All around the web, sports websites and others, always make fun of Chris Bosh. Broadcasters, TV personalities, even Heat fans. These NBA players are professional athletes, with that comes the good (money, fame, chance to do what you love on a grand stage) and the bad (haters, gold-diggers, fame chasers, constant pressure, little to no privacy) Personally, I’m completely tired of it, I think it’s classless, immature, and pretty hateful, both in thought and practice. I don’t even see this type of outright DISTATE (it’s beyond dislike, it’s literally like a repulsion) towards LeBron and D-Wade, or Kobe. It’s literally like making fun of the shy geeky kid because you know he won’t fight back, that’s the way it comes off. Like everyone considers Chris a push-over, so you take advantage of that. Why do people think that is funny? No, it makes you look like absolute punks, the same punks and worse you think Chris is. And, since it’s so unoriginal at this point, played out, and tired, it makes you look like a follower deseprate for laughs.

So yeah, I wasn’t speaking to anyone in general, just overall, I think people should really chill on the constant harping on Chris Bosh. Treat others the way you want to be treated, have some sort of decency and respect. Pretty much 95% of people don’t know the guy personally to hold such a negative view towards him as a man.

Because Bosh is perceived as "soft", he gets made fun of and borderline de-humanized. Like the people doing the mocking are, what, tough? No, I don’t think so.

Several other guys have had the soft label, but they don’t get made fun of like Bosh does. It’s not hate against "soft" players. It’s hate against Bosh.

When Kevin Durant, who says everything by the book and is soooo soft spoken and respectful, calls you a "fake tough guy", I think everyone should take notice of that.

Go back and read some old Kobe threads from 04-07. You’ll see HE was the most hated star. BUt, Bosh brings this stuff on himself with comments about people diving near him. And how small and imputive he is.

Kobe definitely was hated, and he was hated strongly by many, but he wasn’t universally hated by most, unlike Bosh. Kobe’s national approval ratings were around 50% even in his darkest days. LeBron is hated, but he’s also respected by many of his haters. Envied even. And again, he’s not universally hated like Bosh is. Bosh has done some questionable things, but Kobe and LeBron have done much more questionable things and they are not hated like Bosh is. Guys like Bruce Bowen who tried to take guys out, or Manu Ginobili, flop master, are not hated like Bosh is. And, Durant basically made the point I was making, that people make fun of Bosh because they don’t think he’ll do anything back or that he’s a pushover. To me, if you want to do something actually funny or actually make a point you wouldn’t go after the easy target, that’s a b*tch move.

He is disliked in Boston, but respected non the less. He is despised in his hometown of Philly. Thats 2 places. Besides that the cat got accused of a pretty bad crime and still has #1 jersey for a few years running.

It’s like a yinyang… We, NBA fans, will always have teams we despise and teams we admire a lot…We idolize different kinds of players yet we also find some players we hate… It wouldn’t be fun at all if we keep on lovin’ all the guys in the NBA, for sure it would be interesting if we were able to hate someone. Bosh is an easy target for a number of reasons… He’s soft… You hear it a million times out there… Him being called RuPaul was justifiable for making insults on Shaq’s 40 point night against his then-team the Raptors. Lately, him calling out Asik saying guys shouldn’t dive for looseballs when they’re too close to his leg… WTH is that??!! He deserves to get bashed.

"He’s soft." So, where are the same knocks against guys who have/had the reputation of being soft? Gasol? Parker and Ginobili? Garnett and Pierce a lot of times are flopping or acting as if they were shot on court after being bumped to the ground, are they soft? Glen Davis? Everyone is so inconsistent, and I have my reasons as to why that is, but I don’t want to start a huge personal debate. As you said MarcusFizer, Bosh is an easy target. People call him soft, yet those same people go after the soft guy and the easy target. Instead of someone who has more standing in your eyes, and does something wrong, but then it’s forgotten. Garnett reportedly called someone a cancer patient and he’s still respected by many, even those who don’t like him. Other guys have fought or shown concern after thinking a player was going at their legs, or potentially could cut their legs from under them, but when Bosh does it, it makes him soft? There are a lot of things that Chris does I don’t like, but get real, the hate towards him is not about what he does on court at all, because if it were, people would be hating the others who have done and do the same things. Like I said, I’m pretty sure I know the real reasons why people hate him but I don’t want to start a philosophical war so I’m going to hold it in.

