Chuck Hayse to the Kings??

So the Kings have reportedly offered Hayse 20 mill over 4 years and they think he is going to accept..

What do you think about that??

They already have Whiteside, Hickson, Cousins, Thomson as their PF/C.. Now they go get Hayse??? I think that they arent very confident in anyone as a PF and they think Hayse would be great with Cousins.. That being said, dont they need a SF much more than they need another big??

Can you even call Hayse a big?? He is more like a "medium" or something... LoL.

Regardless, I think they will like Hayse but I feel like he phases Hickson and Thompson out a lil bit..

I agree if you want him to

I agree if you want him to play C but I like him as a backup PF.. He has shown that his thick body is enough to compete in the paint.. He can rebound with the best of them..

Yeah

I just think other than rebounding A few boards. what else can he do ? He cant defend bigs, block shots, Maybe worst free throw shooter ever, cant score.

This team needs players more

This team needs players more than anything and Hayes provides awesome toughness and experience for young team like the Kings. They have so many young guys that need to score they could use a defensive rock who gives 100% every position and doesn't need the ball to be effective. If they give Hayes that deal they will still have $9 left that they'll have to spend to meet the salary floor ($18M cap space) so shelling out $5M a year to an established guy like Hayes doesn't seem weird at all.

Actually Chuck is one of the

Actually Chuck is one of the best positional defnders in the post. Especially against guys like Bynum and Gasol. They can't figure out how to back him down with his short/strong legs. His post positioning is incredible.

Having said that, I'm not a fan of spending money just to spend money. Too many bigs, they must be planning on attempting to ship some youth out for either another all-star caliber player, or a young vet.

Hmmm....one must think about the idea of Cousins,Fredette,Whiteside,Greene and Thompson or Hickson along with a couple picks could probably land someone some big talent. Heck, probably even a Dwight if he were willing(which I doubt).

Yeah

I would want whiteside to be my future center and Cousins as my PF and Thomson to back up both. Hickson could start right now for A good team. Greene idk what to do with him he is too much of A tweener.

Lets not forget Rodman and

Lets not forget Rodman and what he accomplished. He is small but can defend and rebound the way Barx did.

hayes is a very underrated

hayes is a very underrated player.... one of the best post defensive threat in the nba, a great rebounding machine, a blue collar guy doing the dirty work (screens, helps...) you need to win games.

He's not a stat or a top 10 guy but he will provide the kings everything they need and don't have in their talented front court. Thompson, hickson, cousins, whiteside are all talented young offensive oriented big men but they don't have the skills and experience of chuck hayes.

This is a good move from the kings which are bringing some leadership and a good teammate in the locker room. Maybe cousins and others will learn some little things from that guy to be more successfull : winning games not only putting stats.

Does this mean they dont plan

Does this mean they dont plan on bringing Sammy Dalembert back?

Whoever coined the phase hard work pays off must've been talking about Hayes..Becuz he's not the most talented or athletic, but Hayes is a good passer, uses his strength and body to defend and grab rebounds..And for someone thats undersized he's a good shotblocker..But his success might've been a product of that Alderman system...There was a reason on why he wasnt drafted...But he's worked hard and carved himself into a servicable nba player...

There were times last season when his lack of offense and height really hurt the team..He's a good guy to have as a backup, but i wouldnt count on him being very productive if he's playing more than 30 minutes a night...

I was forgotting his passing

I was forgotting his passing skills (good point rudeboy) from the high post... cousins should benefit from it.

I don't see him as a starter (he lacks talent), but he is a really good role player from the bench and out of the court. The kings have already their starters : cousins, thompson or hickson (Who do you think should start ? I was loving thompson but he seems so depressed and lacking confidence or aggressiveness....).

The kings give up on Dalembert who is asking big money (and they are right to let it down) .

iguapops

has it spot on. Chuck hayes can flat out guard people. I went to a Rockets vs Clippers game last year to see Blake Griffin throw down some nast dunks. That didn't happen because Chuck Hayes guarded him all game. He gets real low when defending and is real strong. BG couldn't figure him out at all that game and ended up with 1 dunk and it was a simple one at that. BG ended up with only like 12 or so points.

There is a reason the Rockets have been somewhat successful even with Chuck hayes getting alot of minutes, its because he flat out plays hard and plays great defense.

The Kings are bringing in a very good player who can lead these young bigs by example. He may not block shots but he draws alot of charges(which is close enough to a block), he rebounds and is a good passer. Any team would be lucky to have Chuck Hayes.

defense and rebounding is something

the Kings will need since Sammy D will sign elsewhere. Hayes provides this. Quite a contract though.

Tyler Honeycutt

Is the name of the game at small forward. If he can somehow find playing time, I'm pretty sure he'd do nice at that SF spot.

Chuck Hayes defended Blake

Chuck Hayes defended Blake Griffin better than anybody I saw last season.

I don't know if I'd pay him $5 million per season though.

People talk about Kevin

People talk about Kevin Love's outlet passing all the time, but Chuck Hayes is just as impressive with it to me. His free throws are ugly though lol
