

I think it’s MKG or Barnes for sure. Both are great fits and I can see them selecting Barnes and having a great foundation of Barnes, Irving, and Thompson.

Surve nailed it. Cleveland will be assured of getting a servicable player at 4. But being thats its Cleveland they have to take into account what has now become the BIG picture about playing in Cleveland And that is whether or not theyll be able to retain their services after their rookie contract is up.

A great point was made earlier about Cleveland not being able to hold on to Beal after his contact was up. But if MKG should fall to them at 4, or if they trade up to get him at 2..And if they opt to go with Barnes at 4, they stand to keep the two of them for at least a contract extension because of the "Friends with Kyrie" scenario. So far Kyrie has said all the right things about wanting to stay in Cleveland, which we all know isnt the first time we heard this. But This draft is so much more than drafting a good player to fill a hole. Its about filling a team need to coexist with Kyrie and the rest of the young squad for years to come and having faith in that they pan out and WANT to stay in Cleveland.

my sentiments exactly….I like how OKC has put together their young bunch….not saying they can keep all of them, but I am sure they want to keep KD happy, and part of that happiness is keeping Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka around.  I also think they like having Perk there as well….and Sefolosha.  I can see that same core of Irving, Barnes, and Thompson….plus now, I think Verajao fits in better with these young guys than he did in the LBJ/Mo Williams era.

the key thing to remember in addition to having that personal bond is, they are the same types of competitors.  MKG can play with anyone, so he is a good choice, but Barnes is an excellent teammate….he is competitive and unselfish.

I like the idea of Barnes and Irving. The two should be able to develop into clevland 1,2 offensive options going into the future.

Another idea would be to try to trade down with portland. 4+24 for 6+11. If portland really wants T Robinson or Drummond then they might nite at this trade. The at 6 + 11 Clev could possibly get Beal or Barnes at 6 and add a play like T Zeller, Sullinger or T Jones at 11

The Cavs are in a no-lose situation if they limit their pool to MKG, Barnes and Drummond. I really think Beal would be a reach at 4 and doesn’t have the upside of the above guys. They are guaranteed to have one of those three on the board and they all fill a team need.

MKG – Irving’s actual best friend, they played together in HS and is a tenacious defender at the SF.

Barnes – still close friends, provides a second option for Cavs, spreads the floor at the SF.

Drummond – young C to be mentored by Varejao and brought along slowly by Scott until he’s ready. Would be a pick and roll nightmare with that wide frame and insane mobility paired with Kyrie’s outside touch and quickness. Also, his passing ability is top-notch for a big man.

I’d rather Cleveland pass on Beal and look for a SG later in the draft, maybe a Doron Lamb, Will Barton, Dion Waiters (if he falls to late 1st).

Or if they take Drummond, take Quincy Miller in the late 1st. You’d be set at four of five positions for the future and could target a SG from next year’s crop; Shabazz, Archie Goodwin, Wayne Blackshear among others.

Barnes might not be there but I agree if he gets picked by Cavs that would be a good fit.

I cannot see Harrison Barnes not falling in to the Cav’s lap. The teams ahead of the Cavs will certaintly not reach for him. With Drummonds potential and MKG’s vast skillset they are almost certain to go ahead of Barnes. Picking Barnes would be the smart thing for the Cav’s as they already know that Kyrie and Barnes get along well and that is important in building a franchise in finding pieces that fit and mold correctly among each other. If they did not take Thompson last year I would suggest they draft a big man, such as Thomas Robinson or Drummond if he falls to them, but at this point Barnes would be the right choice and will form a strong core for a young Cav’s team.

@juslistin: MKG’s "vast skillset"? MKG is versatile, but his perimeter skills offensively are anything but vast. I think Barnes would easily be taken 2nd overall with great workouts, and Barnes has a history of impressing in draft workouts.

Remember in the off-season when scouts who watching him train with Kevin Durant were saying that he was far and away the best player available?