I understand not everyone is going to like every player. And all players have their criticism at one point or another. But there is a major difference between criticism of a player for ______ reason, and then a complete distate and borderline and many times crossing over to pure hatred for a player and as a person, across the board. I said this to a friend of mine who hates Bosh, I truly don’t know if people don’t recognize themselves, or whatever the case it, but it’s really ridiculous. I can understand not liking some things Chris does on court, like not attacking the hoop or not rebounding and being the physical force he should, and many times appearing mentally fragile. But the same can be said for several other players and they are not called out on it consistently if at all. It’s basically bullying at this point, and I hate bullies.

Many people still hate KG for that but I sided him for this reason alone: What is said in the game, stays in the game… Charlie decided to act like a pu$$y tweeting it out… If KG, did say it out loud, he should apologize after but I don’t think KG is good enough of a person to do that but tweeting something that’s supposed to be a "trash-talk" on the court was somewhat head-scratching… and now everyone’s hating on him… Yes, people do hate KG but in fairness to him, he plays terrific D in Boston so no one is talkin bout him being an a$$… CB is anti-thesis… And it’s the first time I heard someone complain about a basketball player who hustles and blame him for the injury… Usually athletes don’t blame others. They consider it as part of the game.

Gasol, Ginobili and Parker are soft but they said nothin’ controversial that’s worth talking about.

First of all, Manu Ginobili is NOT soft.

Christina Bosh is the guy who complained that people shouldn’t dive on the floor because she might get hurt. She brought this criticism on himself. Nobody is bullying her. She’s a grown man.

flyboy, you remind me of btownkid.

I haven’t seen anybody who actually HATES Chris Bosh. Let people have their fun. I see no bullies.

LeBron has it way worse in my opinion.

I didn’t say Manu was soft. I said that he’s been perceived as soft by some, for his flopping and the excessive way he looks for fouls. Personally I don’t really consider any NBA player soft. Because I know I couldn’t go out their 82 games a year for over half a year. That’s the ultimate joke, that computer warriors have the nerve to call professional athletes soft. I digress, yes, it is bullying what you and others are doing. There is an obvious difference between "having fun" with something, joking around, criticisizing, and then flat out calling a man "she", calling out his manhood, and his entire being. And making fun of a person, just for the heck of it, for cheap laughs, and doing it over and over and over, because you perceive that person to be weak. That is BULLYING. Grown adult, 12 year old kid, bullies are bullies, and I can’t stand bullies, especially adult bullies. LeBron may get his fair share of hate, but does he literally have his manhood and being questioned on a nearly daily basis? Do we see anti-LeBron threads pretty much every day? No, we don’t. And even then, there are ideological reasons that are much deeper than someone taking too many jump shots, for why some hold negative attitudes towards LeBron. I’m all for letting people have their fun, but fun at another persons’ expense is wrong.

About Asik, and I disagree 100% with him, but then again, as I said, other guys have complained about the very same thing, their legs being taken out, one way or another. That is a serious situation that could have damaging affects, so although Chris went too far in that situation, he did get hurt and I can at least rationalize where he was coming from. Instead of even trying to listen, everyone just says "Oh, he’s soft." It’s so disrespectful and punkish.

Chris Bosh needs to man the f*** up. He was meant to be a rebounder when he signed with the Heat, he’s turning into Brook Lopez in terms of rebounding. I remember he said when he signed on "when i get a rebound, i have Wade on my left and LeBron on my right". It probably helps if he would start rebounding 12+ a night and then let his skills do the talking after he does that.

How about you stop caring about what random people who you don’t even know say or think?

I hate bullies too, and you may think of yourself as a hero standing up for somebody else as you constantly feed your massive ego, but you think so damn highly of yourself that you are too ignorant to see that you are the one who is putting people down. You aren’t the voice of reason here that you think you are. You are simply getting your rocks off by insulting others because you think you are are better than us. What we’re doing is harmless fun. Chris Bosh is getting paid millions of dollars to play on a winning basketball team. He’s an all star and he knows that people clown him. Nobody is saying anything hurtful and I doubt he’s on his yacht right now with six or seven beautiful women sipping champagne and crying because we there are people in the world who don’t respect him as a basketball player. He’s a soft NBA player. We don’t pick on him to feel better about ourselves, we pick on him because it’s funny. Actually, I wouldn’t have even picked on him if his mother (you) didn’t barge in class and tell everybody to stop picking on your little Christy.

In this topic you see yourself as Superman and Chris Bosh as Lois Lane. That’s cute and all, but you can’t save him from the millions of NBA fans who enjoy making jokes about a certain player.

We’re not bullies. You’re just a smug douche.

Anyone who reads my posts concerning Gasol knows my distaste for him and his polite mentality. Go to LG and you’ll see plentyof talk at how soft Pierce is. Kobe has never EVER been a soft guy. Lebron has always been a pretty tough guy himself. Ginobli,Nash,Bell, and Vujacic may all be floppers who fake, but DO NOT confuse that for softness. All of these guys play through the pains and DO NOT care to throw their bodies in the way to take a hit. Bosh won’t even do that.

