trelos6ParticipantChristian Wood was picked up by Sixers.
Great move Hinkie.
They have some college studs: Jackson, Wilbekin, McConnell
To go with high draft picks: Embiid, Okafor, Noel, Stauskas
They really are an interesting team to follow.
I wouldn’t mind seeing their starting 5:
Kendall Marshall
Nik Stauskas
Robert Covington
Nerlens Noel
Jahil OkaforAnd then off the bench:
Tony Wroten/Pierre Jackson
Hollis Thompson
Jerami Grant
Carl Landry
Christian Wood

oogellsParticipantThings are looking up in Philly, but I agree Wroten is the starting pg. You’d give up 120+ starting Marshall Stauskas and Okafor together.

DolanCareParticipantThe instability and financial loss that comes with being undrafted sucks. But for Christian Wood, it may have been the best thing for him basketball wise. He has talent. No one doubts that. Heck, some had him going in the first round.
But anyone who watched him at UNLV could tell he was a coach’s nightmare. He would jack up pull up jumpers like he was Kevin Durant, getting yanked from the game frequently. He was out there showcasing his skills, never playing team ball. I’m sure he didn’t amend his ways during workouts since that’s the only explanation of why he went undrafted.
The humbling experience of going undrafted should be a wake up call for Wood. He’s a good rebounder and has the coveted face-up game that you want to see from Power Forwards nowadays.

MopgrassParticipantInteresting the 76ers picked him. They had ample opportunities to draft him. Are they regretting their last pick?

VRod305ParticipantYou mean the pick that got us Stauskas, a first rounder and two free pick swaps that Vlade threw in for the hell of it? I doubt Hinkie regrets that. There is a reason they didn’t take those fringe college guys with those late seconds, because they are available.

DrivingDownTheStreetinmy64I see he was smart enough this time to chose a team that dont have a lot of vets in front of him

Bmore_DCParticipantI agree they are interesting but the Embiid thing delays the rebuild another year. I would rather see them start Wroten and Hollis Thompson than Marshall and Stauskas. I dont follow the 76ers much but can Covington play the 2 at all? because a lineup of:
Wroten
Covington
Grant
Nerlens
Okafor
…might be a matchup nightmare for other teams.

VRod305ParticipantGrant will not be starting. I would expect it to be Marshall, Stauskas, Covington, Noel and Okafor. Wroten is just a guy that isn’t cut out to be a starter. He’s in the Nick Young, Lou Will mode. He’s better coming off the bench. Brett Brown will probably go that way.

SkalAndJamalParticipantIm sure Brent Brown would mind if that was starting line-up though.

negguaryParticipantEverybody that hates on Tony so bad clearly does not actually watch him play every night. Of course he has turnover issues, he 22! but the kid has potential PERIOD!

T RexYou act like somebody watches them every night.
just kidding, I +1’d you. When I compare Mudiay to Wroten, it’s not a bad thing.

Chilbert arenasParticipantSolid core but they are in need of shooting desperately. Stauskus is the only guy at this point that stretches the floor.

sitlbitoParticipantRobert Covington is a terrific shooter, stats show that he could be even better, considering that Philly has such bad spacing that they have a hard time getting him open looks. Most of his threes are contested, because he was the only legit shooter on the team.

NBAjunkie81Participantthe 4 year rookie deal w/ the partial guarentee & agree to go overseas while the team maintains control… I’m guessing the Wood & Upshaw (who the Lakers signed) decided to be part of a growing trend of players who if they don;t make the 1st round & that gaurenteed $$$ would rather go undrafted in the 2nd & become free agents so they would have more leverage w/ NBA teams… We’ll see how Wood looks on the court, many scouts believed that he would go late first round & w/ his length, athleticism & wing span he’s exactly what the Sixers like under the still relatively new Hinkie regime (27 months old)… I like a lot of what Phila is doing. I like that they made that sweetheart deal w/ Sacramento for Stauskus & Swap rights for Two years to protect their backside & now they are actually really trying to field a team… If Sac-town blows up they may be handing a #1 pick to Phila, but even if they do not, the Sixers will have 4 first draft picks next June & 2 of them should be Lottery picks… Nerlens Noel got Zero Pub but that kid is a Stud, he’s SO much better than I thought he would be… He is Already Elite on Defense & his Offensive game is Good… I’m really curious to see what he’s going to do this season, he’s not a Super star but he could be a really good player/// & I Love Okafor, his Lower body is so wide & so strong, he gets position SO deep he forces Double teams on Every possesion & he’s so strong the opposing Center can not establish position on the block & I LUV the kid’s mentality, you can really tell he is used to all the attention, he is so humble but he’s got a Fire burning in him to be great… The Truly terrifying part about Phila is they could have Two top 5 Lotteyr picks in June & let’s not even go there w/ Ben Simmons but let’s say you guys get Jaylan Brown & Jaml Murray – thee is your #1 & your #3 – both potential studs, you already have Noel & Okafor at the #4 & #5 positions, you have 2014 #8 pick Stauskus at the #2 but you also have the 2014 #10 pick Dario Saric coming over to start the 2016 season w/ Phila & I just read an article written by Kevin Durant’s surgeon who was part of the operating team that just did the bone graft on Joel Embiid’s foot & he said Embiid’s bone looked "great" his words & that it was in "much better condition than Durant’s" & they did not have to use that non FDA approved material they used on Durant… So that is the scarist part of All – even W/O Embiid, you already have a 6 man rotation of Lottery picks Just from the last 3 or 4 Drafts & I did Not even mention the Other two 1st round picks you have next June – nut if Embiid is healthy & ready to play next October – OMG! b/c as good as Noel & Okafor some of the other players are Embiid is Legit Super Star prospect – this kid is scary good & if this all shakes out I don;t think anything like it has ever been seen in the League… it’s crazy… I know there are a lot of ifs but Sixers fans most be foaming at the mouth…. Anyway, sorry about the long post – I like Christian Wood too…