Definition of Versatle – "Capable of doing many things competently"

Definition of Vast – "Very great in size, number, amount, or quantity."

Looking at the definitions above you cannot agree that MKG has "VAST" skillset. And who said I was talking about his offensive game solely? Quantity not Quality. He does numerous things will, I’m talking about his rebounding to his defending capability as well as his ability to penetrate and get to the rim. MKG is a glue guy who can do all the little things that a team needs to win and become successful and that is the why he has a vast skillset. Yes he is Versatile and versatile means having a lot of abilities or able to do a lot of things. So correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think there was anything wrong with that statement.

They want Barnes in Charlote,if Barnes is taken 2nd overall they would be left with the option of MKG/Drummond or Robinson after Washington picks of course, the Wizards have been quoted as saying the won’t trade the pick, but Portland can tempt them into a 3rd pick for the 6th and 11th picks type of trade, Washington would be getting a Starting Sg and the 11th pick to fill another need…They are another team posturing for better position, though they are better served to move back as well…

1st…Anthony Davis the obvious Number One Pick

2nd…The Bobcats are being baited/pressured into taking Harrison Barnes, first by his UNC College Connection, and now by The Cavs prematurly announcing their love for Harrison, although they did love him last year and he has some ties to Kyrie I think this is clearly a case of "Bait and Switch" tactics…The Cats do want Barnes because of all the obvious reasons but not at 2, they want to trade down, and they will draft Andre Drummond to do so…They draft and wait to see how the Draft plays out, many teams value Drummond and would be willing to work with Charlote, especially the Blazers at 6th…

3rd…The Wizards will be forced to choose between Robinson, MKG, Beal and then Barnes…They want to draft Drummond and trade him away for The Portland picks as well, they need a shooter more than the next best 2 prospects T Rob and MKG, Brad Beal and Jeremy Lamb make perfect sense but I think 3rd overall is a little too high for either to be taken, with Drummond the trade chip gone they select Brad Beal

4th…The Cavs get the fortune to choose between MKG or Barnes and I think they select Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist and they get Kid Kyrie and his best friend MKG, two versatile players, with the 25th pick the Cavs can find a shooting guard(D.Lamb,T.Ross,D.Waiters,T.Wroten Jr.,W.Barton,W.Buford,J.Jenkins,A.Young)

5th… The Kings have to choose between Thamas Robinson and Harrison Barnes, although they don’t have a trasitional Sf, I believe they address the interior of their Defense and add the blue collar Pf to play off Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans, they’ll need a rebounder with Evans, Thornton, Thomas and Fredette shooting form outside, and 2 interior post players are certainly better than 5 perimeter players, The Kings select Thomas Robinson

6th…The Blazers select Harrison Barnes for The Bobcats, they take the player the Bobcats need and wanted to select 2nd but felt too pressured to do so and needed to get more, The Blazers are a Playoff team that traded away an aging Sf for the 6th pick in the draft, They have a RFA in Nicolas Batum that trumps all the Sf’s in this Draft Class and they look to resign him, they have NO size outside of Lamarcus Aldridge and JJ Hickson(who should the 3rd big in the rotation) they would be a contender if they pair LA with a defensive big in the mold of Greg Oden, although Drummond has a lot of offensive potential he’ll likely become a Bynum like C next to LA, which is well worth making this trade…

i disagree, but we’re all entitled to our opinions. i can see why cleveland would prefer Barnes who has as much, arguably more, star potential than MKG. MKG is likely gona have a 10 year or longer career in the NBA if he’s not for some reason or another devastated by injuries. he’s also the kind of great player to have on your team when you have a surplant of talent because he’s able to elevate his team’s play even further. however, the cavs arent oozing with talented players as of the momment. Irving was an excellent pick and Thompson shows promise with his development in his rookie year, but right now to go on the right direction, they need to add core guys and scoring options to show to the team and their fan base that they are progressing year after year. and its easier to sell that to your fans when you’re getting a guy who can score buckets without interfering with the team’s flow.