Yeah, Kobe has done things like that and made similar comments. *Sarcasm*

    @Dale Worthington

He never averaged more than 10.8 rebounds per game, and he’s only averaged 10 rebounds three times while not sharing boards at all in Toronto really, and you think that’s great? You got to be kidding me! If that’s great then what category do you put Howard, Love, and historically speaking, KG and Duncan? Guys like Gerald Wallace and Shawn Marion have put up more impressive rebounding numbers than Bosh and they don’t even play PF. Like I said, he can put up good rebounding numbers for a big man, not great. Don’t let his offensive skills fool you into thinking that 8-10 rebounds is great for a big man because it’s not.

Nothing wrong with calling a guy soft if that’s how he plays. If Bosh doesn’t like the label then he’s needs to change it. Play harder, do more dirty work, mix it up in the paint, take the ball to the basket on offense, etc. It drives me crazy to see a guy as talented as him play so passively.  The thing about Bosh is that not only is he being called soft by fans and the media, but players. Shaq called him the RuPaul of big men and Durant called him the fake tough guy. Shaq just likes to talk, but when Durant says something like that it’s a big deal. It also doesn’t help that during free agency Bosh followed Wade around like a puppy. Basically everyone knew that wherever Wade went Bosh was going to go. I have never seen a guy so happy to go from top guy on his own team to not even 2nd fiddle on a new team, but as the 3rd guy when he’s stil fairly young. Before Wade had re-signed I remember seeing a video of him and Bosh about to go out to eat.  A bunch of cameras came up and the guy was asking Wade a bunch of questions while Bosh just stood quietly to the side.  Then some fans came up and asked Wade for an autograph.  Seems that things are still the same in Miami. Who’d Chris Bosh?

I don’t think people understand the difference between being good and being great at something. Those two words aren’t synonyms for each other. If someone wants to give me a negative for calling chris bosh a good rebounder, not great, then fine, but at least prove me wrong. He isn’t a top tier rebounder for the PF position. He rebounds well for the PF position but they aren’t great numbers when there have been guys at his position to average 12 or more rebounds for stretches of their career where Chris has had more single digit rebounding years than he’s had double digit. Just look at any of the "great" PFs of this game and see how Chris Bosh’s rebounding stacks up to their rebounding.

Chris does play soft, I never argued that, he needs to play tougher. I’m not even really defending his play or some of his actions, which are questionable. Of course, people can call out Bosh on not being a franchise player, he obviously isn’t, and he signed with Miami to give him what he felt was the best opportunity to win. But, again, it’s the inconsistency that’s the BS. Is LeBron, Carmelo, Wade, Stoudamire, D-Will, Howard, are all of these guys weak minded because they want to play with super teams? Are they soft mentally? Brook Lopez is a horrible rebounder, why isn’t he literally ATTACKED for it like Bosh is, constantly? There are plenty of others who are big who rebound as much if not less, yet they aren’t constantly harped upon negatively in such a hostile way. People are saying "oh well Gasol, Ginobili, Vujacic etc. are competitors, they aren’t soft blah blah blah", so what exactly is the difference between them and Chris? They do the same things Chris is criticized for. No, I can’t save Chris Bosh from immature computer warriors who wouldn’t say any of the things they say on the computer to his face, but that also doesn’t mean I have to sit back and just laugh either. And him being a millionare doesn’t mean he isn’t a human being, and guess what, all the other NBA players are making major money, and they aren’t pretty much lambasted as not being real men, which is essentially what everyone here and across the web is doing. That is the ultimate insult. I do think I’m better than those who engage in such stupidity. People here are getting their rocks off insulting Bosh over and over, not even about basketball, and it’s harmless fun, but when I say something about it, it’s not harmless anymore and people get offended? Please.

Agreed. And no one is backing Gasol as if isn’t a soft player. I’ve seen Vujacic get straight jacked up several times for being so irritating to the point Melo choked him. He’s had scuffels with Melo,AI,Rondo,Bibby etc. These guys aren’t soft. They have no fear of throwing their body around to get loose balls or bounds. And don’t even bring Brook Lopez and Bosh up in the same sentence. Lopez isn’t even relevant enough to talk shit about. He’s the starting center on one of the worst teams in the league, whereas Bosh is an All-Star for the SuperFriends. And even then with his piss poor reboundig, at least with him I know he is going to be big enough and play physical enough with his back to the basket game that people have no need to bash him. Bosh has absolutely NO physicality or toughness about him. NOBODY is afraid of that man. Just not, and his recent flops and complaints aren’t doing him ANY good on this front. It’s almost as if he’s painting PUSSY across his forhead.

