Chris Bosh to the Charlotte Bobcats for the 4th pick?

CBS Sports has reported that the Charlotte Bobcats are interested in acquiring the stretch-four from the defending NBA champions, Chris Bosh. The Bobcats have very slim depth up front, and he could fit on the Bobcats team very well. If he were to end up in Charlotte, they could slot him at the power forward position (where he belongs), and he and Bismack Biyombo would compliment each other nicely. Also, this would allow Charlotte to move Byron Mullins back to the 6th man role, a role that he has flourished in during the past.

Although I doubt this trade happens, it would be unique to see how Chris Bosh would do as a Bobcat, and what Charlotte would actually end up trading along with the 4th overall pick to try to make the salaries match up.

What do you guys think of the rumors? Personally, I don't see Miami splitting up the "Big 3", but it would be interesting to see Chris Bosh have a fresh start, especially considering that he gets more beef than anybody in Miami.

Not going to happen. Anyway

Not going to happen. Anyway even though Bosh has played poor recently, The Heat wouldn't trade him for the 4th pick in a very weak draft.

weak draft? somewhat true, but Bosh is weaker that this years draft! If I was the Bobcats, I wouldn't trade my 4th pick for Bosh!!! Bobcats can pick up a weak 6'10 dude over in Germany or somewhere else? I wouldn't trade Bosh for a cup of coffee!

I doubt it will happen but

I doubt it will happen but the intrigue will be enough for the heat to listen. With the 4th pick they could scoop up a guy like bennet or len for the future. The heat realize just as well as anyone that people age and games deteriorate.

The Heat should do the trade.

The Heat should do the trade. Get Bosh off the books, go BPA at 4, and then try to get either Chris Paul or Dwight Howard to take less money.

The Heat need to retool. They can get big free agents as long as LeBron -- and South Beach -- are still there.

If they give up Bosh and

If they give up Bosh and somehow take no salary back in the process, the would still be right at the salary cap.... So unless taking less money means the veteran minimum....

What if

the Bobcats where to add there first round pick in next years class. So the Heat would get the #4 pick in a weak draft and most likely a Top 5/Top 10 pick next year in a projected very strong draft. Would that make the Heat more likely willing to pull the trigger?

LeBron needs a younger player

LeBron needs a younger player to rebuild the core. Bosh might not be that guy. But what about Trey Burke or Alex Len?
Then they can use that Bosh money to sign some extra guys. They should also try to get into the second round to get some cheap,
good, young role players.

As bad as Bosh has been these

As bad as Bosh has been these playoffs, they would need a big man to replace him, and, like it or not, Alex Len will not help them make it to the finals. Unless, Nerlens Noel makes it to #4, I would not take this trade if I were the heat

I think everyone is under

I think everyone is under valuing the 4th pick(in terms of Miami's and Charlotte's needs) and over valuing Bosh.

If they got the fourth and took Bennet he would be an upgrade in the paint right away, with a lot of potential left. If they took Alex Len they would actually have someone bigger then Lebron on the roster, Burke would give them a better all around PG than they have who could do what Rondo did in Boston and eventually surpass parts of their Big Three and help build the future.

Bosh isn't getting any younger and do you really think Charlotte is thinking that with him on the team they will be ready to go, they need to build for the future with players who will be their in 5 years when they have more pieces, you take a 30 year old with 10 seasons under his belt and say this is the future.

29 or 30 what ever he has

29 or 30 what ever he has played 10 seasons plus playoffs, he isn't anyone to build around, remember Toronto. And with his lack of play in the paint and rebounding, the things that the heat need the most, they are upgrades, maybe they're not better players but they are upgrades to this team.

If they trade Bosh, they need

If they trade Bosh, they need to draft a center, or at least some one who can play center. I'd rather have bosh that len. Am I ridiculous on that assessment?

Birdman, Alex Len, and Udonis

Birdman, Alex Len, and Udonis Haslem would be just as solid inside. Plus, a lot cheaper.

Then they should buy some second round picks to get cheap shooters like Seth Curry or Ryan Kelly. Peyton Siva could be good for
them too. DJ Stephens would be great with LeBron.

I think the Heat's best guys now are LeBron, Wade, and Birdman. Then Battier and Chalmers. That's basically their core now.

LeBron, Birdman, Battier, Chalmers, Alex Len, and 5 second round picks could get to the conference finals next year.

Look at these lottery teams

Look at these lottery teams dying for a stretch 4 (Washington and Charlotte apparently), I don't remember that many offers being thrown around for Ryan Anderson and Ilyasova last year.

I don't remember the pursuit

I don't remember the pursuit of Anderson, but there were a lot of teams interested in Ilyasova. Just didn't really have the money to pursue him once Brooklyn made the trade for Joe Johnson/signed Teletovic.

Also, I think teams may have thought Ilyasova's great season a year ago was a fluke since he suddenly went from a meh shooter to one of the best in the NBA, but he's now done it two years in a row while also being a very good rebounder.

At the least this info should light a fire under Bosh

Potentially being exiled to the HornCats is a helleva motivator. I think this rumor is a joke but...

I have been wondering what the Heat will do if Bosh opts in next summer? Lebron is going to opt out to at the very least re-up to a longer pricier contract. D-Wade and Bosh may just choose to opt in as they may not see deals that will pay 18 million plus on the open market being over 30. If they both opt in and Lebron opts out and resigns for more, now that they have his Bird Rights then the Heat will be in a even tougher cap situation. There is no guarantee that Haslem, Miller and Battier retires after next year either.

Oh my god people are you all

Oh my god people are you all being serious? As a Charlotte fan this idea is insane to me. Bosh would 100% leave in 2014 when his contract is up, we would lose a young piece in our rebuilding by giving it over to Miami, and we would do fairly well next year and get an awful pick in the 2014 draft. This would go down as one of the most shortsighted trades in league history and essentially revert our rebuilding process to square one.

The Heat want to win now

The Heat want to win now, if the Heat were shopping Bosh around it would be for better pieces than the forth pick of a sub par draft, even offering the first pick would be absurd.

I also don't get the negatives that the opening poster (a good member) is getting as he's merely passing on a report that he read and he even stated that he doubted that the trade would happen. Some of you guys are ice-cold.

apparently most of you don't understand the salary cap

Trading Bosh doesn't allow them to sign more FA's. You can only re-sign your own guys when you are over the cap, or a couple exceptions or minimum salaries. Nobody that can help them stay on top. And for those saying make the trade and draft Burke, I guess you're just assuming they can trade Chalmers or Coles also?

The only way I could ever see

The only way I could ever see Miami biting on something like this is if they think it would be more wise to build around Wade and LeBron in the future (whereas I personally think Wade is deteriorating quickly). The new CBA kinda screwed the Heat salary wise. A lot of people believe that one of the Big 3 will have to leave next year when they can opt out. If Miami moves one of them for a high draft pick, that could allow them to keep two of them while also getting a good player in return on a significantly lower salary.

Having said all that, I'd be shocked if Miami actually does something like that, and I'd be surprised if they choose to keep Wade over Bosh moving forwards.

I don't like Bosh's game but

I don't like Bosh's game but I have to admit that he's a very good player. I wouldn't trade him for the 4th pick in this draft...