The difference is that we aren’t picking on Bosh to make him feel inferior.

Think about McNugget (a user on this site). We all pick on him and "insult him and his name" but nobody here thinks they’re better than him. We’re all just jealous that he has more points than us. It’s the same thing with Bosh. I don’t actually know anybody who hates or feels animosity toward Bosh. Some people are just flat out jealous, while others are expecting more of him. We have fun and pick on him, but harbor no ill-will (again, at least nobody I know).

You are calling people bullies, immature, unintelligent and I believe you just flat out said that you are better than us.

    Do you see the difference?

Every bully I’ve ever known only tries to hurts other people to make himself feel better. If that’s the case, than you are the only bully here.

I have a couple things to say, but the main thing, why is there this obsession with Bosh needing to prove how tough he is? Are we seriously doing this hyper-masculine playground BS? He isn’t a physical player, he’s a finesse guy, always has been. When he HAS come out and defended himself or got into someones’ ear, that player has almost every time came right back at him, Shaq and Durant publicly. So, it’s basically a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. This whole "he never gets dirty" thing, are we literally saying he’s never dived on the floor for a rebound? He’s never pushed a guy to get a board? He’s never gone up strong for an offense rebound or for a dunk? That’s ridiculous. His role in the Miami offense is mainly geared to him taking mid range jumpers or driving from the mid-range. He’s not a mix it up player, a lot of guys his size aren’t. He’s not even really that big, he’s slight build. But because he’s from Miami, and not New Jersey or Minnesota, somehow it’s OK to target him, and not target others, for the SAME exact reasons? That is the inconsistency I’m talking about.

I see the difference, but I disagree with some people not feeling animosity towards Bosh. There clearly is animosity towards Bosh when people are saying he deserves to be bashed, calls him all types of slurs, calls him "she", talks about his girlfriend, things I’ve seen on the web, have gone way deeper than just basketball, it’s been an attack on him as a person and his manhood. The whole "I harbor no ill-will but I like making fun of you" doesn’t really fly with me. If you didn’t hold a negative view of that person, you wouldn’t go after that person. I don’t need to make myself feel better because I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong, and really, I’m not talking to anyone on this site in particular, but in general what I have seen. And I didn’t say I’m better than everyone who does act in this way, however, in this situation I do think I am acting better because I’m not acting immaturely. You can be critical of a guy without going as far as a lot of people have in doing so.

I call him Christina Bosh because he plays and acts like a girl. Doesn’t mean I feel any animosity toward him.

I’m pretty sure Erik Spoelstra would love for Chris Bosh to start rebounding at just a decent rate, that’s why they signed him so they told everyone. Miami would be a deadly team if he would be that inside presence he was meant to be, even with drives which he did in Toronto. He just has to play the way he did in Toronto and Miami would be a lot better.

Play and act like a girl? That’s some serious sexist s**t, both against men and women.

Anyway, I never said it’s wrong to be critical or make fun a bit, but there is a limit, and also, be consistent with it. Instead of coming up with excuses for why you do it. I don’t pick on people, though. I don’t see any need to try to bring someone else down or clown them. And yes, Ron, I DO think that makes me a better person in that respect compared to those who do that.

I agree Big D that Bosh needs to be playing more physical, but he was never an interior force. That’s something Miami needs but that simply isn’t his game. His rebounding has been negative impacted by playing with great rebounders around him, but he’s simply not an all out aggressive player, he’s a finesse player. I guess that he’s been exposed playing with the Heat, but that’s more because of the role he plays in the offense and the situation he’s in, not that he’s magically changed as a player.

Play and act like a girl? That’s some serious sexist s**t, both against men and women.

Anyway, I never said it’s wrong to be critical or make fun a bit, but there is a limit, and also, be consistent with it. Instead of coming up with excuses for why you do it. "…because he plays and acts like a girl."

Lisa Leslie plays more aggressive than Chris Bosh.

The WNBA is actually fierce. Maybe more so than the NBA.

I was comparing Bosh to a little girl who wants to play with her brothers but cries what she gets hurt.

What do you think about the Heat players (none of them being Bosh) who actually were crying today. If we find out their names, they definitely deserved to be mocked, right? Cause I think that would be funny.

Lots of players cry. I cry sometimes.

My favorite player, Andrei Kirilenko cried on TV once.

Toughest man in the NBA, Jerry Sloan, cried on TV a few weeks ago.

He was just upset, with a pouty look on his face, but I guess that’s enough to be mocked, but if Wade were crying it’s not a big deal or showing how much he wants the wins.
